Lake District Walks | Walking the Wainwrights | Harter Fell (Eskdale) via Hardknott Forest

- Mid-February 2024, Neil heads out from beside the River Duddon, through Hardknott Forest (and a red squirrel encounter) and up Harter Fell. It's a steep ascent (Wainwright recommended the route from neighbouring Eskdale), but the views are stunning, particularly in the snow.
Route available here: explore.osmaps.com/route/2090...
From the top, you can see across to the Scafell range, as well as out to sea. This walk is a round 4 1/4 miles, from the carpark beside the river, and is around 518m/1,700 ft of ascent and descent.

Great to have you back. You have been missed. Yes, very squelchy on the fells. We have had so much rain. Hoping for a drier Summer.

Thank you - yes, beck! Knew that really!
ahhh superb to have you back my dear man, you have been missed! lovely walk and excellent commentary, we had pass/pass & path/path 4 times! 👌 Neil bingo was on fine form today!

Great to see another one of your videos. Made for a very enjoyable watch. Lots of terrific scenery too. How lovely to see the red squirrel. Keep meaning to do that Wetherlam walk you did incorporating Black Sails but changed my mind last time out and ended up going over Lingmoor & Side Pike via Blea Tarn. Maybe next time out. Thanks for sharing this excellent walk with us.
Many thanks, David. Greatly appreciated.
Neil, great to have you back, enjoyed the video as always. Looking forward to seeing more this year. Regards Kevin and Barbara 😊
Thanks, Kevin and Barbara. Best wishes, Neil
Excellent video as we've come to expect. Not an overly complicated paff (or path) to follow, but t'would be helpful if you could perhaps include the gpx file in the description... Just saying.
Thanks for the idea! Will look into it and see if I can add it to the other films. All the best, Neil
