- Following last week’s (November 2015) historic eruption of conflict at the University of Missouri, Young America’s Foundation (YAF) sponsored a lecture titled, “Truth is a Microaggression,” by conservative powerhouse Ben Shapiro on Thursday, November 19 at 6:00 PM in Ellis Auditorium.
Shapiro, a New York Times bestselling author and syndicated columnist, who serves as editor-in-chief of DailyWire.com, editor at large of Breitbart, and also hosts radio shows on KRLA and KTIE, will confront Missouri’s campus protesters face-to-face, denouncing their behavior and invading their sacred “safe space” with the raw truth about free speech.
I'm a black American and a business owner. Most of my employees are Asian and white, because, although anecdotal, they work harder and use reason and evidence to solve problems and disputes. I cannot tell you how many fellow blacks I've NOT hired on the basis that they feel like they get a free pass because we share skin color.
Merit has zero to-do with skin color. You want to compete and be great? Do the work, it's that simple.
Fuck this "I'm oppressed" in modern day America. You're amongst the free-ist of the free in the world, and you're wasting it on nonsense.

When I tell guys that having financial security changes your entire paradigm. Knowing your job doesn't own you, fluctuating economies won't worry you, and haters leave you smiling. My daughter went to the state university. Graduated. Started a career. Got married. Bought a house. My son became an apprentice electrician. Bought a house. All of this occurred because my mother, as did my wife’s mother, instilled in us to study and be contributors. She often told her ten children that there many many unfortunate children She said, God gave each of us talents that should not be wasted! At 12, I was expected to cook and clean for the family, doe dishes, care for my little sister and the chickens we had. I did this until I was 19 and left home for my own place. At age 18, my mother told me my rent was $40 per month. I paid it. At 16, Mom and Dad sat me down and showed me their finances, checkbook, bills, everything so I understood how a home was run. Mom went back to work when I was 12, so I was given responsibility for the house and my sister, chickens, and the garden. I was grown up early and could run a household with my hands behind my back. It works. Make your kids work.
Or give them the tools to marry well!😁
That’s truly beautiful. I can’t say I’m not envious. I can definitely cook and clean, but no where near the level of my great gran and grandmother’s generation and I definitely wasn’t taught how to run a home. I would love for this to be taught nationwide, again. But you’re right too; we have to work our whole lives after childhood. If you don’t prepare a child for the work of daily life, you’re setting them up for failure

My 4 children began chores as soon as they could walk.The could put dirty clothes in their hamper and their trash in the trash can.
They kept chores until they moved out of their home! They weren’t given money for their work!!
While in high school, with extremely busy school activities, they worked part-time jobs and never complain. My son and daughter finally had time for homework at 10pm and 11pm respectively.
They continued working part-time in college, while taking full-time classes with the exact same responsibilities as in high school. They never expected a hand-out and learned the value of a dollar. They couldn’t afford to quit their jobs. They were taught to complete what they started.
Today they are accomplished, good adults.
As part of Generation X, I have to take responsibility for creating this new generation of snowflakes and victims. As a generation, we coddled them and gave them participation trophies. We shielded them from things that might cause them pain, and we provided them with everything they wanted without earning it. It's no surprise that they are so easily offended and claim victim status every time someone says something they don't like.

I am a gen x with 4 kids and 14 grandchildren. I did not raise my children to be victims, lazy, entitled, etc. My children had a daily chore and on Saturday they were assigned a room to clean along with their own room. They were not allowed to do anything until their chore was done, and they did not get paid to do the chores due to it being expected as a member of the family/household.
They earned money by doing extra chores.
I raised my kids to have respect for their elders and to have common sense.

I disagree. We live in a society with others. Substance abuse have affected America big time! Who doesn't know of at least one situation where grandparents have had to raise their grandchildren because the parent or parents are strung out on drugs or have died. This kind of thing really pisses me off. I came from a poor white family and childhood with 4 other siblings and we ate pbj sandwiches and tuna fish for 5 yrs of my young child hood. At the age of 14 I took it upon myself to drop out of the public school system that was the worst education vehicle I had ever experienced and did it all on my own because I knew their was a better way. So I started working doing whatever i had to do to build my life up to a comfortable level. And now at 60 yrs old I am finally able to enjoy some of the fruits of my labor.

I had never heard of Ben Shapiro and I was just curious about this video, I had no intention of watching all 1 hour and 50 minutes of it but here I am, an hour and 10 minutes in and I can't turn it off. This man is such an amazing speaker and I agree with him on everything he has said.

My family has a little discount grocery store. I watch everyone discreetly. How closely I watch them depends on how they are acting rather than what skin color they are.
Adopted at 2.5, mom a waitress, dad a laborer, divorced when I was 5... I have 5 younger sisters +2 step sisters. I joined the army at 18.. Not sure what privilege I missed, but I think everyone could do what I did under the circumstances I had. I am blessed today.

@MrFalaranah I don't think that is a good idea. Simply speaking, the democrats and others like them, are just using loop holes in the system and they are trying to destroy the 1st and 2nd. Making it harder to vote by adding more hurdles isn't a solution. I understand your frustration but something more constructive to their removal would be adequate enough.
If we implemented the policy that you speak of we would only slightly shift the scope of abuse for those that seek to abuse it. For the rest of us however, you think the voter fraud is bad now? the things they will be able to pull on the American people would be staggering. It is also very much like the olden times where only nobles and other "important" people will be allowed to vote.

A few years ago I was shopping at Walmart and I saw a young man ( in his twenties) sitting on a bench and he was crying, I asked if he was okay and he replied that he didn't know what to do because his smart phone couldn't tell him what to do because he did not know how to goggle the question in the right way. I suddenly had a thought of why general Patton slapped that kid back in ww2 would have helped this young man in the same way. Me and other men at his age had already been threw college and I had already seen combat in the army, I was disgusted at the thought that these types were the future of America, truly it gave me the most disappointing view of society.

I absolutely love hearing Ben speak. He is so articulate, confident, and steadfast in his beliefs and values. If only most people were like this.
Here is my personal experience. In my freshman writing course, I wrote about gun control for my first paper. Got a “C” along with a comment “so, you don’t believe in gun control?” No comment on writing style or what I did wrong to deserve a C. Well, after that, I stay away from political subject and start writing about feeling like love and such. Got A’s and ended up got an A for the course. Good thing, I was an engineering major and did not have to watch myself after that class.

I've never heard Mr. Shapiro exclusively state he plans to run for the presidency so I'm totally going to say that every comment about him being too young to run, (no sh*t), or that no one would ever possibly vote for him is complete nonsense.
