Saudia A320-200 Doha to Riyadh Hop

SV offers daily flights between Riyadh and Doha utilizing the airlines' high capacity A320 aircraft an upgrade from the E170 from a few years ago.
These workhorses offer good seat pitch in economy but no PTV while the the overhead screens show no IFE which is not so surprising given the short 1 hour 10 minute flight. The service includes a hot meal which is more than what others offer on such a short regional flight albeit of standard quality. SV catering has sadly been very mediocre in comparison to itself from the 80's and 90's and is inconsistent with meals either being "acceptable" or "inedible".
Video includes some shots of the the new Hamad International Airport which is indeed worth a visit. A source of pride for Qatar and Qatar Airways.

hmasurg Why do modern airports need to be so "spectacular"..the space seems to be made more to impress than to be practical??..the old Doha airport was awful although adequate in the 1970s but all this artificial architecture???

As always another great upload. Loved the reflection of the sun light on the 'winglet'. Service seemed decent on this short haul flight. In a nut shell, you had no real complaints on this short hop?
No not really.. SV do offer a full meal on these small routes which I must say is more than even EK, AR and Ey would offer in economy, yet the quality leaves much to be desired although this buryani was not bad at all. The problem with SV serviceman catering is lack of consistency.

am1966ath Thank you for your kind words. I don't really know what they plan for the old airport. Although I have not heard or read anything about the subject, my personal feeling is that it will be fully developed as a military air base.
hmasurg Aha Good so it comes to use..its a huge space and as it has tarmac and runways why don t use it...I see on an site called "timetableimages" about old airlines timetables( a dying breed today) that Doha was served already in 1977 by the likes of Air France,MEA and Gulf air,Saudia and Pakistan/air India...and this was before the boom in Gulf air travel??
