- Something in honor of the centennial of the birth of the legendary Max Roach.
Max is an eternal inspiration. A true innovator is so many ways...vocabulary, sound, tuning, phrasing and tonal ideas, sense of structure, even the use of the 4 piece kit with an 18 inch bass drum that become the standard for so many Jazz drummers.
Thank you, Maxwell Lemuel Roach!
Thanks for watching and please subscribe!
Absolutely phenomenal - from the solo to the super fast comping - brilliant tribute to Max Roach.
You are a star George!! 🥁🏴👍🏼
Thank you, as always
Beautiful playing, George. So important that this groundbreaking music continues to be passed down the generations.
I'm just amazed at your versatility. The sounds of your kits are always excellent. Listening to you play is as satisfying as eating a very fulfilling meal! It hits me at my core. Love it!
That's a great compliment, thank you!
George, your expression, explanation, and demonstration of drum skill is always top notch. After watching your videos I always step away with a new appreciation and understanding of percussion. Thanks for all you do, share, and develop! Thanks for the inspiration!
That's a very appreciated comment, thank you
Whoa!
Excellent George!!!
Thanks, Stuart
So, what's it like being Max Roach? Dammit George that was great!
Thank you!
Sir, you cooking crazy. 🔥
The best teachers entertain as George does in this exceptional tribute. It's very persuasive when a master at his level demonstrates the importance of American music history and the priceless value of keeping it alive. It would be a severe cultural loss for a drumming style as fine as this to be forgotten, not even 100 years old.
Thanks DAG, I'm trying!!
Max Roach! Love classic jazz and big band guys. So very good. I love the rock guys too... really, I love good music, from blugrass to Tool. If it's good, I'm into it. Amazing as always George. Thanks for the post.
Thanks, I agree!!
Amazing
Cool go cat go ✌
Max Roach is badass and so are you! Grat sounding kit!🔥🥁😎
It was applaudable of you to honor one of the finest musicians in the history of Jazz and sharing your personal history of meeting Mr. Roach. Your an excellent player/ teacher too. Btw.
I found this stunning gem of Max Roach playing a show in Belgium with his wife (at the time) singing. Wondering if your familiar with this noteworthy performance ? very intense !!!
Yes, that is great footage...amazing. Thanks very much
Left us so much and you play it So well! Excellent! Thanks also for the analysis, ❤
Hell yeah! 🔥🔥
Thank you G!
Masterful, George, as always. Thank you for your wonderful tribute to Max. Thank you as well for the great drum lesson. I have added your imperative to "Get these ideas in your head and in your heart" to my book of inspirational quotations.
Great playing as always ! Ever done a Philly Joe Jones analysis? That would be great! Thanks
I've done a couple on Instagram, and I may have posted one or two here as well. Check my videos. Thanks!
My favorite album with Max Roach on it is Sonny Rollins’ Saxophone Colossus. His trading with the Rollins and Flanagan on Moritat and Blue 7 is just mind boggling.
Another of my favs as well!
appreciate this. very interesting, thanks.
This clip a gem. I love your, 'Get the job done attitude' and your respect and admiration for Max Roach, a drummer I was encouraged to check out but didn't at that time.
I have that album in my collection and will make it my business to get acquainted with it. Many thanks.
Spot on tribute to master Max Roach!

Brilliant video, outstanding tribute to the legend of Max Roach, done in the best way possible, on the drums themselves, thanks for playing this great track and slowing down the fills to learn.

George Fludas!!!!!!! You sound great brother!!!!!!! As always.... COOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!!!
What heads top and bottom are you using for your toms George? I’m currently building out a jazz type kit now and I just love the tone you get with your toms
Trying to think of all the drummers I know who can be playing Moby Dick one day and a brilliant outstanding Max Roach solo the next day,I’ll have to get back to you on that one.
Thanks George!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sounds great George but you still sound like Bonham playing a Max Roach…just kidding! 👏🏻
HAHA!! Well, it's all mixed up in there.
Weak cymbal sound
