    I have rode a couple of BS4 Himalayans (borrowed or rented) and Personally, i found the braking on BS6 more confidence inspiring. The brakes on BS4 might be sharper/tighter, but the braking kicks in vary late, just before your heart stops permanently :P With BS6, it's more controlled. Plus, the engine is definitely more refined.

    @Zigwheels
    The drop in braking performance is due to the extra 5 kgs in bump as the braking system on the Himalayan BS6 is exact same as that of the BS4.
    The brakes can get better after running a fair bit of kilometres. You can either bleed the brakes or even go for some better set of pads like Ceramic Pads from Vesrah or even the Metal Compounds from EBC can make a huge difference in the performance. That's an investment of 2000-2200(for both front and rear) rupees for the Vesrahs or 2800-3000(per pad) for the EBCs.
    And again the answer, BS6 Himalayan is the better product here. The refinement and the addition of those new features like the Switchable ABS makes it all the more a value for money proposition.
    And about the performance, the Exhaust from Indimotard (Greasehouse Grunt V4) can make up and even more for the performance with an addition of 3-4 bhp along with a weight reduction of 3kgs comparing the older exhaust.
    A replacement air filter from K&N or BMC along with a full LiquiMoly service can make your Himalayan a great machine.

    After riding the Himalayan both on plains and mountains, I concluded that it's all marketing gimmicks and paid up reviews that has led to fool the viewers in buying this vehicle. The bike is nowhere near to what all reviews say about it.
    Instead of blindly buying any vehicle based on it's reviews, I urge everyone to take a test ride before making a decision. If the showroom is not offering you a test ride, then go get it from some friend.

    • @Dip_Physics
      @Dip_Physics Před 4 lety +3

      @pushkar Mishra aptly said. This is happening for most of the bikes these days. The reviewers will say the bike doesnt vibrate at all, the showroom wont give you test rides and when one buys the bike, it just rattles everything to pieces.
      One should only and only buy a bike after riding it.

    I own a bs6 Himalayan. The rear braking is good as compared to my friends R15 V3 but the front brake feels soggy due to the long travel suspension. The bike takes time to stop into still but the brakes are capable of making it much slower to let you manoeuvre from the obstacles. As compared to the weight, braking is fine. And the money paid for it will worth! No worries..
