I love the Spanish at least first half of XVII th century, the zenith of cultural and military power, although by dificulties in economy and political inestabillity were unable to mantain its hegemony but by far a country to be recogniced with by the second half of the main. All portraits look amazing, It would have been great to see the Count Duke of Olivares or Prince Baltasar Carlos and Juan Jose de Austria, great job!!

One comment about the Habsburg jaw… many of them were afflicted with mandibular prognathism, also known as an “underbite”. When they smiled, a large gap would have been seen between the small maxilla and extended mandible, lower teeth protruding far beyond their upper teeth when they smiled. Some of them even had two rows of teeth in their lower jaws. Phillip IV had an extreme “Habsburg jaw” and his son Charles’ jaw so severe that he couldn’t close his lips together.

Would you please do the most famous Renaissance Artists...
    ▪︎Raphael
    ▪︎Michelangelo
    ▪︎Leonardo da Vinci
There was a lot of rivalry and animosity between the three masters, albeit much admiration and respect for each others brilliance. Above all Michelangelo was angry and bitter about Raphael and da Vinci.
Very interesting topic. Would be great if you did them.
I still visit your excellent portraits of Simonetta Vespucci and Sandro Botticelli, every now and then. Very good!

I always enjoy your videos on the Habsburgs, one reason why they’re an interesting family to study is the inbreeding, you can really see the significance of its impacts here, especially in Charles II. Also, love the voiceovers!

The Spanish clung to the farthingale skirt long after other countries no longer wore it. This was the most extreme form of the farthingale and ladies wore fantastic wigs to echo the volume of the skirt.

Because of Carlos II's protruding tongue, members of the Spanish court began to speak as if they had speech problems to flatter him, which allowed the emergence of "ceceos" in the phonology of Spanish Castilian, where the "zs", before "a", "o" and "u", and the "cs", before "e" and "i", are pronounced as linguodental phonemes. This feature does not exist in the Castilian spoken in Hispanic America.
