Love it! When counting strides I find it helpful to count "one-2-3-4, two-2-3-4, three-2-3-4" = 3 strides. So you don't have to count on your fingers, you're counting your strides as you go. I always mess up otherwise :)
Do you have to like learn the courses on the spot on the day? Or do you get like a sheet of the course to set up and practice like before the competition???

they will set up the course in the morning and you can walk it.
