I’m so glad to know I’m not the only person who understands the stupidity in school rules. In my middle school, there was a kid who punched me in the face. Now, the teachers very clearly saw him do that. They were literally looking in our direction. And after the dude punched me, I punched him back. And guess what happened? The dumbass teachers sent me to the principal’s office, while the kid basically got off scot-free. I swear to god, the school system is so, so stupid.
like if a kid hits me they don't get in trouble but if I hit them back I go to the principals office😠

at my school, i dont know how it started, but the girls would write really positive and inpirational quotes and stuff in the stalls, full paragraphs of letting you know its ok be not be ok and just really nice things, when id go to the bathroom it was so uplifting to see. the teachers found out and at the next assembl they were like 'we know its really nice stuff but its still graffitti' and repainted everything :(
In my school, I saw a bunch of paper on walls saying inspirational quotes and one was "you are beautiful," and I wrote "Sure, (doubt)," on it and then it got covered up a few classes later. 😂😂😂

As someone who went to a school where uniforms are required, the teachers say that it's to prevent people being harassed and bullied for wearing cheap clothes, especially if a student is poor and can't afford new clothes. So by having everyone wear the same thing then no one is judged. The other reason was to 'represent the school' when we were on a excursion or carnival

a boy in my 4th grade class needed to go to that bathroom so bad and the teacher refused. you could see this man suffering. he asked like 5 seperate times and the teacher said no everytime. it was to the point where he just peed all over the ground and the teacher was shouting at him. i was sitting there like "tfffffff your the one that didnt let him go to the toilet" (funny thing is the teacher had to clean it up because a 4th grader doesnt know how to)

I had a stupid rule in school which was that we could only have water whenever we want in summer but only on other seasons we can only have water once a day

In my personal experience, hats were banned at my school, but that rule wasn't enforced, so I pulled up to school rocking a cap and no one really cared so I'm confused
My school banned wearing hoods but not hats and that's because earpods are harder to hide under hats, for clarification you can wear a hoodie but not put the hood over your head

9:16 This literally happened to me, except it was a drill and not the real thing. But we had a substitute teacher during English, she couldn’t access the classroom closet for us to hide and was unable to lock the door, so we were really dreading the situation. A minute later a student farted, and the classroom door opened and we all thought we were gonna die, but it was just the principal.
A rule that was added to our school is that we have to measure the exact time we go to the toilet and come back, because there has been rubbish and other things being put into sinks, urinals, etc.

One dookie rule in my school is that you gotta wear a hall pass to go to the restroom or any part of the building but it’s not enforced so some people don’t follow it and recently the teachers have been forced to lock the doors incase of a threat which basically traps you in with the threat if they’re in your class

My high school had a rule where you can't talk to opposite gender because they didn't want students to be in relationships...once they called a guy's parents just for asking notes from a girl (her parents were called too).. Teacher even talked about it in our classes... But then then no one gave a sh*t about the rue in a few days and everything was back to normal... Idk why school goes through so much mental gymnastics to try and control situations they can't control

There’s literally good reasons to: paying more attention which can lead to a bigger attention span, actually passing your exams so that you get into a good high school (if elementary wise) or college or university.

The issue with phones specifically in class is that kids nowadays spend 100% of their time browsing TikTok the whole period instead of actually doing their work. Kids need to learn that you cant always use your phone every second of every day. it's okay to be bored.
You have very good points here man, and I've dealt with the vast majority of the rules mentioned here as well needless to say but if you want to hear something even crazier my middle school would also even have rules on raising hands just to throw lunch trash away, not failing any classes or having recent writeups before dances and other events, and even staying in your seat right before the bell rings which were also the stupidest rules a human being could've made up.

I went to high school from 2012-2016. We started at 7:30am. Bro knows I'm not getting class on time. Sleeping and watching Malcolm in the middle was so much better. We petitioned to start school at 8:30, that didn't get implemented until I graduated T.T
Yeah that's stupid. High school should not start at that time & also you shouldn't be there for like 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 10 months out of the year.. You shouldn't repeat that for 5 years just to get a high school diploma.
I used to go to College afterwards & it was way better. It was way more structured, they recommend you not taking more than 3 courses. Also with 3 courses, you would go to school like 1-3 times a week depending what you chose for your times. Courses lasted 1 hour each. Then you would go home & do homework, you would have an outline basically telling you what pages you needed to study & when the tests were...School year would be done like 2-3 months..Then off for like 3 maybe & pick another 3 courses to finish your program

Throughout 3-9th grade the girls weren't allowed to wear shirts with straps less than two fingers but the guys were perfectly fine and it was like this because the girls would "distract the students" even tho it was obvious that it was distracting most of the male and sometimes female teachers. I have to wake up at 6 for an HOUR LONG bus ride and then school starts at 7:30, my 1st period is literally 7:45-9:00. The good thing about my early start time is we get let out at 2:35... for another hour long bus ride, so I really get home around 3:30 just to do homework and go to bed at 9:30.

the dumbest rule for me is the bathroom rule. in 1st period, i only get 4 passes every semester. i always drink water in this class, so i have to wait until 2nd period, but i have to wait another 10 minutes due to the 10 minute rule, which means you can’t go outside in the first or last 10 minutes. once my teacher yelled at me for not getting permission to do a BASIC HUMAN NEED. i don’t get why you need a pass, wait for other people to go, and can’t go at the beginning or end of class. the rule will also make my dehydrated because i also go to refill my water.

In my school everyone eats the same lunch in the same cafeteria and the food they provide us is straight up disgusting. You can’t bring your own lunch since they say people can get jealous. So we all eat the same disgusting awful food. And if you don’t like the food then you might as well starve.

7:31 as somebody who has a sister there was a shit ton of rules like some of these even applied to the boys. I’m pretty sure tank tops had to follow the two finger rule crop tops were not allowed or even making any type of tank top or shirt into a crop top. Our school had uniforms but you weren’t required to wear them. It’s just that if you felt like it you could, but you didn’t need to.

A dumb school rule that my school has is mandatory drug tests. We all go the gym and wait to see who gets “randomly” called - the tests weren’t random, they either called the known druggies or the good kids depending if whether or not they(the faculty) should actually do their job that week. Also the tests aren’t even that accurate because we take hair follicle tests but they cut your hair (????) One other black girl who had her hair in braids had to cut a braid while others didn’t have to. And you can’t skip the drug test or not get up because they’ll call your parents or you get detention. AND if you do fail the tests they make sure to tell your guardian as a way to “help you get help”… like no, you’re helping us get our asses beat🤡🤡☠️☠️

Yeah rules are really fucked up. When I was at 3 to 5th grade my teacher made us copy EVERY SINGLE DOTS AND WORDS IN YOUR NOTEBOOK! My fingers still hurts when thinking about it.
I go to a school that has uniforms, and they're still strict with the dress code. We're not allowed to wear sports uniform before school if we have PE as our first period (we did this to save time changing) because it's "not representing the school properly", even though the clothes still have the school logo on them. We have to wear white socks for some reason, boys have to wear ties in the winter, and during special assemblies, we have to wear blazers, even if it's the middle of summer. And if teachers find out we're not wearing the uniform correctly, we get a "uniform slip" and, depending on how many we already have, we either get a detention or suspension. So far I have 2 uniform slips, one for wearing sports uniform before school when I wasn't supposed to, and another for wearing black socks!
And yes, the prices are absurd. A tie costs $20, a shirt costs $35, long pants are $50, jackets are $75, and blazers are $200!

Almost all the rules schools had in the video were basically the rules I have at my school. The teachers there say we can't have hoods on in case if we had wireless earbuds in our ears.
In a 6th grade fire drill I had the class acted realistic and instantly ran then the small door people were trying to get through was getting crowded and it turned into the Travis Scott concert

The dumbest school rule for me is if you are absent sick with a fever, vomiting, basically in the hospital, u have to tell why you were absent and the worst thing is that being absent and the reason is justified, they put the absence, like they don't care what happened to you
Crazy thing is waking up at 5:00 just to get ready before school starts , Then don’t get me started on no food during class rule that’s some bullshit rule nobody follows now and days honestly
In my high school experience, as a Freshman I have seen some school rules lately perhaps I am still following them because I don’t want to get myself trouble I mean well some people would cuss or fight with each other in the hallway ( it happens like 2 or 3 times) I am not seem to remembering it but sometimes some people will show up late during instruction time or something because I used to be late around 1-2 mins or 2-3 mins depend on the traffic or even weather in here so yeah… That’s the thing!!!!

Teacher here: In my experience hat and hood bans are enforced as part of the dress code primarily to help with identifying students on security cameras better when needed. Depends on the school though I’ve taught at schools that don’t care. Teacher’s are expected to uphold school policies, so if it exists and a teacher doesn’t snipe it it can come back at us 🤷♂️💯

Clearly they need a security system upgrade if it’s that unclear. That’s literally like a low blow excuse. The only reason this rule came to be is cause of covid. Everybody was wearing mask and on top of having mask they were also wearing beanies snd hoodies at the same time.

Last Spring, my school made an announcement that electronic devices will be banned after a week long break and if they caught anyone with a phone, they would take it for a day, or week or month or the whole school year. The reason was because that there were lazy kids who would record in the classroom when the teacher would go get papers from the staff room or if they had to go to the bathroom.
