Edit - I didn’t want to target just placements but there's this fact that around more than 95% of students who are not privileged tend to opt for placements as their parents put everything they can into their child's studies as a result I was trying to generalize that for students like these , Every student has their own priorities while most of them have their placements as a basic necessity because they cannot afford to go for their Masters ,

BITS pilani and IIIT Hyderabad should definitely be included in the Top 15, these are as good as some of the old IITs in many aspects! And Jadavpur indeed deserves a good rank, because of the return of investment, as bhaiya mentioned

I am a PhD student from IIIT Hyderabad. I can tell you that research wise we are definitely in top 10, the no of papers published, no of research students placed, the positions held by IIIT students should also be taken into account.

Please don't think of me as your hater just consider me a critic. Definitely VIT is not the same as IIT Bombay/Madras/Delhi/Kanpur/....... But it definitely is not as bad as you tend to say every time. There is no denying that VIT is crowded, but that doesn't feel according to it's infrastructure. Another reason for being crowded is the number of programmes offered by the University, B.Sc., M.Sc, MBA, BBA, M.Tech., B.Tech, Management, Arts. I'm currently studying in VIT Vellore and I can definitely say that reality is far away from what it's shown on CZcams or the internet as large. Placements are very good in comparison to other private colleges. This year 2 students got a CTC of 1.02 Cr from motorQ. Amazon recruited 110 students, highest ever from any college. Microsoft, De Shaw, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Udaan, Goldman Sachs, App Dynamics, Texas Instruments, and many more, all of them came for on campus placements. The average package is around 8.19 LPA till now. And if I talk about CSE & IT in particular then the average package is around 11 LPA. The main issue on the internet is fees, but I don't understand why it is an issue. BITS & Manipal charges more fees than VIT but no outrage on that. All in all you can have your opinion but at times it seems like you have some grudge for VIT in particular.

Bro I am planning to join vellore cse next month and jo internet par average 8LPA hai woh sab b tech ki branches ka hai ya phir sirf cse core ka? If not then cse core ka average placement kya hai and if I maintain 9+ throughout all semesters kya mughe 18+ LPA mil skta hai.

He didn't touch even a single criteria of the 5 of NIRF & instead kept focussing on only grades & placements.
I also think in last two years, nirf ranking really lost credibility. It is based on building materials instead of cutoff, quality, placement and other important factors.
1. one thing students planning to take admission in colleges looking at NIRF ranking should understand that NIRF does ranking of colleges who invites them to do so. NIRF doesn't ranks colleges single handedly.
2. any graduated student can tell that easily that 20%-30% of their colleagues were not employable. which is why total no. of students placed matters much more that the placement percentage. because if u look at the majority of companies where freshers are place the Attrition rate and No. of employees leaving the company is much higher that the no. of people recruited which is why vacancies are created. which is why Graduation outcome is considered in ranking rather that Placement percentage.
3. If placement percentage be taken into consideration colleges like MIT, VIT, KIIT Sikhsa o Anushandhanan can easily match many IITs and even surpass many young IITs. hope people reading this gets this point.
4. Students need to understand this too that Colleges/Universities only on Btech/UG level, expenditure on research and higher studies is also taken in to consideration. in which universities like KIIT is at par with many IITs.
5. In short High school/UG students reading this or watching this video may not be aware of all the aspects of Ranking. A major part of Ranking revolves around only and only 'quality of education', 'entrepreneurship' like things. Placement is least of the concern of this ranking.
Now U can have doubt that can a Private university matches the "quality" of education of IITs and the answer is Yes. Education curriculum is centralised, and U can get always good Faculties in many deemed universities as well.
While what you have written makes SOME sense, most of it is quite ill-informed. In terms of quality of education, no private college with the exception of BITS, IIITH/B/D provide the same quality of education as the IITs(excluding the 2016 ones which are very young and hence comparison is unfair. Their faculty is good but they lack on the infrastructure. This is bound to change in a few years when they shift to their permanent campuses). While many private colleges might advertise about their research capabilities, the quality of publications and the faculty is not quite up there with the premier colleges. While many colleges have good facilities and they regularly produce very successful graduates(VIT and the like), saying that their facilities match up to the best is just plain wrong.
@@rachitverma9088 My point in my last comment is that one must not see the ranking as per UG level only. There are many other factors to which may not even concern UG students.
@@rachitverma9088 u need to understand this with open mind that, IITs and many other government colleges even combined doesn't have the capacity to educate all the students/scholars appearing every year. Also UG admissions such as JEE mains/advance is not completely at par with School education, so it's very hard for students not going to coaching to clear (some genius may clear it as exception). Govt understanding this has to come up with some level field to rank college who being private are helping greatly in education.
Hence there are such points in ranking criteria that helps Private colleges and Universities greatly.
Colleges like vit, kiit use Manganenment kota to fill seats in which low rank people or people with less percentage gets into colleges so u can't compare them with government colleges.

it is because the IITs established after 2008 have mostly the high paying branches like CS, EE, ME, CE, CHE, etc. while colleges like IITB and IITD have branches like metallurgy, biotech and textile which bring their median placement down

@@MM-rz5xu There are literally more than 5k students just in CSE in VIT. How is that college gonna make sure ALL of them get good placements? NIT on average has just 120-150 seats in it. I haven't even started to talk on ROI(return of investment) any average student from NIT can easily get 2x the ROI. When you get into Private unis its even difficult to get 1x the ROI. I have atleast 4-5 people in my relation who are in IITs/NITs.

State Government colleges can't submit all the data due to crunch in clerical staff...moreover parameters considered in NIRF are mostly taken from foreign universities (which have very good infra and placements in core sectors)...same parameters definitely can't be applied directly on Indian universities as Indian colleges mostly depends upon CS & IT jobs, for example even without quality teachings in classrooms students get good placements in CS & IT sectors but same doesn't happen in core sectors for which we need quality faculty, skilled technicians and world class infra plus more core companies.

VIT has an average placement of 9lpa for 4500 students. I think that is pretty commendable.
Number two,the IT firms like Wipro,IBM,accenture hire for their premium roles from VIT. For example in 2022 wipro hired only for their turbo role,accenture also hired only for their 10lpa role. IBM pays 8lpa.
Thirdly VIT has pretty good research opportunities at UG level also. Lot of people make it to top notch Colleges like CMU,Caltech for their masters.
Also the non tech placements in VIT is top notch. All the big consulting firms,investment banks hire in big numbers. I'm pretty sure most NITs and even the new generation IITs dont have the likes of Mckinsey,Goldman coming for non software roles. The number of non tech companies is kinda a big factor to decide how good a college is imo cz software companies visit all decent colleges nowadays.
Apart from placements,VIT has really good hostels and mess food is pretty good also, also the clubs in college are great. A lot of inter college case study competitions/hackathons happen regularly and these improve the overall grooming of an individual, this is something which a lot of govt colleges lack.
Are vit ko iits ke beech mein rkha hai nirf mein...ha baki pvt colleges se vit Vellore branch bohot acche hai....but iits se to comparable nehi hai na...pvt colleges mein vit sabse upar hi rahega(after bits iiitH lnmiit daiict and top pvt colleges who takes through jee only) . i had completed my 4th year from vit vellore ece in 2022 i knew how placements works these a lot of politics and scam in vit placement and about research lol they dont even know the basic they just give to do that. except cse it very few ece and very few eee people get placed dont even think about core branches they are not eligible for ex one of my friend from iit m with reservation in got into chemical and at last he got 14lpa in axis as bussiness analyst. but in vit except cs and it no one else is allowed .strength is to high nearly 8k per year .they pay to government for ranking

I started to doubt NIRF rankings 2-3 years ago because of a few questionable choices. Now, I have zero faith in it. QS and THE rankings give a better idea about colleges than NIRF. (Speaking from a pure science perspective, not engineering).

How much influence the educational institutions wield with the Babu's or the education ministry will decide the rankings. Even rankings within iits is questionable. For example IiT madras gets consistently a ranking in 250-260 slot of QS international ranking and IIT Bombay and Delhi consistently get slightly better ranks in the 150-170 slot. But IIT Madras manages to get the best rank every year on NIRF. This is probably what the ex director of IIT Delhi prof ramgopal was not happy about and was alluding to in his latest tweet. He specifically said that lower ranking institutes should get to review the data submitted for Ranking by the so called higher ranking institutes. He also said that those institutes which have minimal difference in the points being assessed for Ranking should all get the same ranking. Ironically the same man during his directorship was part of the group of directors who decided not to submit data to the international THE ranking agency as they thought that the THE ranking methodology was not transparent and the IITs should easily be within the top 100 bracket. All this says so much about NIRF ranking tamasha.

VIT vellore is not a bad college , It has 346 Ranking in QS world rankings 2023 for ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY ( SUBJECT RANKINGS) Ranked above Many IITs and all NITs because VIT DESERVES IT!! , and its average package is 9Lpa for the whole University ( Including Btech, BBA, BCA etc) Its average package for CSE BRANCH IN 2022 PLACEMENT IS 13.7 LPA. If it was not deserving, QS rankings would not Rank it.

Placements of MIT is very bad and it’s fees is so high. This makes it Not worth it. JIIT Noida has far far better placements than MIT, KIIT Bhubaneswar. And JIIT Noida Fees is very low in comparison with Manipal

Bhai asal ma nit trichy,suratkal,warangal,rourkela,allahbad,nagpur,jaipur,calicut,inka Baad ata hai dtu and nsit because if you will watch the student intake then most of the nits have intake of 600-700 students and dtu and nsit ma laghbag 2000 and 900 bache padhta haan ug program iski wagah sa wahan ka placement high Hein,one more reason is it's location while mostly nits are in a bit outskirt but still and most are in Delhi. Also hardly very few people in west, east and South India people know about it the craze is of North India side only because of not availability of good nits there, and also in NITS they have a tagline, which whole India know, and it has some craze outside India too, dtu and nsit are good colleges but they don't have a big tagline

That's a good video..he(brother) covered everything but what about those students who won't get IIT's and other top govt colleges due to less academics and mains score....will they need to drop the idea and yes I do agree placements are not as good in private universities but Is that true that placements depends on the colleges if it's not then we should thank to these universities at least they are giving chance to lots of students to fight back in graduation who did not score well in their mains and academics.

Good point , we are not saying that they are bad colleges , actually they are doing great job by providing admissions at low eligibility criteria the main thing is most of the university claim wrong stats , wrong student intake , they try to place highest package subconsciously in Students and their parents mind via marketing , There are lots of things which I can't say online , I know these things because Everyday I got email from these so called top universities and everyday they try to convince us for fake stats promotion which we dont do.

One of my friends pursuing Bpharm bagged 25lakhs base package..the industry know the quality of students BITS produce...real value of a brand is realised only in the long run...Only downside about BITS is the high fees but then they don't get any help from the government unlike IITs which still costs above 12-14 lakhs

As a former M.Tech student at Amrita I can say that for atleast it is compareable to Top 3 NITs and better than some NITs..in my batch the average package for mechanical engineering was around 9 lpa, at par with top NITs.. better than new IITs for mechanical (considering only core placements)
