    Have had one for about almost a year now and have been around expensive mics in recording studios since the 70's. IMHO, the 440 would be a great mic at any price point. Simple; no bells and whistles; single pattern without switches, pads, roll-offs, etc. Hence the "Pure." A great price for the sound is the best way to put it. Very quiet, clear and detailed. And it's nice to look at.

    I like how the lower fequencies seem to be boosted on the NT2-A compared to the 440, but I love how the brighter higher frequencies on the Lewitt give your voiceover greater clarity over the Rode, so the Lewitt wins by a nose for me. The 440 Pure is already on my purchase list, and I'll be interested to hear it compared with my old NT2 & NT1 mics. Thanks for the demo video.

    • @GamerToday
      @GamerToday Před 5 měsíci +1

      @ludde9214 Depends on your voice but condenser wise your best comparison is nt1 2nd or 3rd vs the lewit.
      Other side grade option is an mv7.
      Depends on your goal to fix your sound too regarding that high or low end.
      Sound wise if your room or noise level is low enough it could be worth it. Consider where your pc is and room noise and also how far the mic will be from your mouth.
      Singing wise for sure worth it if room has decent dampening or isn't a mess. If so hang heavy blankets or use a closet or mattress or purchase a enclosure.
      All depends on your use cases and what bothers you about your current mic.

    I chose the lewett simply because of the small form factor, I'm most often doing location based work, and the foam windscreen included, with a shock mount that' doesn't take up 1sq ft - the micro nuances of sound quality become secondary!

    Hey. Interesting and nicely presented video, Man. You asked the difference between the : LCT440 an the U89i. To my hearing, U89i sounds a little Nicer. When you check it. It should sound Massively Greater. But it doesn't. Modern Technical Advancement is taking on the Big Expensive Veterans. We don't have to be Rich to own our own recording studio's anymore. Here ya go. My headphones are Sony MDR-7506. The specs on the LCT 440 are amazing. I wouldn't sell "the chonker" NT2A short. I found it restful to my ears. The Neumann was like comparing a race horse to a Zebra. The U89i was buttery with a touch of cassis and should go well with any main dish on the menu. I feel like I just compared vinyl records to CDs with the Lewitt perhaps a bit cold, a little too perfect. Maybe I'll hear one in person and change my mind.

    I have the 441 flex (multi pattern) it’s painful to use due to the shock mount, because as you demonstrated, it’s impossible to rotate/ twist which you need to do with various patterns. To do so, you need to buy another mic holder but it isn’t a shock mount and you need to buy a new pop shield for!

    I "dislike" the Lewitt sound on my voice - I just think they sound too bright and much prefer mics that just have a tad less presence. I ironically say this as someone who recently picked up a RE27N/D the brightest, by far, of the RE mics... though I use the -3db top end roll off at the moment which makes it only the brightest of the REs and not the brightest "by far" lol. So my opinion of what I think I like vs. what actually sounds good may be skewed ;)
    That said, what they make is of really high quality and I would gladly use a Lewitt mic on just about anything except my own voice, I especially look forward to hearing any upcoming instrument tests where their sound profile may be particularly wonderful.

    in my dynaudio's Bm5... The lewitt had less roundness in the lower register comparerd to neumann and Rode. But in a mix context where we may then to remove that roundness in the voice... Lewitt could stand out too

    For me all those mics sounds better than this Lewitt! This AKG sounds really similar but without that treble harshness. NT1A is a standard - still like better in your voice. And Neumann is a Neumann - full, detailed, neutral sound. You can't go wrong with it. But Lewitt sounds for my ears like there is too much harshness in the top end. Of course you can use EQ to deal with it but not every mics like to treat them with EQ, so I would rather choose mic which is transparent and flat and then EQ to my preferences than carve sound from a little bit too harsh mic and looking for where is the annoying freq range to cut. Thanks for this comparison! Now I know that I can looking for elswhere than Lewitt.

      @@BamaRick Very cool. Lewitt makes some great mics.
      I come from a photography/videography background, where everyone loves to compare camera bodies and lenses. A typical lens costs more than an SM7B, so coming to the voice recording world I'm tempted to try all sorts of mics because they "seem" so inexpensive in comparison. But I'm not made of money, so I'm going to have to cut down on my mic comparison video watching and enjoy what I have.

    If a simple employee from AKG creates his own company and works with other staff, it does not mean that he becomes the new AKG or that he continues and is the one who carries on the tradition of the company that I just defended. I know the story of Roman Perschon, told by him himself, and he stated that he left AKG precisely because he was not satisfied with the sound philosophy of the AKG company and the traditional way of manufacturing microphones. In addition, Roman Perschon is single and left the AKG company, in which he no longer believed. Instead, the engineers and all the other employees of AKG bought all the production equipment owned by AKG and founded the company Austrian Audio. This wonderful team produces microphones with the same machines and with the same people and engineers at AKG. Roman Perschon produces his microphones in Clina with other equipment and not even one employee from the old AKG accompanied him to China to work on his project. Under these conditions, I ask the basic question, if I feel good. What is the next AKG?
