This sounds like a nod to Elfman. Also the record hiss and pops works as an interesting texture, adding to the saudade. Best piece on the album. My two cents.
The use of metropolis is so brilliant here. The only thing I would put in this league are thoe old Bela Tarr "Satantango" clips that were put to modest mouse's "Lonesome Crowded West" but they are all long gone
