The anime is nothing like the Opening. The actual show is about a bunch of "beings" who usually dress like barmen. Why? Their job is to decide where the souls of the dead go (Heaven or Hell) and the way they decide it is through games. The games themselves are usually grounded in what I or you are familiar with, but they also have some type of twist regarding the person being judged (their memories, their decisions in life, their feelings, etc. etc.).
Oh and the girl that you commented that was in a "weird sci-fi scene". Just like everyone else, she's another soul, that's why it feels odd in that scene. Can't say anything else without spoilers. Show's great 👍

In fact, it's a dark anime about existential musings on "who is worthy to judge?"
But this opening fits very well.

Mental torture at it's best. That "bar" is where people get judged by torture games if they're going to heaven or hell
Don't let this opening fool you. It's built for dissonance. It's to throw you off. The anime is HEAVY, man.

I see you missed dancing on someone's grave, them posing like Shiva, and someone using piano wire to manipulate mannequins. Nothing creepy at all.
Indeed it did for me when I watched this not knowing what to expect.
I did not learn this lesson when I was expecting a relaxed slice of life after watching Asobi Asobase's OP

Death Parade is one of the best examples in the anime industry of dissonance between the opening and the show. The only thing the anime shares in common with the opening is the characters and the location. Otherwise there is a complete 180 between them leaving you completely in the dark about what you're actually in for. And the anime is really good it hits dark serious tones while being a touching show about death and the human psyche.
The song is up beat but the visuals can be as disturbing as the show
I think the opening and ending are perfect. It sets you up to think one thing, then you find out what the anime is really about. Then you get the ending where it basically says “fooled you didn’t I?”
@@yozarian86 actually in the opening there are little details that shows that the anime is gonna be heavy in the end. But its so well hid that you dont notice as you are pribably singing or dancing the opening XD

Don’t let the awesome opening fool you. This is a very emotional anime centered around death and human emotions (that’s as vague as I can be). It’s also pretty short and I’d recommend it.

Death Parade is a trip. It's got some super dark episodes, and some uplifting episodes. Think of the bar as a purgatory where your soul goes after you die to determine if you go to hell or get the chance to be reincarnated. 10/10 show.

The thing about this anime is it started as part of a project that japan gave funds to studios to train new animators and they had to make an short 1 episode show to show what they learned and people loved the episode (Death Billards) they made this 1 season show afterwards.

Death Parade is definitely one of my favourite anime series. Not in the least cause of this opening. BRADIO, the band, is honestly so much fun and they have fantastic japanese disco/funky music I still listen to, years after watching the show. Just watch their official music video for Flyers and you'll get a good idea of what the band is like. It's... wild.
Ancient Magus Bride is my number one recommendation. The music and art is pure beauty. The anime itself is beauty and depression in equal measure and I love it. It's also getting a new season soon

You need to check out the Terror in Resonance Opening and Ending. It has a similar dark vibe to Dark Parade, but they are very different. Also Aimer did the ending so that might be something you like. ALSO, the last episode (episode 11) has an OST playing at the end which I really recommend. You can find it if you search Terror in Resonance Episode 11 Credits OST. It's a very haunting OST (like most of the OST's from the series).

Death Parade is an anime about a place that takes space between heaven and hell, multiple people get in the bar, where they play games and their souls being judged.
My top 10 list (as someone who's finished 666 anime titles:
1. Berserk - OP 1 (Inferno by 9mm Parabellum) - A 11/10 OP, everyone just MUST hear this, SFW version on Crunchyroll's channel, just 1 censored tits scene.
2. Dimension W - a godlike tier, the music, the dance, the character.
3. To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S - Op2 [Eternal Reality] - Another god tier anime. This anime has (non arguebly) one of the best villains and most well known tsundere. Every song is a diamond, and if you don't agree - you are wrong.
4. Angel Beats OP - This anime will make a war veteran cry like a little girl.
5. Terror in Resonance (Echo of the Terror) - OP1 "Trigger" - Criminally underrated anime, op song is a beauty, also it's the first anime where I've heard about music from Iceland.
6. DARLING in the FRANXX - Opening | KISS OF DEATH - Hands down, perfect OP. Do yourself a favor and listen to it.

The Death Parade Ending is something different man. It compliments the show perfectly and if i'm being honest, one of the best shows i have ever watched. Cried the shit out of myself.

You should definitely watch this anime. It's only 12 episodes, and a very emotional series.
Also the Made in Abyss openings are cool, but what you REALLY need to hear is it's OST. It's genuinely my favorite OST out of EVERYTHING I've ever heard, not just anime related. It's transcendent. If you don't want to just trust my word, you can just hear to one of the songs off camera.
The Songs: "Made in Abyss", "Underground River opening version", "Swings and Roundabouts", "Hanezeve Caradhina", "Tomorrow", "The Return of Made in Abyss", "Transcendance and Hanezeve".
are some of my personal favorites (Yes, I put a lot here, but they're all so good, I can't choose... so just pick a random one of these if you want to ), but they are pretty much all that level of quality, so if you're convinced by it, I'd love to see a video on them.
It'd be a crime if someone who appreciates music like you do never listened to these songs. The anime is also REALLY good. Very painful and hard to watch at times, but a masterclass in mystery and worldbuilding.

Speaking of dark genres, please check out Banana Fish. The openings and endings are by Survive said the Prophet, blue Encount and King Gnu. All 4 of them are real bangers, and the themes look that ones that you'd enjoy.

The band for this opening is called Bradio, I definitely recommend listening to some of their other music. Got to see them live once in Dallas and holy shit one of the best live experiences I've ever had.

Death Parade is... hard to put a genre on. It's a mix of Mystery, Drama, and Action. The action has some heavy emotional stakes and the themes of the show are very adult. It's short (1 season) because it doesn't need to be long. It's been in my top 5 since I first watched it and I can't recommend it enough.
BRADIO is my favorite japanese band in existence, they dont nearly get enough love so im glad you did this reaction!

Its hard to tell you anything without spoiling too much. But its pretty dark, and makes you really think about the consequences for your actions.. but i promise its very good (and dark). And like the other comments are saying.. don't let the happy vibes fool you ;P

Oh wow, I was just looking at the death parade opening to link to someone and came across this. Didn't realize I wasn't subbed, is why this channel hasn't shown up in a while lmao. That said, This song is so ironic to the context of the anime itself. And also the fact that it's a banger definitely made it even more memorable.

This is an amazing opening, but it hides how heavy and deep this anime can get.
I would also like to recommend the opening and ending to: "Ya Boy, Kongming! / Paripi Koumei" as well as it's OSTs "I'm Still Alive Today" by EIKO (96neko) and "Underworld" by Azalea (Lezel).
If you do react to: "Underworld" react to EIKO's version and then Azalea's version.
In EIKO's version, her voice is softer with softer instruments.
In Azalea's version, her voice is more aggressive and desperate with louder and deeper instruments.
And yes, it's deliberate in the anime if you do ever decide to watch it.

I'm so happy you reacted to this. I've been waiting for this one, so it made me happy to see. Even though the opening is fun the anime is pretty dark. I think the Parade in the title only relates to the opening. Lol The anime is short as well so it would be easy to get through. For another anime opening and ending video I recommend Blue Exorcist for sure.

This anime is really heavy and honestly I wouldnt recommend it to watch to someone who's going through stuffs but it has weirdly endearing characters and a good plot imo

Death Parade is an anime about people having to do a trial to determine if they go to heaven or hell, in form of a game played normally in a casino. It has it's heavy and depressing moments, but is absolutely worth a watch. (Please correct me if I'm wrong, watched it a long time ago)

Dude, you mentioned manga. These three are some of the most loved manga within the community. If you watch a couple of top 10, 20, 50, 100 manga recommendation videos -- for most people that make those videos, these three will most likeley be in the top 10 or top 5.

Noisy cell and bradio are two of my favorite Japanese rock bands of all time. Both bring so much emotion and were perfect choices for the opening and ending for this anime
So glad you reacted to this! Death Parade is one of my favorites. The opening is definitely misleading lol, but the show is really good. It has some really dark moments and deals with some heavy subjects, while also having some really heartfelt, uplifting moments as well. Definitely recommend watching it! It's only 12 episodes so it's not a big commitment.

As a suggestion for your series viewing. Considering anime comes in such a range of lengths maybe you could get suggestions based on series length.
Series that are 1 season
2 to 3 seasons
And 4± seasons
And then take a pick from each (based off fan submissions like you've planned) and then view them in oder from the short series to the long series. That way you get to see a variety of shows and the fans get to see your reactions to many things and not just 1 series a year basically.
Made in Abyss has an award-winning soundtrack that will blow you away! _Hanazeve Caradhina_ and _The First Layer_ are probably the most memorable songs of the first season, but every single track is worth reacting to. All in all, heavily recommend reacting to them and/or watching the anime. Don't let the cute innocent characters trick you though, this show gets *DARK.*
Oh, and the openings/endings are really good too, but they weren't made by the composer of the soundtrack so they don't hit like the OST does.
Flyers is one of the best songs I ever header for an anime opening. Such an awesome song, such an awesome vibe. And the original video is so much fun to watch 😁
I think you've already heard enough of the very deserved praises for this show.
What you haven't heard is that you *ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO* watch the official music video for Flyes from BRADIO, even if you don't react to it it's a must watch. It's not anime but super super fun to watch, you can tell they had a great time making it.
Also, while the opening doesn't actually represents the mood of the show, it really distinctly shows the character of everyone.
Oh god such a great anime for understand why you must love your life till the end, its very strange feeling when you gonna cry but smiling in the same moment.

Death Parade is a single season, self contained anime original that started because of a short call "Death Billiards" that got really popular. Since people really liked the concepts from that short it was made into a whole show around the same premise and themes. It's quite heavy and depressive since it deals a with the afterlife and uses twisted games to weight people's souls to determine if they go to heaven or hell. It's a great watch but be prepared with cute puppy videos and other forms of wholesome eye bleach to recover afterwards.
An absolute trip is watching the original music video for this opening

Longer animes (>60 episodes): Hunter x Hunter, My Hero Academia.
Anime movies: Your name, A Silent Voice.
I'd also highly recommend Chainsaw Man (manga or anime), although since the anime is pretty new still it's hard to quantify the length.
