I'd also add another con: the deck struggles against backrow heavy decks. Your negation is very much focused on monster effects, and while there are ways to play around and through backrow, it's generally a bit more difficult.
this list that he's personally playing doesn't seem that way? it has multiple ways to interact with the backrow. the enforcer popping backrow, so if this deck goes first they're popping 2-3 backrow before you would use them. so... I don't think backrow is just a straight up con... because negation in general isn't the sole focus of the deck. the deck sets up like 2-3 monster negates with around 2 pops for your turn. just my personal take on the matchup.

I’d easily say it’s reasonable to believe that after drawing 6 cards you could see a lightning storm, or you could see a harpies. I’ve been playing the deck since torn scales came out and have never struggled against a back row deck

Dzeeff's "why nobody plays" series tends to up you from casual to understanding how meta players think. From there watching people like Box Box's side deck/hand trap list series gives you a good idea of what cards are the chokepoints in any given deck. But overall just watching a bunch of matches/replays with the deck you like and practicing with it should get you far.
As far as finding replays of good players dbgrinder has a large amount of modern meta games to browse though playing lots is one of the best ways to improve
@@jamismiscreant7514 I always found playing control or watching control players works really well. The majority of their play revolves around understanding their opponent's deck better than the opponent. You also don't have as much to focus on as a control player. Altergeist/Guru/Amazement/Traptrix only really make their big plays/combo after they have crushed the opponent and want to clean up.
Not to spoil things but you may need to revisit these guys when brave token come lol unironically they are tier 1 in the ocg just b/c they can play them and enforcer at the same time... Awesome video as always best of luck in the subathon!
A Subathon also called a money printing machine, is a stream in which a streamer can get infinite money for streaming himself playing some games and sleeping.
The thing is, even vs decks that don't care about the extra deck you can still reliably set up multiple fog blades and pops. It might be worth to include some cards in the sideboard to get rid of the scythe combo in game 2-3
I’ve gone 3-1 at locals twice in a row with phantom knights. it’s really good but you need to make sure you don’t leave yourself stranded without getting the correct names on field and grave at the right times.
Been wondering why I haven't seen PK. It's been a tier 2 deck ever since Bardiche came back but like, nobody played it. The Xyz focused version set up like 4 negates and otked without breaking a sweat but I guess people don't like scooping to nibiru.
@@eleonarcrimson858 Certain trap variants were pretty good that format. Torriential fog blade was good enough to beat VW going second and you won a lot of games from consistency over it. D-Link was more of a coin flip. Eldlich and other trap decks were the bad match ups in Calamities format, monster negates didn't do much.
overall pk cant do much against spell and trap removal for the fog blades and alot of the cards are graveyard dependant in terms of counters too it but overall the extenders in hand make the plays still go off
Doesn't this deck become even better once the Brave Token stuff comes out and you can just, set-up anti-Nibiru stuff with Phantom Gryphon? I seem to remember that being a thing in the OCG but I can't remember when we get those cards

Just think about it: you are playing a 9 cards engine (that gets stopped completly with a single hand trap) with 4 bricks (in a quite bricky deck), having to discard a card, and having to decide to either: remove all the hand traps (and die going second), or remove 95% of the extenders/starters just for a wacky omni negate and maybe a bounce. Just play crossout and called by. Heck, if you decide to play the Brave Token engine, you can't play crossout lol
Question: if I forbidden chalice/impermanence Artifact Scythe, do I negate the anti special summon portion of its effect? And, is that part of its effect lingering? Does it stay active if scythe leaves the field but wasn't negated?
Scythe's effect is a trigger effect, which means it has to actually resolve for it to happen. If you imperm or chalice it on activation, it negates it, and you're able to summon from the ED no problem. Also yes, its effect is lingering. Even if you get rid of Scythe after its effect activate, you still wouldn't be able to special summon from the ED.
Yeah pk has always been around the meta, but this really feels like their time. I don't think the poor Flunder matchup is that big of a deal, one hand trap (2 at most) punishes them harder than basically any other deck.
