Natalia Solzhenitsyn is the widow of Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the renowned Russian novelist and outspoken critic of the Soviet Union. She is currently in Paris for a series of events commemorating the centenary of Solzhenitsyn's birth and the tenth anniversary of his death, including an exhibition featuring previously unseen manuscripts. Thank you Natalie Solzhenitsyn for your time. I am sorrowful over your second heart stopping. Aleksandr is and was a powerful beat.
Blessed be
We need a good movie about his life....a real life, a hard life...and victorious life. Pray for this
Actually if in youtube heading type in Solzhenitsyn Center there is much on his work etc
@@johnruskin4330 I think he means a big homage to his entire life in film where it could be more mainstream but obviously we know Hollywood wouldn't touch a great man with a ten foot pole.
@@arvidalexatsinch1163 valid point and accepted
@@arvidalexatsinch1163 true, doesn't fit the much peddled narrative. It is so needed though. :(
His hard life in what aspects? It’s just funny that there’s still people who believe in his garbage
He work is having a renaissance to today. His ideas has become more relative with time.
I read Gulag many years ago. No wonder AS was a Nobel awardee in Literature.
He had a profound effect on my life.
The interviewer dub is spectacular. It looks like that guy could have that voice. /s
Wow, France 24 is a French network, could have never guessed.
He rests now, and awaits the embrace of our loving Lord's arms. All glory and praise to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn gives me hope.
The beautiful and great woman of a beautiful and great man. I'm so proud of this couple of great beings. Thank you madam, for keeping alive the legacy you created with your regretted husband.
I read Gulag a long time ago… just couldn’t put the book down, opened my eyes to the cruelty people endured at that time… God was absent
The flashing graphics and pictures are a distraction making it harder to watch and listen to Solzhenitsyn’s wife.
A plain background would have been more respectful of the audience and guest.
If interviewer would not used his hands that much and concentrated on more intelligent questions , this clip should be more interesting .
Jako dzecko wyobrazalem sobie nieznane wyspy
Wspominam Mustaffa i wnuki Aleksandra i.
I’ve never read another book like Gulag Archipelago volume 1. It’s a historic account, but the writing style is so poetic. Also, he has a wicked sense of humor and I was surprised how many times I caught myself laughing by his exposing the hypocrisy.
Good ole Ivan Denisovich
Лживый вор Иван Денисович
Solshenitzyn most ‘accurate’ book is ‘Ivan Denisovich’, I think. It’s
pure fiction, but describes life in a labor camp. The rest of his
stuff, especially the Gulag Archipelago, are rumors, especially old
rumors. There are little hints and tidbits throughout that one or two
Sovietologist acquaintances thought were suggestive. Basically, all
the Sovietologists I have ever spoken to think the stuff is worthless.
And that’s my view as well. ANY literate reader who can tell what is
good evidence from what is not will recognize that there is no
evidence here.
S. was lionized in the West and especially in the US. I remember
that the AFL-CIO gave him a prize in the early ’70s - this guy who is
a great racist (anti-semite, see below) and elitist, lover of the Tsar
and of Russian imperialism! It said volumes about the AFL-CIO.
S’s ex-wife (Soviet) wrote a book, available in English, in which
she pointed out what a first-class schmuck the guy is personally. This
has no bearing on the validity of his writings (see above), but is
interesting for those who admire his «principles.»
There was a long-time debate among anti-communist Jewish Soviet
emigres about S’s anti-semitism. Much of this was published in
Russian-language journals published in Israel; I have some of it. It
was summarized in some articles in _Slavic Review_ by American
anti-communist «champions» of Solzhenitsyn, who thought that tarring
S. with the brush of anti-semitism would ruin his usefulness as a
stick to beat the Soviets with. Very revealing about the uses of
history in the Cold War.
Lol, even Alexander Solzhenitsyn ex wife debunked the Gulag archipelago saying that it has been over exaggerated and that the book is based on popular myths rather than true historical accounts.😂😂
were you there ?
