Man, that wreck around 16:20 was serious. Demolished the front end and still the throttle was pinned to the point it was doing a burnout all the way back across the track towards that family. Glad that guy got his lady and kids out the way! A great vantage point may not always be the best place to bring your loved ones. Glad that (from the way it looked) everyone was ok.

Granted it is a pro-mod and it was on a prepped track on 10.5" slicks. Never the less, they set a world record for that tire class. Hats off to that team 👍

Seth Blizzowen one is on non prepped pavement with street tires and the other makes a few thousand horsepower on just a tube chassis with molded body on top. massive drag racing tires on an extremely sticky surface. When you think about it it’s not really that impressive. It’s called a promod for a reason

as a kid watching drag cars wreck was cool, now i cry and wanna give them a hug, those poor cars.
What a great dude Yeti Jimmy is. Such a awesome attitude and unbelievably approachable. Although when my drift car is doing what it's supposed to do I'm in a super good mood too. No more straight stuff for me. Drove my first purpose built drift bmw with a LS swap and sold my falcon to buy a 2003 328ci. Just have a turbo and a m54 swap for now. I got the car cheap because the lady that owned it drove over something on the freeway and smashed the oil pan, kept driving and seized the engine. So I bought a m54 off Ebay (my daily is a turbo 2003 530i I LOVE the m54) and built it. I've never had this much fun in a car. Chasing 10ths is fun, but after learning how to really drift super well, nothing comes close for me. And lemme tell you, a turbo bmw straight 6 is no slouch. At all. My 5 series made 461 wheel with a BONE stock engine. I added crane valve springs and retainers and a race dynan head gasket and now she made 512 wheel. I dive it every day unless its snowing or raining. She's a fucking riot man. I'm into the build $2200 (not including the car, just the kit and engine work I'm a beemer tech so not counting labor either) and I make 512 wheel. That's tough to beat. It's a T4 Ebay kit with some precision goodies and E85. $200 megasquirt ECU. Such a riot. Should correct myself, when I made 461 I had Bosch 1000cc injectors, 2 walboro 450s, converted the fuel system to return style, and my megasquirt. So, not BONE stock.

Man, this event and this brilliant video of it really show the highs and lows, the sudden changes of emotion and the irrational obsession that play a huge part in motorsport in general, but in drag racing even more so.

Also, those top end shots, the 250mph fly by ones.. they are the reason 1/4 mile will always be better than 1/8th mile.

That Nova at 14:30 is absolutely stunning. Designed to run high 6s and it's still got that incredible amazing level of detail under the hood. Those hood hinges were practically a work of art...on a car running 200 mph quarter-miles!

Honda actually had a serious 1.5 v6 twin turbo engine in formula one back in the mid 80's 1,200hp in qualification trim. Alot of people just don't know about Honda and it's racing history. They think they're only economy cars.

@@brim5204 yes to a point. The import guys are about at the limit of what you can do with 4 and 6 cyl engines. All you can do now is lighten up the cars. The v8s limiting factor is traction. The v8s have so much more power they just cant put it to the track
@@franklast7955 that red eclipse, also known as "red demon" is a 4 cylinder, running 1800hp on 80psi. I'm with you on that v8s have yet to be beat, with top fuel running a 500ci big block, pushing 11k hp. But the only guys that talk shit about any of these monsters in this video are just made because they're shit box will never be this fast.
