Nice work! Just found your uploads after watching alec steele, simple little life etc love the start to finish nature. Would love some commentary or even subtitles on materials, process, reasoning, particularly in relationship to coatings leather and the like. But I love the speeded up one stop shop for a project.

Great knife and some possibly redundant questions. 1. Heat Treating? 2. That sheath. Is it secure. Maybe Kydex if you did it again? 3. Is a knife like that legal to carry in California under your shirt?
I'm not the maker but I think the steel was already heat treated (it was written 59HRC on it before cutting)
The sheath seems tight enough so that it hold the knife great without anything else securing it

Same, was watching and I kept thinking I would want one if he would sell any
I make a lot of leather sheaths,,I’m thinking over time the leather notches inside will wear down and get lose. Kydex would have been the better choice. All in all it’s a very nice build.

That little knife is awesome. I do have 2 questions, though.
1. What was the purpose of the black/dark brown solution you put on the inside and edges (rough leather parts) of the sheath?
2. What was that little tool that looked like a piece of angle steel you were rubbing againt the knife after applying a solution to it?
Answer to number 1. I think it was a waterproofing solution so the blade doesn’t get wet while in the sheath
2) That's just an angle steel used as a sanding block. He applied polishing compound (the paste) and lubricant from a can to polish the knife up.

You could give that knife better finish (i mean more intentional rough one, or really polished - not my cup of tea), but overall awesome work on that one.

On the finger groves part of the sheath does puting the knife and taking it out of the sheath damage the nubs over a period of time?

When cutting the blank you could do one parallel cut the full length of the blade. Then cut perpendicular to the tip. The drop will be long enough to make a little carving blade or something.

Those "Punch knives" are called Katars (The more you know jingle thing)
Zach Attack ok, I wasn't talking the katar version, more like the push dagger/punch knife roman style version. I know what katar is.

I've seen a few of your videos already, you do some really nice work. I have a few questions though. What type steel are you using? The part where you used yellow paint as a mask, clever. What output were you using on your etcher to etch your design in the paint, the ac or the dc? Finally, how did you do the design on the front of the sheath?
