- ONE-POCKET: SHANNON “The Cannon” DAULTON and “The South Dakota Kid”, SHANE VAN BOEING met in the 2015 Derby City Classic 1-Pocket division. Daulton, 42, just won the 2015 Bank Pool division. He also won the 2014 1-Pocket division. Van Boening, 31, just won the 2015 Big Foot Challenge and the Challenge of Champions.
Mark Wilson and Danny DiLiberto were in the booth.

I can't stand to listen to him! He says a ball isn't going to drop and then it drops! He's an absolute bore to listen to and his bickering among his fellow commentators makes him that much worse. I wish he'd quit the business all together!

Shannon waited to see the speed of Shane's lag before he lagged, giving him a substantial advantage. I don't know how players get away with that.

I saw a comment the other day saying Shane can boening chokes in matches and I hope the person who commented that see this video and this comment Shane did not choke on a single shit this game if it was an open shot that wasn’t a bank he made it I don’t really see many mistakes Shane made besides maybe like not the best positioning on a ball or 2 and that 1 scratch I believe he did but mistakes happen and I wouldn’t count those as chokes I’d just count those as simple mistakes that could have gave up the 1 rack but definitely not the game but when the other guy did that foul and gave Shane the bank on the 11 ball I believe it was in the last rack that was the match ender u cannot give Shane that layout with that easy of a bank that’s wide open that gives position on a wide open ball because chances are if Shane gets position on a single ball with ANY KIND OF ANGLE that doesn’t lead straight to a scratch he’s going to get position on any ball he desires and he’s gonna run out that’s why he’s such an amazing rotation player because he runs patterns like no one else in the game of pool today I truly believe the only players that can keep up with Shane in rotation are 1 Fedor gorst 2 Jayson Shaw 3 Joshua Filler and 4 Albin Ouschan that’s it besides MAYBE FSR or FRS I don’t know his name I just know the initials and it’s one of em but that’s it I don’t not believe there’s another player can keep up or beat Shane van boening when he’s in stroke besides the players that I’ve named on a 9 ft table but on a 10 foot table the only person I believe that can beat Shane CONSISTENTLY is Fedor Gorst and that’s because growing up he played on 12 snooker tables and 10 ft pool tables in Russia and if you’ve ever played on a snooker table even 1 time in ur life you’d know how tight those pockets are I honestly cannot believe how snooker players can fire a ball into a pocket on one of those tables the pockets are EXTREMELY TIGHT compared to how big the balls are yes snooker balls are smaller but snooker pockets are tighter too it truly amazes me how they can shoot a ball full force from 12 feet away and make it not even rattle the ball just goes in into the heart of the pocket it’s truly amazing I will say that snooker players are better at pocketing balls into different parts of a pocket on a pool table just because they are used to playing with tighter pockets wich means when they play on a pool table they have more room that usual for the ball to go into the pocket and usually pro pool tables are 9 feet pro snooker tables are 12 so a snooker player has 3 less feet to worry about the shots are short wich means the shots are easier but the reason pool players are better at pool than snooker players (especially in rotation games 9ball and 20 balls) is in snooker half the time you’re just playing position on reds and there’s a lot of reds on the table but in rotational pool you’re playing position on just 1 ball at a time but not only that you have to get the right angle to get on the next 5-6 balls atleast to run out because you get the wrong angle or get straight in on the wrong ball u might as well not even make the ball and just play a safety because you know you won’t make the next one because you don’t have the correct angle but snooker players to play position to but nowhere to the degree as pool players also pool players play kino shots you don’t play jumps in snooker at all you’re not allowed to snooker and pool are 2 totally different games but the equipment of the games are similar but they’re not the same even the cues in snooker and pool are different like carbon fiber pool cues a lot of players use carbon fiber for pool but snooker players don’t there might be carbon fiber snooker cues but i haven’t ever seen a snooker player play with one but I also don’t watch snooker the size of the shafts are different snooker cues have smaller top sizes bc the balls are smaller if u played snooker with a pool cue the amount of power you’d have on the cue ball would probably almost 1/3 more than a regular snooker cue also the wood made with snooker cues and pool cues are different usually pool cues are made with maple I don’t know what snooker cues are made of but I do know if u played pool with a snooker cue you’d have more spin on the ball because the tip size is smaller so you can make contact higher and lower on the cue ball that’s why pool cues have different tip sizes because the smaller the tip size the more spin u put on the ball but also the smaller the tip the less accurate you’ll be or should I say you have to be more precise where you put your tip because you will miss if you put your tip in the same place as you would as a bigger cue
