ACA Hurricane MK II located at Milwaukee Fire Department Station 39 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Alert for 1 minute
Attack for 1 Minute
Ah yes, a relic in the siren recording community. This is the only remaining ACA Hurricane MK II that is in operation. Despite living in central Minnesota, I finally found my opportunity to scratch this one off of the list while visiting my folks in southern Wisconsin for the weekend. Amid rumors that Milwaukee County is going to be replacing their older sirens (mainly the numerous amount of P-50's) this siren is NOT on the chopping block. ASC, which is right down the street, will be upkeeping this siren for as long as it is willing to live. - Komedie
Ah yes. The ACA Hurricane. The last one in service.
Awesome!
Nice!
They should lubricate the blower again so it doesn’t seize up (if that’s possible)
I heard rumors that they are gonna replace the stock blower with a thunderbolt 5M blower when they start replacing all the other sirens besides this one.
@@zachzebra56nope this is getting replaced as well
@@SirensOfWisconsin1679 Really? Cause everyone is saying this isn't being replaced. I think the county EMA and SWS confirmed it too. Unless your talking about it getting an indirect replacement then yes. Even then though, this siren will still operate on the new system. The indirect replacement is going up at the ASC headquarters just a few blocks away from this siren.
@@zachzebra56 ok
@@zachzebra56 doubt theyll replace the blower, but who knows
i wonder if ASC will go the whole 9 yards and restore it? May be worth it for historical value as the siren's been there (at least) since the ACA 1979 video.
I'm not sure about a full-restore, but they are going to continue keeping this in working order, I heard of a possible relocation to the ASC headquarters right down the road. Either way, I appreciate them doing this. It's a piece of history!
Can I buy it?
Does anyone know what will happen to the p-50s? Will they be scrapped or saved? I'm sure other towns might need them.
From what I heard I think they will be giving them to other communities outside of Milwaukee County, probably to fill some gaps or replace sirens that are even older than the P-50'S
Is this the last Huricane
@@fs_sd-10in service, yes.
Would you mind if I used the audio from this for a game I'm making with my friend?
Go right ahead!
That old junk is still kicking?
Yup
I wouldn't call something junk if it's been kicking since the 70s with little to no maintenance... pretty impressive if you ask me
It isn't junk if it has been working for a long time. The blower is still working, even after sounding like death for years!
It’s not Junk. Everything but the Blower is Working.
It shouldn’t but it is
