This is coming up as Robert but I’m actually Jan 🤷🏼♀️. Today I watched 4 of your videos and am impressed and delighted with your easy to follow explanations, directions, and clear photography.. I had viewed a few others re braid quilts but yours was outstanding!! Looking forward to seeing more as I jumped on the subscription button. Thanks a million.
Hi Jan, thanks so much for your lovely and kind feedback. It means the world to me. Welcome! I’m so glad you have subscribed 🤗
Thanks so much your explanations for every stage is so clear
My grown up children have dogs and I have lots of odd material so I can now make them a granddog quilt instead of expensive ones and a picnic quilt for grandchildren I already make Compassion quilts with out group thanks so much x
9n.
Hello, so there is no matting/filler in the quilt just a simple material on the other side?
. P
I have been sewing since I was 9. Soon be 77 yrs. Sewing for joy and to assist those in need is good for you. Keep your head working w measuring, planning, sorting thru my stash..Yes. I have a fair size one even now. My kids and grandkids all have quilts and knitted items. Young people today do not have hobbies that will result in something done while anxious, waiting thru a difficult pregnancy, illness, etc. If we can do something with our hands we look back at accomplishments, not lost time and depression. Lessons from a long life with its share of upset and downs. Have a nice day!
Hi Margaret, thanks for leaving such a lovely comment! You are so right. It is wonderful having a hobby to keep us busy and stop our minds wondering. 🤗
Please don't assume that "young people today" are hobby-less, or don't have hobbies that make things. It's extremely dismissive of several generations of people you don't even know. One should NEVER paint people with such a broad brush.
I currently know multiple generations of hobbyists that do many kinds of things! Like woodworking, multiple kinds of crochet and knitting, sewing, painting (large and small, canvas to vehicles to murals), jewelry making, gardening, jelly & jam making, canning, and soapmaking. Some of my friends do multiple things on this list, as do I.
I know some that are even learning NEW hobbies; as am I, in fact. These friends I refer to above range everywhere from 15 to 62, as well. Im pretty sure every generation of those "young people today" of which you complain are covered in that group.
It's quite rude to assume that just because YOU don't know any "young people today" that can make something, they don't exist. That kind of attitude gives anyone over 60 a bad name.
I can assure you that they absolutely do exist. In fact, many of them have CZcams channels (and other social media) sharing what they make, and how to make them! Perhaps seek them out and see that youve misjudged entire generations of people.
@@MaryAnnNytowlI am hard-pressed to think of a YT comment I agree with more than yours.
Hi! I’m 22, I used to work a lot when I first had my daughter. Recently I’ve been able to stay at home and enjoy my little one, I have started a small business in making chunky yarn blankets by hand! I definitely am obsessed with crafts I just never had the time as I do now. I think it’s beautiful to pass down to my daughter and looking into quilting now as well. She’ll always have something made from me🥹
I have used this method a lot for table runners, wall hangings and small quilts.
Wowwwwwww. I never thought to just sew strips and then cut them to make squares!!! I have been working WAY TOO HARD! You are awesome!
I always say, 'work smarter, not harder!' but I'm so glad you learned from this video! Your support means so much!
THANK YOU , THANK YOU , THANK YOU !!! FOR HAVING YOUR SHIT TOGETHER !!! and not making us sit through a bunch of bullshit waiting for an actual detail , i just watched so many videos that start off with they don't know where their supplies even are ffs , ugh . just frustrating to watch that shit . love the straight to it , smart women who get to the point . Thank you !! xo
Love it! Your comment made me laugh. So glad you like my non fluffy style 🤗
Cindy! Right on! They will drive you crazy!!!
@@staceyleecreative Your style is so appreciated!
In theory I knew you could make a quilt without binding. Thank you for showing us how to do it.
Awesome - I’m glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching my video 🤗
@@staceyleecreative Thank you for making such a great tutorial.
I am actually Carolyn not Edward. This is just what I need. I am making lap quilts for our nursing home residents and I think this will be quick and lovely. Thank you for sewing for foster children. I am 81 but when I was a bit younger, I was a foster parent and it is so rewarding. I am still in touch with many of my girls as they send me pictures of their families and I am so proud to feel that I was able to make a difference in their lives. Thank you for the tutorials, I love quilting and have made a baby quilt for each of my new grand-babies.
That’s wonderful Carolyn! I’m glad you liked my video 🤗
❤❤❤77yrs of age and about to start making my first patchwork quilt. At last, after watching numerous turorials you're the first to mention a stitch size I can relate to, instead of others who mention a measurent of stitch size instead of the options on my machine. Thankyou.💞
That is awesome Sandra! I’m glad you found it helpful. I have a free five week learn to quilt course you might like: www.stacey-lee.com/2020/12/21/quilt-club-with-stacey-lee/
Thank you. I am 84 years old & I sew lap throws & donate, also. This tutorial is what I’ve searched for………happy day
Yay, so happy you found my video helpful! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it 🤗
I am a very new beginner quilter, and this video made me feel as though I could finish a quilt easily. I like the inside out method very much.
I am happy to hear that! Yes this is a great quilt for beginners. You might like to check out my. free beginners quilting course www.stacey-lee.com/2020/12/21/quilt-club-with-stacey-lee/
I also am fairly new to quilting. I have made the easy rag quilt for a baby shower gift and there is really no messing up on that one. Also just made a 9 large rectangular block lap quilt. No binding, I have not conquered that yet, and it turned out ok. I rushed thru it and didn't get all straight or should I say even. The material I had to work with was very stretchy. Any tips on how to work with stretchy material so I don't mess up on the lining up the blocks? TIA for the replies.
I'm working on my first quilt and it's also for a donation! I belong to a Craft group at a local church where we make things to sell around Christmas time to raise money for Missions. So glad I found this video!
That’s awesome. I have lots ideas for donation quilts ❤️
This is soooooo cool! Normally I do crocheting but I got a new sewing machine for my birthday. My daughter made her boyfriend a quilt and she inspired me to do one! I love this idea!
Congratulations on the new sewing machine! You are going to to live quilting 🤩

That’s so cool 😎

Addin a pillowcase would be another great addition to the quilt for your charity. Thanks for sharing this video, Stacey, very helpful for beginners!
Thanks so much! Unfortunately Comfort Cases only accepts things on their list as they can only fit so much in their backpacks. But it would have been a nice idea. 🤗❤️
Thank you Stacy of all the video I watched, your video makes a lot of sense. SIMPLE!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thank You, I have never seen a inside out quilt. That seems so much easier than putting on binding. Thanks for sharing your video with all of us,
Hi Artie, yes much easier. I have another video that shows how to make self binding which uses the backing as the binding. That is also a nice quick alternative 🤗
Love the idea of continuing the seam all the way around after closing the quilt! It seems so much neater!
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment 😊
Yes it's lovley x😊

Thanks so much Karen 🤗 I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment,it’s much appreciated ❤️
Karen that sounds like it's gonna be unique. I would love to see the finished quilt.
I’ve been searching for some time now looking for a tutorial on making a quilt and you are the only in my search that actually teaches & gets right to it. So many you tubers waste peoples time with talking and talking and talking and it has nothing to do with teaching.. a big thank you. The only thing I wish you had was “ Buy me a coffee” because I would definitely donate to you”
Well said! The chatting is so distracting!
Aww thanks so much! I’m glad you like my no fuss style ❤️
Great for donating and pretty, warm, and comforting at the same time. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for taking the time to comment! Hoping to see a few of these in my quilt donation drive!
This looks like a fun one! Can't wait to do this. Thank You Stacey for all of your helpful videos.
Thanks so much Vicki! 😊
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I finally finished my daughter's quilt I started almost 2 years ago. It's my first one, and I was so intimidated by the idea of batting and making the sandwich. This was so much easier and turned out beautiful. I can't wait to surprise her with it!!
That’s awesome, I’m glad it helped 🤗

Same here, I am finally jumping in with both feet. I have been too intimidated but Stacy make this look easy and FUN. Thank you. 🥰😍
I'm that same way, too intimidated to complete my quilt but this has given me courage. I love Stacey's video.
Thank you for this tutorial, I love the way it is done! More importantly, thank you for sharing this donation drive for children in foster care! My husband and I did foster care for 15 years. When the children arrived at our door (most often) they came with only the clothes they were wearing. This is an absolutely wonderful thing to do for a child who’s life has been completely turned upside down! Thank you!!❤
It's so sad that it does happen. Thankfully when my foster kiddo arrived, he came with a bunch of stuff.
Thanks so much Dena. I am planning my donation quilt drive again this year, and every year I hope to get more and more quilts for children in foster care. You can find out more here: www.stacey-lee.com/2023/01/14/2023-quilt-donation-drive/
Thank you, Stacey!
You are so welcome Louise! 😊
Thank you for such a detailed video. I had seen a pillowcase backed quilt video two years ago but couldn't find it this morning. Glad to find yours. I'm a new quilter and just want to make a lot of baby quilts for donation for piecing practice. This backing/binding technique is super helpful.

Hi Marylou, welcome! I’m so glad you like the quilt, I have four that are designed especially to donate. Thanks for leaving a comment 🤗
Wow, what a beautiful quilt. You make it look so easy Stacey. I guess it really can be as one builds their knowledge of short cuts. I thought I was going to cut all my squares like our first quilt. Thus is SO much easier . Than you for another great video!🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸
Yes Debbie this way is so much easier. Although you don't get much control of the layout of the squares and the first quilt we made was about getting comfortable cutting and sewing, Thank you so much for leaving a comment! 😊
Love how you make it easy to follow your teaching, thank you. Love the quilt.
Thanks so much Barbara 🤗
Just love this quilt. Beautiful colors too. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much Barbara 🤗 I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment 🙏
I like your colors. Peach is one of your faves, isn't it? The fleece backing must be so cozy.
Yes Louise, peach is my favourite color, then creams, pinks and mustards 😊
Nice pattern, thanks! One tip I do that i find helps closing the turning hole is to trim that area about 1/4 inch bigger, it gives you a little more to turn in. Clip the ends of that piece on the diagonal and your ends are a touch longer to tuck in as well. I've been quilting a number of decades, this little tip does help a lot for quilts/blankets that you aren't binding.
Thanks so much Cathy and that is a great tip :)
