“The End of The Earth” is the theme song of the Chinese historical drama “Monarch Industry”. Written by lyricist Joey Chou and composer-producer Mo Yan Lin, this song is sung by Zhou Shen and Hu Xia.
Based on Mei Yu Zhe’s novel “Di Wang Ye”, “Monarch Industry” tells the story of Wang Xuan and Xiao Qi who become acquainted with each other and fall in love. Together they overcome myriad tribulations, open up a new era, and defend their homeland and their people.
Zhou Shen’s gentle and delicate voice, coupled with Hu Xia’s deep and melodious singing, thoroughly delineate the affectionate bond between the wise and strong-willed Wang Xuan and Xiao Qi, a hero of war-torn times. The echoes of the tune linger on, bringing you and me to find the end of the earth. There we make an oath to stay together throughout the four seasons, and sing a duet with infatuation: “With footsteps of a lifetime I travel, to struggle forward, to hold you dear. At last, for the promise to you, I bid adieu to the throne of power”. No matter how the ocean may wash all rouges away, or the farmland may be transformed by seismic waves, our love will never fade. This concretes the love confession of Wang Xuan and Xiao Qi that pledges to everlastingness: “Forever for today, forever for the rest of our lives.”
