@@BurnByMoonlight they should, but what I also like to point out is the absolute insult GW inflicts on us without order limits AND handing iut special products. EVERY SINGLE semi popular CZcamsr had a Lion painting tutorial or on their table top, even auspex gave away several. And here I am, the end consumer, only getting to watch this unfold as when I tried to buy the website crashed and I got nothing like thousands of other people. It’s sickening honestly.

I really want grey knights paladins or maybe even custodes done similarly to the deathwing knights, it just looks so cool.
I'd say it's only a matter of time before Grey Knight Terminators get the same treatment. That kit is about two years or so older than the previous Deathwing Terminators/Knights kit. Maybe with the GK Codex.
I agree. I think everyone with terminators in their line need them as a release. It's really hard to buy a box of old terminators knowing they're already kind of obsolete. Even scarabs could use a reimagining.
@@theWolfnMiniatures Seeing as how the new regular Deathwing Terminators will just be the normal 10th ed Terminators with a Dark Angels upgrade sprue tossed in, I'm wondering if other Chapter-specific Terminators like Space Wolves and Blood Angels will get a similar treatment, using the regular models as a base and then either a generic or specific upgrade sprue to customize them. Grey Knights would probably get a completely seperate kit though as the details and entire torso look very different than just adding pelts or blood drops.
@@TheStargateNerd true enough, though at these point id just settle for at least an upgrade sprue of shoulder pads and helmets with other little bits. I want my GK termies in this scale so bad
GK army are literally 2 kit, the standard marine and the terminators, its a masterclass of gear options and how to make multibuild kits.
I really hope GW will do them proper justice and release these two kits properly upgrade (and before any new needless bloaty new units).
The cherry on top would be the release of a new GK relic dreadnought (castra ferox) with all the cool gear you could expect the GK to get (a nemesis blade and a heavy spicannon).
On top of that I'd really, REALLY like to see the return of the psicannons for the landraider.
That Watcher In The Dark is actually the coolest part of the upgrades honestly. What a neat little addition from lore to tabletop.
Currently I’m only building lists with Ironstorm or Gladius detachments - and running zero terminators. I’m super hopeful that the codex introduces new options. I would love to see a Deathwing focused detachment, and hopefully some changes to The Lion to make it easier to take in a 2K point list with these high value DW Knights.
I run 10 deathwing knights, a terminator captain attached, and the lion. Makes a scary midfield threat and takes so long to get rid of
@@patykaarplegos6282 that’s a lot of points!! In Ironstorm I run Lion with a combo-weapon lieutenant to give each other Lone Operative and let them run up whatever objective together.
Dreadnoughts do mean things backed up by Tech Marines. Azrael with Company Heroes hold back at home generating CP. infiltrators and scouts deal with things. Inceptors drop in and plasma things that need to get plasma. Whirlwind shoots down at objectives.
Would be happy to see my Dark Angels list play more on theme though with units in actual terminator armor.
Am incredibly excited for the new DA models. Hopefully this set doesn’t sell out instantly

TBH this just makes me want to wait on buying/assembling terminators for any divergent chapter. If Terminator upgrades are on the way for Space Wolves/Blood Angels etc then I see no reason not to wait. Blood Angels assault terminators with an upgrade sprue aren't out of the question now.

one thing i'm enjoying seeing on the new upgrade set is we are finally getting a sculpted phobos shoulderpads... you have no idea how happy that makes me.

@DGWck I couldn't bring myself to buy terminators and then buy a box with 20, lol. Even though these are cool af.
I wish they would have also included a ravenwing shoulder pad. Also thinking that now that the Deathwing Terminators are just regular Terminators with an extra option for heavy weapon and sergeant weapon (looks like there's a Calabanite Greatsword from the Knights on the upgrade sprue) as well as a Watcher, I'm guessing the days of mixing in Lightning Claws and Thunderhammer/Storm Shields are gone (and Assault Terminators may go legends next edition).
Let's fucking hope not. Damn they ruin more things than they fix.
For Assault Terminators, I'm thinking that they're just saving them for next edition or later this edition. They already did a mass culling of the Firstborn kits this edition, if they didn't want the Assault Terminators to stay, they probably would've gotten rid of them.
And in terms of actual model design, they're either going to recycle the Terminator bodies but with new weapons or they're trying to make them more dynamically posed for the melee weapons like the difference between Intercessors and Assault Intercessors. So, I'm thinking that GW is either lazy, they don't want Assault Terminators eating into the sale of the regular Terminators, they're trying to come up with dynamic poses that look convincing with how bulky Terminator armor is, or some combination.
This release is just disappointing. The upgrade sprue is fine., far from great and not enough to get me excited after the loss of detail on the terminators who are just bonewhite Ultras. The knights are fine as well, but again compared to how fantastic the old Deathwing box was, its just meh. The new have better production quality, yet bland designs and lack of options in the box. At least the new Companions make up for it.
If the Deathwing loses its special units rules I'm going back to the index. I won't throw away half my company just because GW is too lazy to maintain old units and replaces them with half-assed boxes. They already sent 60% of my 2750 points Ravenwing to legends this year.
@@erih2934 exactly, the old command box is just better. The more I think about it the more I think they might release a command box later that will cost 70 or 80 retail. They just didn't want to start with that? Idk but I can't afford to replace all the stuff I already bought and hobbied on so if some guy wants to complain about my legends attack bikes and land speeders and older terminator models then maybe I just won't play him I guess. None of this stuff is op, gw just sort of pulled the rug on me arbitrarily and then betting on me buying all new kits I guess. Which makes me want to buy the least amount possible actually. They kind of fucked dark angels players.
@@Optionvideo209 Yeah, its an odd time overall to be an older space marines player. I have a full company of firstborn. I'm not rebuilding my Ravenwing nor Deathwing as they both fit perfectly to the firstborn sizewise. I ended up getting some primaris models, but I'm starting to regret it - except for the blade and stern guard and the upcoming Companions they are just so incredibly bland. Now with the disappointing terminator release I really don't know what I will end up doing as the rules for my models keep getting cut and many don't have fitting primaris rules to proxy - so I guess its legends.
I played 2nd and 3rd edition over 20 years ago. Dark Angels were my ladz. Really liking the cleaner chunkier look on these.
Im def buying a box. I was gonna buy the OG models but once i saw these i knew im gonna wait for it. Now im def getting the Lion. Im a sucker for robes with Space Marines.
I can’t determine the “value” without knowing the price for sure. My gut says if you like everything in the box it’ll probably be worth it.
I’m certainly getting one unless it’s outrageously expensive. I’m a sucker for terminators, and the deathwing knights are just. Gorgeous.
As a newer DA player, this is absolutely a great value for me. 100% will be at my local Warhammer store at 12:00 with credit card in hand.
Get there early, this is an awesome deal as you want to run all of these termies together.
If possible, get the current Deathwing Terminator box as well and build a Command Squad, running a 10-man blob of the Command squad led by a Character in termie armor and a Deathwing Strikemaster is just an awesome experience.
@majorearl12 oh, I go there all the time, I'm the only serious DA player in the area and the employee knows me very well! They don't have a queue in their computers so they get immediate access to everything the minute it goes live. I'll get everything I need.

As a 9th edition player, this box is worst case scenario lol perspective is everything I guess. Compare the old command box to these dudes and let me know what you think after that.
This is a good release; the model sculpts are all great and a seriously good upgrade to the previous version, Deathwing Knights finally have helms, and Belial specifically looks incredible!
Hooded heads gang over here and tabards on everything. That new shit is vanilla. No cap.

@@Optionvideo209 not even that people need to understand that they have butchered the current deathwing kit to give us a one dimensional kit that has two weapon options in it & almost no customisation apart from heads a wep choice compared to the current one which can build 3 different units with loads of bits in it & the new one will prob cost more it’s horrible what gw are doing to sm lots as of late
I dont hate dark angels or anything, but this is a horrible release. 2 upgrade sprues (and pretty mediocre upgrade sprue if I'm honesty, just compare it to imperial guard or others...), 15 terminators (who needs/wants so many? specially when most people already have the 5 from leviathan, so that'd make it 20 for many people), and thats it.
The deathwing termis are nice, but nothing extraordinary honestly. Not so many customizations for premium termis. Just compare this box to other similar ones like Lizardmen's, Imperial Guard, chaos ones... or the christmas battleforces. The dark angels falls short hard.
Got the deathwing terminators box and very glad to see them get an update. They really needed it. People say detail was lost and no ? the tabards are the same, minus a few swords which could not have been sculpted on right. The old kit is janky for that. Just freehand it... The only details lost were on the legs. Those were a bit ugly though.
As for the flail and axe and such, yeah bit of a loss but also we are likely only on two sprues so there's only so much room. You can always make it yourself with chains and glue (might do this now I thought of it)
The box art is incredible!
I am 100% going to try to get myself this box just because this is the main army and chapter I am collecting so to expand my collection this is a perfect way to do it, since I've only just started collecting minis, then for me if it is the same price as the Battleforce boxes I am 100% on board with buying them, just from the fact that I want to get more terminators to grow my Deathwing bit of my army, after that I think I want to buy the Spearhead Battleforce to pick up those outriders for Ravenwing, and then to also add those Jump Intercessors as part of the Greenwing bit of my army.
I think it's a great deal and I picked one up today at a local store. I have almost half my 2,000 point list already. I plan on getting a Land Raider, Land Raider Redeemer, six Blade Guard, a Lieutenant with Storm Shield, a Storm Raven, and another five man Terminator squad. I did the math and that should all be 1,945 points without any upgrades. It should be an interesting list, I don't know how competitive the list will be. I know it will be fun though, the flyer dropping the terminators in my deployment zone and then zooming ahead to shoot.
Big fan of the Deathwing & the models look great. I think the price they sell the upgrade kits for these days is a bit of a joke, this one just about has enough in it but could still feels like it stings.
Overall positive, but I would have liked to see another elite model choice to round up the model count and give it a little flavor.
Pretty great set, but Would’ve liked more knights. I feel like a lot of people have terminators from Leviathan already
It will probably cost the same as the Templars & Cadian one and if it does it’s not worth the price you don’t get enough bits for a full squad of any kit your better off just buying the company vets and ravenwing upgrade sprues instead of this

I'm thinking I might want to pick up a pair of the existing deathwing boxes before they go the way of the dodo. The bits inside will mostly still be relevant going forward, even if the torsos will be outscaled by the newer terms.

I don't even play the game but in terms of hobbying all terminator deals for me get weighed against the existence of the HH Cataphractii or Tartaros terminators, and I assume this would translate over to any play environment that is okay with pretty close GW-made proxies. They're new models themselves and closer to half the price of 40K terminators per model. Have a few of the old Dark Vengeance terminators, plus the leviathan terminators still to put together, but beyond that I find it tough to envision myself deciding to buy a box of 5 current terminators over 10 still very cool HH ones.

Im not sure i can justify getting this, especially after having twins.
I do however, wish they included the Companions in this box. I will find a way to justify getting them as they are such a good looking model.

This gives me big “collectors edition” vibes. Similar to the black templar box that came out before the general release of the models, with honestly cheaper ways to get all of it. Still super tempted though!

I would really love to get my hands on a box, so hope they are not sold out that extremely fast. Black Templar players like the style too. Secondly I just hope we see something for Ravenwing too, 1 back banner is not that much when outriders come in box of 3. Hope for new special units of Ravenwing like speeders and Black Knights as so much was removed at the start of this edition.

Even as a wolves person this box looks very cool tempted to get it as a start to a DA army. Would kinda be a cheap army to start I guess 2 of these boxes would be close enough to 2k points

Im so conflicted as I have recently gotten back into the hobby and have built up a deathwing army of a 10 man squad of knights, 10 man deathwing command squad, and 2 5 man squads of terminators as well as belial and the lion as my heroes…. I plan on getting more “stuff” for my army due to some xmas gift cards. Any suggestions on what I should get? I like this box alot but it doesn’t seem worth as I already have these models. However they are the smaller older versions so im quite conflicted!

As much as i like the new sculpts, it is a bit concerning that the deathwing box which came with options to build essentially 3 different squad types with all the bells and whistles + extras is no getting relegated to just an upgrade spure and knight's going into a separate box.
Not to mention how ridiculous it is to include just a singular ravenwing tail wing on the sprue.
Honestly i might just stock up on the current boxes

I hope the DW Knights have an alternate build with maces. I'm not sure why GW seems intent on removing hammers and blunt weapons from the game. It seems like it comes back to "All weapons must be equal".
Free wargear has been a disaster for game tbh.

I was expecting this to be more in line with other launch boxes which have been sold at 155 euros, not 180. Maybe it will go up a bit up to 160 but anything more than that and the box is staying on the shelf

i got one box just now for 140€ which i think is a good price. I know termies are not that good currently but they are decent point wise so i can get some units on the table. any advice on what weapons to go for on the termies? i guess launcher and powerfist?
Probably gonna be somewhere around the 155-170€/120-135£/around 200$ mark, going by recent army box releases. It's not like the really reinvent the wheel when it comes to pricing. Gonna buy it, gonna love it.

I need to think about how much work it’ll take to make the Knights un-dark angels-afied. Belial being a one off even if it’s harder will be fine to turn into a unique terminator captain but 5 knights? Hmmmmmm
Shoulder pads and shields are dead easy to file down. The really issue is the torso and whether the robes fit the aesthetic of your chapter.
@@niklas3947 True. Raven Guard successor so even the feather stuff is okay. It’s the DA chest pieces with the sword inplace of the eagle/skull/jewell + robes + icons on top of robes/other icons that take the place of more generic ones that are troublesome. I hope we see the sprues before pre-order(we generally do)
There is so little DA-iconography on those minis that I'm not even sure I will bother getting them as a DA-player :D
I think you will be fine. The terminators are just regular ones, the knights have only the one shoulder pad, one has a small symbol on the chest and 2 have winged sword chest icons. Shields are generic enough that with different colors you won't be thinking of DA. Belial has just the small shiled that can be replaced, shoulder pad, symbol on the scrabbard (that won't be noticable if you paint it in a way to not draw attention) and the icon on this back which can be easily cut and replaced.
How available do you think these will be? I'm hoping to get two for my bday.

I already have Belial and an Apocalypse Deathwing force of 50 terminators/knights. I will buy a couple of these boxes; im looking forward to doing some freehand work on them. Also hoping to get a Lion miniature in 2024, he has always been sold out every time i checked 🦁
Just a little something. The parts to build Deathwing Command Squad were in the box of the Deathwing Knights before. So far we didn´t see the sprues, so there might be a chance that they are in there too. But personally I doubt it.
let's hope but knowing GW, they would have shown them already. That's a big miss for me. The deathwing command squad is iconic. and now I even doubt we will still have datasheet for it.
The Deathwing Terminator box actually has sprues for Knights, Command, or normal termies. I have 3 boxes of them and way to many extra parts that i'll probably get someone to 3d print and have more termies.

I went and counted my terminators this afternoon, I have 10 knights, 15 assorted deathwing command, th/ss, generalists and 5 new styles from leviathan. I even gave my son a box of assault termies as I had so many. Everything tells me I do not need this.

I doubt the datasheet cards will be $35 unless they have all the Marine ones as well. The upgrade sprues are also not going to be $35 each.
How good is it? Does it matter? It won’t be available for FLGS to pre order, and will sell out in seconds on GW official to be scalped for 200% + MRSP on eBay. Especially if it’s the first place that Belial and the Knights will be available
