Oddly enough I just saw this as an ad and looked it up. I have been a gibson guy for almost 20 years now, but this as a series.... fender could own this and would be awesome for the younger audience. all new names, tons of talent. I hope you do a jag vs stang, tele vs Strat, Strat vs jag, and so on. really brilliant idea.

All it takes for the acoustasonic to get its price lowered is to replace the active electronics with passives. A electric pickup at the bridge (it can be a single coil or a humbucker that can be split) and a accoustic pickup (sorry, im not an accoustic expert. All i know is that some accoustics have passive stuff in them that allows them to be plugged into an amp, and the sound that comes out is just the bare tone of the actual instrument with no eqing or whatever).
The 5-way blade switch will be swapped in favor of a 3-way, which will switch between the electric, accoustic, or both. The volume knob will obviously never go away, and the blend knob will be replaced by a more traditional tone knob that only affects the electric pickup. If the pickup is a humbucker, the tone knob can also have a push-pull funtion to split the coils.
I hope you like my idea for a simpler/cheaper accoustasonic.
Just work more hours and save up.
