Great video, loved the first solution. Tried the second with self amalgamating tape but the rain got in. Watering with the hose problem. A few extra thoughts. After soldering the outer screening, perhaps a wrap of aluminium foil to restore the screening, followed by a wider piece of shrink wrap from the other side, soid over then heated down. Then finish with pvc tape or self amalgamating tape. Took me years to find out about this tape which is colossally useful.
The break in the screening caught my attention too.

The Outer copper coating should be braided & Circumfluent the inner single strand signal transmission copper wire. as this braided coating helps to prevent any kind of magnetic interference or noise. it shouldn't be soldered like that.
Should you solder the two single strands together then braid it with the outer copper coating? Then close it all up?

Thanks for the video. First fix looks complicated. 2nd video looks doable, but I need to order the connectors and teeny screwdriver. I need to connect a white cable to a brown cable.
