Civilization V Nuclear Missiles Destroying Cities

- čas přidán 22. 02. 2011
- In Civ 5 the nuclear missile unit can be used to destroy a city. Only a city that is not an original capital city can be destroyed. City-states cannot be destroyed even if they have been annexed, which makes them useful to take over if you're facing a nuclear-armed opponent.
One missile cruiser can destroy an entire civilization in one turn. This is why cities have to be spaced out with more than three tiles between them. You lose the ability to bombard enemies from multiple cities, but it is harder for nuclear opponents to wipe out your cities. - Hry
gets nuked several times

You are you using a " L " instead of a " i " at the beginning ?????
SchmitShot ! haha
Yeah, you can build a wat
The first time I launched a nuke, I had no idea that there'd be such a thing as "friendly fire"...
"This ones for 1776 bitch!"
Sid Meier's *Fallout* : A "One More Turn" Post Nuclear Role Playing Game
*Ghandi Intensifies*
I feel robbed.
ReDleGiThacK Gandhi is angry because people cant spell GANDHI right
Nuclear weapons are so damn scary that even a video game clip like this gives me chills. Their power is so fucking insane.
Once you wield nuclear weapons you have nuclear domination
do you know whats more destructive than a nuclear bomb?
WORDS....
Toprak özdemir "Hate us cause they anus"
shibby dibby I feel you 100%. When I get access to nuclear missiles I feel like i'm the most powerful and I feel bad when using them on people. But when another country builds the Manhattan project I either keep them as a friend or prepare for a total war.
I usually cause dilutes when I have nuclear weapons anybody the same
i didnt know gandhi used youtube
Step 1: Be first to make Nukes and build up large arsenal.
Step 2: Vote Nuclear Non-Proliferation in World Congress so no one else can get any.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit.
that's what the US, Britain and france tried to do in the real world as well
While they aimed to nuke the soviet union and china back to the stone age
I like starting nuclear wars cuz it looks cool
Nice oversimplified reference
Hahahaha
war...war never changes
or does it?
it just gets deadlier

Fallout 4 anyone?
“Where there is love, there is life. Unless you nuke the fuck out of life.”
-Mahatma Ghandi
I have close to 600 hours of this game and i had NO IDEA nukes can ultimately destroy a city :D oh and, having nukes makes all AI players poop their pants/loincloths/armors
stormtrooper86 how tf can you play 600 hours of civ and not know you can nuke cities to the ground? Most fun thing to do when you already won the game and still have some nukes lying around :)
Koen Willemen because I win LONG BEFORE nukes are a legit thing
then you should up your difficulty
Koen Willemen if they add a level above Deity, then I will :)
gg
Once, in a multiplayer war against a friend, I faced a well-defended city on an isthmus that blocked the way to his core. It would have made for a long and brutal footslog, except I had just produced two nuclear missiles and loaded them aboard submarines off the coast. One turn later the city did not exist; its location was now a radioactive highway for my panzer divisions, racing northward.
steps to have fun in civilization
create your own independent nation
name it sky-net
have it launch nukes at every human settlement on earth.
+midgerm The cost for that is over 9.000.000
+Dildo Faggins :)
midgerm There is actually a Skynet civilization mod on the Steam Workshop. You can make that dream a reality.
I fucking love this game, ever since my friends introduce me to it i been playing it none stop. I'm just minding my own business trying to win a scientific or cultural victory and some ass hole has to declare war on little old me, so i nuke their cities several times and they come begging for peace, then im like (smirk).
Im the one who go's after them ":)
I had a similar issue. I'm just taking care of my guys, getting them up to fire arms and modern technology, then the mongols start tearing through russia to get to me. I didn't want that so I started tearing their stuff up. Eventually the world hated me so I decided to go all world tyrant on all of them
This game is very complicated, im afraid
is there any good tutorial?
Tamir Burstein not at all, when i firsty got it i jumped in not knowing what i was doing with my friends in multi player matches but you get the hang of it. Play a few matches in a low dificulty.
Johnsue Rivera I don't have the multiplayer
you suggest i start with easy difficulty on small duel map?
I've had a game of this where several powers developed nukes.
It seems that the AI is rather...nuke happy... I had to push through Nuclear Non-Proliferation in the UN just to keep them from irradiating the crap out of each other.
Thank goodness the UN MUST be followed in Civ, unlike the real world.
Dammit George Washington looks so sad.....
I feel bad after killing him in a game
Dirk Molek I did twice
Muhammad Irfan Muzhaffar Darmawan
I feel bad Whenever I take out Haile Selassie :( .
Julio Medina-Dow I played as Haile Selassie too and nuked Washington when he declared war, and then he made peace with me after like 40-50 turns.
I know I read his civ entry and looked him
up in real life. He just runs away with culture and wonders/religion so I have to put a stop to him :(. Also I am usually a war monger so he denounces me. I have learned to play culturally since this comment but I would stand by my actions. He is awesome an awesome man.
"I trust you will be merciful in victory."
said right after of being blown to pieces by nuclear bombs
Why immediately annex? City revolts for X turns (city size).
I think he have taken Order. There is a level 3 Policy which deliver "Insta-courthouses"
Taking certain traits in Autocracy (like a happy 😊 for every barracks and armory) usually puts me over 100 happiness and I never worry again about courthouses or happiness.
THE GLOW. THE WONDERFUL GLOW. CAN YOU NOT SEE IT, GENERAL?
The fact that you can destroy cities with nukes unlike in civ 4 when they only bombarded cities.
Gandhi, are you being a warmonger again?
remember when field of poppies played the first time you atomic bombed the city 3 times then nuked that sum bitch then field of poppies played then as you watched all the enemy units just vanish and all you hear are screams in the faint distant cities while you army walks up and see the ruins ? i felt like an asshole and couldn't bring my self up to even play anymore
Thus is the fate of all nations that refuse to buy my civ's blue jeans.
Wow...you dropped 3 nukes on a civilization that was hundreds of years from even knowing what a nuke was. I congratulate you on that good sir :)
I once dropped 9 nukes on a country that didn't even have the printing press.
@@thegunman2841 how were you so much more advanced than them lmao

I'm sitting here scrolling my mouse trying to zoom in.
Missile cruisers are so OP.
Gotta love 'em.
This makes we wish that the Civ series still had the "Nanite Diffuser" from the "Call to Power" games...
Washington is a nuclear wasteland, yet on the leader screen it seems like it's the perfect day for a picnic.
YOU KILLED GEORGIE 😭
@webblayne What difficulty do you normally play on?
Holy shit.... that water is so detailed!!

+Telecaster Magician Think of the children!
that escalated quickly
Missles are for units, Bombs for cities !
I don't think Washington is going to like that pal. Good work!
Love is in the air. I love how everyone loves how things are.
I see trees of green. Red roses too. I see them bloom, for me and you. And I think to myself, "what a wonderful world."
"The glow the wonderfull glow!!! Can you not see it general???"
Alright, good job, now you own one small, crappy city surrounded by nuclear fallout. Seems like a win to me...
The most advanced and addicting game of chess you'll ever play.
Good thing I still have that old fallout shelter, eh? eh??
Owh.....!!! Cool! the song right before the nuke was English Civilization theme for golden Era. and then right after the first nuke, the song changed rapidly. Eeerie.
War... War never changes.
♪ I don't want to set the world on fire.
I just want to start a flame in your heart. ♫
i have a question what makes the nuke more powerful, dropping it in the city or near it
The cold war simulation looks very good
i finished like about 40 games in civ 5 (all dlc) and i still didn't nuke a country...i dont know i just cant do that...i am feeling bad for the people :(
it's a bitch to clean up, I'd rather just wait till the GDRs get online
You are not the only one, when I'm forced to nuke (happened twice: Poland was trying to kill my beloved Netherlands and Greece was doing the same.. curious, if the Netherlands are my ally they are destined to be attacked!) I always feel bad and go for "Nuclear Non-Proliferation" at the World Congress ç_ç
Frizzlecrank Man, I must be heartless. I finished my second full game today, and I ended up winning only because I nuked Siam when they were like, five turns away from a cultural victory over me. They were fighting super hard and killing everything I threw at them, so when the bomb finally dropped I was going "HA, IN YOUR FACE, SUCKER!"
Long story short I'm a horrible monster, never vote for me for president.
Amun-Ra who'd vote for you? you already have divine right be default, you silly sun god you! ;)
Amun-Ra Oh but that's different.
Everyone hates Siam.
(or well I do because they always hate me)
Ahhhh
The welcoming sounds of Ghandi.
0:43, Dammit, you just killed me! (I live in New York. Not as polluted as you think).
The first time you launch a nuclear bomb in Civ 5, your face, your emotion, your brain saying: That will do it... That will do it.
"Shall I push the button?"
Love the original quality!
The game is set for the units to be huge so you can see them, the normal world is probably a mile for every tile.
Washington: I hope you will be merciful in your triumph.

Boom goes the dynamite!
My leaders don't move when I play, they just talk.

AWESOME!!!
Say it to me. At game terms, when Egypt built Manhattan Project I was hurry to get Diplomacy Victory... He got Uranium, he denounced me and he was my neighbour... (I built that project too... but he used to have +50% hammers than me!)
That was the worst experience... And it reminded me the Cold War... and Iran and North Korea of today :S
"The day is yours, I hope you will be merciful in your triumph."
... right after he fucking nukes EVERYTHING.
It makes you feel bad with you self when you start hear the screams of the population.
welcome to the watch list
I think he means in-game, in terms of how far their tech-tree was behind.
Thus Fallout began.
You're in a Golden Age... a Golden Age of Armageddon!

Title Screen: FALLOUT
The scene focuses on a Radiation King-brand TV set that's somehow still functional among a nuclear-wrecked cityscape. The song "Maybe" by The Inkblots starts to play in the background. On the TV screen, there's a black screen with the following message in box: "Our dedicated boys keep the peace in newly annexed Canada."
The TV then shows a scene in which there are two U.S. soldiers in power armor, along with a captured Canadian protester who's kneeling with his head down. One of the soldiers mercilessly shoots the protester dead, while the other one watches. The shooter then waves his non-weapon hand at the camera. Then, we get a close-up view of the shooter's power helmet-covered head, with a waving American flag in the background. Then, the TV screen switches over to some eagle seal image, along with the message, "BUY WAR BONDS".
Then, the TV screen shows an advertisement for a Chryslus-brand automobile, the Corvega, which boasts that it has no computers or electronics. And that it costs "only" $199,999.99. Then it goes to another commercial, this time a commercial of the Mr. Handy domestic robot. Message: "Mr. Handy: he's sooooo handy. Walks the dog..." Then, the TV glitches out as the song "Maybe" gets stuck on "Maybe Maybe Maybe Maybe..." And then, as the TV screen goes dark, all is silent.
Narrator: War. War never changes. The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower. But war never changes. In the 21st century, war was still waged over the resources that could be acquired. Only this time, the spoils of war were also its weapons: petroleum and uranium. For these resources, China would invade Alaska; the U.S. would annex Canada; and the European Commonwealth would dissolve into quarreling, bickering nation states bent on controlling the last remaining resources on Earth. In 2077, the storm of world war had come again. In two brief hours, most of the planet was reduced to cinders. And from the ashes of nuclear devastation, a new civilization would struggle to arise. A few were able to reach the relative safety of the large underground Vaults. Your family was part of that group that entered Vault 13. Imprisoned safely behind the large Vault door, under a mountain of stone, a generation has lived without knowledge of the outside world. Life in the Vault is about to change.

@zymethpwn This is skyrim right?
explosions of happiness
The earth was nearly wiped clean of life. A great cleansing, an atomic spark struck by human hands, quickly raged out of control. Spears of nuclear fire rained from the skies. Continents were swallowed in flames and fell beneath the boiling oceans. Humanity was almost extinguished, their spirits becoming part of the background radiation that blanketed the earth.

Why do your leaders move? I can only hear them talk while a picture of them is shown.

i don't know about Empire Earth, but the Civ games are completely different to Age of Empires. The main difference is that CIv is turn-based rather than real-time - if u dont know what that means, look it up
depends on what u like doing. If u like seeing thousands of armies fight eachother then Stay in Total War, If u like the more building aspect, culture, diplomacy, and shaping your empire to what u see fit then go to Civ 5... Both games are good and addicting, I personally play both of them, but if u are to choose one of them then u got to ask yourself, what do u want to do in the game, that will be your deciding factor. In closing, is it fun, yes. More fun then total war? Depends on you!!
Even in games the temptation to use that much firepower is too great, i hope for humankind that this doesn't happen in real life
War must be terrible, less we become too fond of it...
