Nothing beats being a teenager in the late 90s to early 00s :)
NR Productions facts
American pie, punk rock, mtv, phones and internet were a new thing... Aaah I miss those days...
Yeah times were easier and awesome just being rebellious
uhm.. yeah its hella good song, and other Sum 41's songs.. but NIRVANA
I was a few years younger than a teenager in the early 2000's and I always wish I was born just a few years earlier. I'm like two years away from being the youngest millennial and being born in 85-88 would have been perfect 😭😭😭
They are calling it a day after 27 years. This was probably my most listened track by them. Rip the sums
wait really? they were on a tour not long ago
I'm seeing them in Salt Lake City next week
Lol they just made a song a week ago doubt it 🤣
@@GazMentonthought the same thing when i heard it
They are playing a festival in Las Vegas next weekend
I would do anything to go back to these days tbh
+DragonGames why not
no you wouldn't alejandro, and even if you did, you'd realize those days weren't nearly as good as your nostalgic, rose-tinted memories say they were
Me too, I was young, no responsabilities, just listening to sum and LP in my bed
You can still go back it’s never too late
Build a time machine
i watched this for the first time in 16 years and tears came to my eyes. My sum 41 era was when I was in middle school, I was in a band (we played sum 41, green day, and blink 182 songs). we skated, did all the shit in this video, occasionally tried to talk to girls, mountain biked off ramps in the street. snowboarded. played paintball. school was easy, didn't have to think about college, didn't have to think about jobs or houses or rent or health insurance or life. We were just living in the moment. These years were my heaven. The best days of my life.
I was about to call bs and then I remembered that’s it’s 2020.... like we getting old
Take me home to the early 00's. Jackass was on TV, southpark was derisive, bush was a war criminal, chapelle defined comedy, blink 182 reigned supreme and sum 41 was the underclass hero.
Being a stupid teenager is still just as fun but for some reason a lot of my generation thinks it's deeper than it is so there's not as many of us riding bikes through the roads but it's ok cause we're loud enough for 5 people. Most we've had is 3, which is a pretty good number because then we can agree on what to do. And there's more weed for us, duh. Plus it's impossible to fit more than 4 in my friend's room. But yeah, I'm still not sure why the rest of the school would rather be into drama but I guess there's always the popular kids. I just wish school was easy like it was before corona.
I'm 15 in 2020 right now, and I literally do all of these things except skateboarding(I'm more of an MTB guy). It's amazing.
Wow... Im only 12 but this really hit me different
This song makes me want to wear baggy jeans and go skateboarding...
James Heesterman ah the jino jeans
Just did
Love OUT COLD!!
Very 2000 starter pack in this vid
Those were the ironically the worse kind of pants you could wear when skating.
R.I.P Dmx he’s riding that ATV in god’s house now🥲
Umm, where was he, cause I didn't see him?
@@MiamiBlossom he’s in the other music video when they have the house party
Didnt see him
Comment this on the other video dude
😂😂😂
Can we just take a moment to realise that that Sum 41 sent this tape to Island Records and got signed. This is why i love these guys.

Loved that game. When they played this last year in sweden, all i could think of. "Dave mirra freestyle"
Here after they announced the news about disbanding. Thank you for all the good music and memories.
It's sad, but Deryck and the guys are all 40 now (my age). All us Elder Millennials as grown up with kids probably as old (or older) than we were then. That world, those days, and our bodies and lives we had back then are gone. So is that energy we had - Deryck himself said as much. It's hard to play songs about pay phones and celebrities who are no longer relevant, when neither exists now. It's hard to be angry at mom and dad and crappy jobs when your middle-aged and a millionaire.
Like those days skateboarding, the middle-of-nowhere pop-up concerts in fields before anyone had a cellphone... that world is gone, and sadly our youth fleeted away with it. I know Sum 41 as a band is disbanding because there is nothing more to say, and nothing more to do. I will miss them dearly and miss that era (my friends, family, coworkers, dumb problems and slightly simpler times) - but you can't go back.
I'm just glad this ended on a High note, and it wasn't because the band hated each other or the music got bad.... it was just time for us to all grown up... or more specifically - to realize that we already grew up along time ago. Lets just never forget that world, those times, or what happened back then. That was OUR youth, OUR generations anthems, and OUR moment in the sun as the "young people"... the "new generation"... the kids who were gonna change the world. 😥😞
Spiky hair, goofing around in shopping carts on empty parking lots, fast riffs, sad lyrics... those were the early 2000 day!
The late 90s and early 2000s had the best music.
agree
Nothing’s better than Mid-‘90s to Early 2000’s music...I just can’t explain it...
@@mid-s_to_earlysViBEZ agree specally rock and nu metal was the best in my opinion
STR 2004 Yes...Hard Rock and Nü-Metal were the $#!%...and IMO, still are...

how I miss the old sum 41.

why everyone say that ? they changed ?
they have
damn, you're right...
Inzektor well after underclass hero they just went edgy and shit but with the order in decline album it makes them feel like punk again
That late 90’s / early 00’s sound. So much nostalgia
I remember this playing in a DBZ movie.
Was a fan of Sum 41 before hearing this song on a DBZ movie.
But I was so hyped and happy to hear this song on it!
which one?
@@alan62036 this song!
At the end of “ Bardock father of Goku “ movie. And at the end when grandpa Gohan holds baby goku. And “ makes no difference “ is the song when the credits roll
Blink 182 came back. Sum41 will come back. 2024 and still love this song genre. 🔥❤️
C’est incroyable tu écoute pareil que moi sum 41 et blink 182 sont mes préférés
Sorry bud but its over.
Nah, Deryck has said it's time to end it.
They are not breaking up because they are mad at each other - they are doing it because the world their songs are about is long gone, they are no longer the broke disgruntled kids they used to be, who were angry at their parents and fighting against conformity and the bush-era excesses. They grew up. And as sad as that is, so did we along time ago. Deryck has said that the spirit and energy he had that created that band and fed it has been replaced by his wisdom of middle-age and the calmness of a loving relationship and parenthood.
It's hard to play songs about payphones and irrelevant celebrities when neither exists anymore. And it's hard to write songs about crappy first jobs, annoying parents, and not conforming when your a happy middle-aged, married, multi-millionaire parent. I don't think he's done forever with music, but he definitely is with that part of his life. He's hanging it up because he doesn't want to be a poser, and after this last album there is nothing left to give of whatever remaining youthful energy and p*ss and vinegar he had in reserves from his prior life.
Blink 182 came back because those guys are in a different headspace (and Tom needed the money). Also remember that while Sum 41 was cranking out new albums for years on end - Blink had been separated for a decade while Tom was chasing Aliens, Mark was doing greatest hits, and Travis was doing side projects and Reality TV. The guys in Sum 41 by comparison never stopped making new music... and that naturally started to slowly burn them out, giving everything they had left of their souls year after year.
None of this means we can't remember those times fondly or keep the torch alive in our own ways.... but those energetic boys in this video, they are now middle-aged men who are completely different beasts. For the fans and themselves... it's time to grow up and chase what their soul is reaching out for them to chase now. It was a hell of a ride while it lasted - but all good things come to a end. 🤟🤙
what the hell ever happened to the good punk rock music of the 90's and early 2000's
still there, just not mainstream
Linus Hedenström got any suggestions?
My chemical Romance!
My Chemical Romance is not punk
Its awesome and that is all it needs to be!
35 over here and reminiscing back to this time period, man what a time to be 12 years old in 2000
This is probably my all time favorite music video, just cause this is how I would want my life to be as a teenager. Just you and your friends having all the fun in the world, not giving a damn about anything and not worrying about getting into trouble. Reality is often dissapointing
Same as you. This is one of the best video EVER
My life was like this we would through eggs out cars and ppl would chase us etc fun stuff
Damn, sometimes I just sit back and wonder how life was back then in the 2000s. I just wish I was a part of it
I'm inclined to disagree but it was pretty sweet haha
Anonymous Person Was it more fun?
Tomato Potato 2000s, as in 2003, 2002, 2004 etc is 2000s. Currently, we are living in the 2010s, and it fucking sucks.
People used to be scare about electronics and its date, they where always waiting for them to ezplode because of the transition to the next millenium.
People went out and talked to each other. We did alot of texting and social media was reserved for computers. People weren't offended over stupid shit like they r today.
RIP TO THE LEGEND DMX!🖤
Sum 41, Blink 182, Green Day, just the best band ever !!!

Still a masterpiece after all these years
I'm not sure if this song was written before or after "What's My Age Again?" came out (I know it was RELEASED the year after, but idk when it was first written) but does anyone else kinda feel like this works as a response song?
"WMAA" is a pop punk song saying "I don't want to grow up!"
This is a pop punk song that says "No, seriously, grow up."
Lyrics:
You're running fast and missing
But can not help convincing
The reasons you gave me are all wearing thin
It's not meant to hurt you
But let me assure you
It's not what I said
But intentions you've read
So when you hold on to
The past then you
Will break down what little is left
And yeah there's nothing more
You can't ignore and say it makes no difference to me
Now that you're older life's weighing on your shoulders
Can't seem to keep things so perfectly straight
With most things so basic you might as well face it
You can't help but worry it's all just begun
It make's no difference to me
It make's no difference to me
It make's no difference to me
It make's no difference
So when you hold on to
The past then you
Will break down what little is left
And yeah there's nothing more
You can't ignore and say it makes no difference to me
It make's no difference to me
It make's no difference
It make's no difference to me
It make's no difference
It make's no difference to me
when life was simple
Life was never simple.
Still is, depends on how you look at it and what you do with it
@@williamthebritoriginal believe me it was, at least in my country you could take a job whenever you wanted, decide how much you wanted to earn, drive old diesel cars, talk to girl without being sued, climate change was stoppable, it used to snow (I havent seen snow in 6 or 7 years), we werent so monitored by google, you didnt depend on your telephone, everybody was kinder, metal music was a trend, trap didnt exist, right wing political parties were ruling the country, you didnt have to quarantine, being a civil servant was easy (now you have to compete against 50k people for 200 vacancies), men didnt wear tight jeans, summer was longer, you could live on your own without your parents, food was healthier... I wish my friends would want to do stuff like this when we "hang out". All we ever do is play xbox :/
Look on the bright side; you guys are at least doing something together.
Maybe try going on adventures? Me and my friend(s) (usually just friend but sometimes theres a 3rd person) only found our hangout spots because we ride our bikes to each other's houses (we only live like half a mile apart so it takes like 5 minutes because hills) and one day we were like "let's go on an adventure!" And then we found our bridge. I found a double wide camping cot in perfect condition and we dragged it down there so we even have luxury seating. Its kinda annoying to set up and fold up though. Anyways. Try adventures. Oh, and we're planning on building a treehouse but it's kind of snowing at the moment so that's a no go for now.
@@Sage-qd6tf I would honestly love to go on an adventure like that, but whenever I even try to purpose an idea like going outside, I just get the stink eye. I’ve tried to make them stop playing xbox, but the one time I actually got them to go outside with me they all thought it was stupid and we ended up just going back inside. Thanks anyway though!
@@User_Name26 ack that sounds boring. Maybe you could go on a solo adventure some time? I usually just ride my bike around the "block" which is like 2 miles but there's a creek that runs right through it so there's 2 bridges. One of them I started going to by myself and then eventually brought my friend and the other one is the one that me and my friend take the kids who wanna hang out there to be trendy instead of just having fun. That's one is affectionately called the shitty bridge. But yeah, you can find snazzy hangout spots anywhere. My friend who lives in town found a cool ass bridge that goes under the train tracks. It's kind of a walk, but really worth it. I think he found it by himself too. Good luck!
Start the trend bro

Saw them play this live at The NorVa theater on their farewell tour, it was off the chain.
Sum 41 is so much different than other new rock bands... Their songs aren't just punk/pop-punk. They have so many different genres in their music. Amazing band. Ad they listen to good music by themselves. Not my favorite band, but definitely one of the best newer bands.
Yes!!!
But they're not really new now, they became a thing in 96.
Dave mirra made me love this band...

Canada gave the world the best pure modern punk band, they nailed the sound and style and progressed into one of the best Rock bands in the world. This shit will live on forever 🤟
This song makes a lot more sense to me at 33 than it did at 13.
It's easy to say you don't care about anything when you're a kid or a young adult. After a certain age, it's irresponsible.
It's nice to have a familiar song that explains that to me in a way I understand while I'm going through this time of my life. :)
If "cool kids" was a band:
“Let’s go to the gym and play basketball.”

And one day for most of us we learn that the family we rebelled against are the only one that will always be there...for those that are lucky enough to have family.
