    Just got these for my Emonda sl5. The bike has been transformed into something else, truly amazing.

    This is actually a nice quality wheelset 47mm is all you need. Only if I can afford it :(

    Carbon rims are a lot safer in the wet than ppl give credit. Number one is upgraded pads, then meticulous maintenance cleaning the pads. I sand them down a few times per month to remove contaminants & resin build-up. I ride all year round & have no trouble braking in the wet or snow.

      I think it also helps that modern wheels are so much better than early carbon wheels for braking. Early wheels did have serious concerns stopping in the wet but most quality manufacturers have come up with serviceable solutions for wet weather braking. This brake track from Bontrager sure is one of the best.

      You explained why people don’t like carbon rim breaks in your comment... meticulous maintenance. The average cyclist will hardly do basic maintenance, let alone meticulous maintenance

    Hi, i actually have a question on their hub, when i was doing the maintenance of the xxx4 wheelsets, i noticed that mine uses 18-tooth Ratchet system rather than the standard 36-tooth on xxx4, what's the problem here?

    How do they handle in crosswinds? I would have liked a sound test.

      Sounds like just about any DT240 with the 36t rachet.

    Great review. You should have more viewers and subscribers. In lieu of going tubeless, if I use tubes, am I still required to use tubeless rim tape or does it come with std rim tapes? And, it would be nice if you can answer this question as well. Aeolus XXX 2, 4, or 6... which would u choose?

      @@JogBird Thanks a lot. Really appreciate the quick response. My niece was contemplating upgrading to the XXX wheels. Now I can convey the answer. Thx again.

    What's your opinion on these wheels using 25mm tires vs 28mm tires? Trek indicates these wheels have been tested and "optimized" for 25mm tires.

    • @Jamesthebikeguy
      @Jamesthebikeguy  Před 4 lety

      My opinion is to run the tire that suits your riding style. If you want 28c go for it!

      How do you like your wheels?

    • @JogBird
      @JogBird Před 5 lety +1

      @@Jamesthebikeguy of course they are light, spin up fast, etc.. but what surprised was how comfortable they are for longer distances, even w 25mm on them, the rear hub sound is a bit too loud for me and gets annoying (its a dtswiss 240 32t ratchet)

    • @Jamesthebikeguy
      @Jamesthebikeguy  Před 5 lety

      DT-Swiss sells "Star rachet grease" that you can pack more into the hub and quiet it down.
