It is normal to see some gaps at the beginning of a new set of aligners. However, if you consistently see gaps or halos, it may be because your teeth havenât had a chance to move into the correct position yet (increase wear time and use chewies) or itâs a difficult/challenging tooth (lateral incisor). If thatâs the case, your orthodontist may have you continue your aligners to the end of the series and then do a refinement to correct the tooth/teeth that are not tracking. Always seek the advice of your orthodontist for specific concerns because they know your specific case the best. Me too! I get most of my info from Dr. Bailey and Invisalign patients via CZcams
you are amazing. thank you for all your support and the fantastic app! :)
This was so incredibly informative. The way you explain things really breaks it down so easily and concisely. Thank you!
Thank you for the nice comment :)
Your videos are so helpful and full of great tips. Im in that limbo phase where Iâm waiting on my liners to be delivered to my orthodontist so Iâve been watching a lot of videos on clear liners. Yours are by far the best! Thank you đ
Thank you and good luck with your upcoming treatment.
This information was so helpful! Thank you so much!
So glad to hear it was helpful. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Your comment helps others to find this channel.
I have smile direct and I just put a new set in and actually have quite a large gap. This helps a lot. Thank you !I will do chewing exercises.
This is literally the only thing that is going to get me through Invisalign treatment! Thank you for the app :)
Thanks for your support and best of luck with your treatment.
Thank you so much Dr. Bailey again. May god bless you!
Thank you.
Everyone: Focusing on the video.

Nice. So far so good and it seems early too!
THANK YOU FOR THIS!! I also learned more from you than my own dentist. I was not aware of how important it was to make sure I had no air gaps. I was on Tray 5 and had to go back to Tray 2 to correct one tooth that was not tracking. I did not know about chewing exercises either đą. So I almost back to square one unfortunately.
Based on comments here and other sites, there seems to be an epidemic of bad Invisalign orthodontists* (including mine)...he never once mentioned chewing exercises, never once looked at the tray in my mouth to see tracking, etc. During my 12 month treatment, I've had to insist on things I wanted - like a wider smile. During my "final" evaluation," he didn't even mention that my right molars weren't touching, he just seems to want to be done and get me out the door. I can't help but wonder if some orthos are using Invisalign to churn out patients for fast money.
*Dr Bailey, you seem like an exception to this - very patient and thorough
Perhaps your orthodontist is the [bad] exception. Have you sought, or even considered, additional opinions?

U answered my question!
Was worried, I appreciate your help
Thatâs to hear. Good luck with your treatment:)
Thanks for your information â€
Youâre welcome! Have a great day. Thanks for taking the time to comment - it really helps this channel out.
This was such a helpful video, really really helped me understand that I need to take a close look before switching to another oneđâ€...
Glad it was helpful! Good luck with your treatment.
This video was very helpful, however left me with one question... what If one tooth specifically Is not tracking? Should I continue wearing my next aligners or not? Thanks Dr.
Great information. Can I ask, if there is a space between the aligner and the gum line is that normal. I have spaces between the gum line on my molars on both sides when I switch to the next aligner
Your videos are really informative and you are super sweet. I was wondering if you could do a video comparing Invisalign and ClearCorrect and talk about the clinical effectiveness of different aligner materials like Zendura FLX and ClearCorrect ClearQuartz. I also wanted to know if Invisalign and ClearCorrect have different approaches to tooth movement (frontal vs undermining resorption) because their respective tray switching periods are 7 days and 14 days. In one of your other videos, you mentioned factors that inhibit tooth movement (NSAIDs, older age, etc.), but what promotes it? It seems like chewies and Propel increase osteoblastic activity but are there other factors such as a calcium rich diet or regular exercise that have a similar effect?
I'm just a patient who wants to speed up my treatment. I'm considering asking my orthodontist to increase my switching frequency.
It sounds like you are quite well informed and knowledgeable already. I can record a evidenced based video on some of the modalities used to decrease orthodontic treatment time in the future. In regards to frontal vs undermining resorption, the goal is almost always frontal resorption (there are some exceptions I wonât go into). To my understanding, the default force and amount of movement per aligner for Invisalign is designed for frontal resorption, unless the clinician changes the amount of movement per aligner purposely. Therefore, assuming the force system is the same between aligner brands (I havenât used Clear Correct enough to comment), the switch schedule affects the amount of time we give to the bone building osteoblasts activity AFTER the teeth have already moved (usually 3 days with frontal resorption). Some patients build up bone much slower than normal and if they switch their aligners too fast (ie 7 days instead of 10 or 14), their teeth start to become too loose/mobile. Your orthodontist, having been trained in esthetics/facial harmony/proportions, biology, and biomechanics/physics, will be the best person to calibrate your switch schedule. But if you wear your aligners 22 hours a day, it doesnât hurt to ask :)
@@TrayMinder
Thatâs so interesting about the bone rebuilding! My orthodontist is a Diamond provider and has everyone, to my knowledge, on each tray for 2 weeks. It does seem two weeks is best âfor good measure.â
This so helpful, I was going to all fit my money back lol
Hi Dr. Bailey my son doesnât have attachments in yet, he was told to wear stage 1 for 2 weeks and then switch to stage 2, which is supposed to be happening today. I saw halos and gap between where teeth are and where aligners end. Should I have him change to stage 1? Iâll call his orthodontist tomorrow.
Hello, Dr. I switched to tray number 5 aligner (out of 13 trays), and I noticed air gaps in my upper teeth, while the lower teeth seem to be okay. Should I go back to tray number 4 only for the upper teeth?
Yeah, this is exactly my issue. Currently, itâs my second tray, and it has made those teeth that were not supposed to be forward, pushed forward, and those that were supposed to be pushed backward, were not pushed backward. It basically made my teeth worse. And yeah, my aligners are too big for my teeth. Moreover, I want to ask u whether a person can wear Invisalign with ALL baby teeth?
If my teeth aren't tracking, so i wear a set longer. Once I notice my teeth have tracked, do I need to wear them a couple extra days? The TM app is amazing btw
I finished the main aligners that you wear as much as you can each day and switch each week. Now I'm on the aligners where you just have to wear them at night. The only problem is that I literally can't sleep with them on. They're so uncomfortable, hurt like hell, stay sore long after the morning, and makes my saliva glands act up like never before. I want my teeth to be straight, but if this is what it takes, then i don't know if it's worth losing literal sleep over
That doesnât sound like fun. Soreness means the retainer is active. Talk to your dental provider about it. Excess salivary flow should go away in a few days as your body realizes that itâs not food in your mouth. There are different options for retainers if you donât adjust after a few weeks. czcams.com/video/YeBP6J682_o/video.html
So glad I found your video, I was hoping to find this. I started with 7 for my top but we are now on 21. I recently noticed that my teeth looked much better around 7 or 14. How do you fix a situation where let's say you liked your teeth better at 14 but now you are at step 20 and your mouth has now changed, therefore 14 doesn't fit? My teeth were more spacious, I never had a crowding problem. However now it is much tighter since the dentist I am guessing was trying to straighten up my bite. My mouth had a lot more room before so when I put on my older aligners they are big. How can I correct or fix this? What would your recommendation be
I got my first tray a couple days ago, there is literally no clear space but I do feel some mild pressure while wearing. Not sure how Iâll know when to switch, they reccomended 2 wks per tray but Iâm kind of thinking 1 at least for this tray đ€·đœââïžI hate to be wasting time in a tray but definently donât want to do anything wrong
should i take care of any teeth as far as crown, cavity before going to put invisalign or spark or the same doctor that puts spark or .. can fix do the crown or fixing cavity....tks
Hi. Do you know where I can get the picture chart you showed to look out for tracking issues?
You can see it on our TrayMinder Instagram page. You can share or repost our post.
I hate how my ortho never told me about chewies
Sameee!!!!
I'm doing Dentiline instead of invisalign and they don't give chewies or recommend any chewing exercises. Will my teeth track properly?
Hi again.....I could call my Ortho, but you are right here đ.....my aligners are not bothering me at all. I do not have any halos at all. I wear 21-22 hours/day and do chewing exercises. This is my first tray. Sometimes we think "no pain, no gain". Do you suppose the second tray will be different or is it just a situation with my teeth...thanks so much!
Only time will tell. Each aligner stage is different and it varies based on your unique treatment plan.
Chewing exercises? I was told to only use it when I set the trays with the chewie thing and do it gently. Also had 2 weeks there were gaps and not told I needed to wear them longer. I only had one day I was 20 hours instead of 23.
I am on tray 5 and have noticed halos. My dentist gave me the propel c-shape device. Should I use chewies also.
what if there is a gap between the upper side of the tooth and the aligner? does that mean not tracking still?
My aligners are like that even the very first set. And my orthodontist said itâs normal đ©
what if you are done with your treatment and you start seeing halo spaces what should I do?
ever since my ortho told me to wear my retainer at night on the weekends this started happening any advice?
What about a gap between the front of the tooth and the front of the aligner?
I got my trays for whitening like couple days ago and I noticed that thereâs a gap and some like bubbles in my two upper front teeth is that normal? Or trays not fits? And yea I noticed that thereâs like white spots on my front teeth either after using it Iâm kinda worried
Hi! This video was very helpful. Iâm on my 16th tray, about halfway done. I have the indents, but one tooth isnât tracking and hasnât been since my last appointment 3 months ago! They never gave me a chewey (I didnât know they were even a thing!) they only advised I wear my aligners 22 hours (which I do!) I have my next appointment in two weeks and am fearful that if needed, Iâll be the one paying for the refinements. đ any advice?
Hi. No need to worry yet. Some teeth do not fully track (lateral incisors, Iâm looking at you), even with 22/7 wear and chewing exercises. Refinements are typically normal part of comprehensive treatment. Of course the terms of the ortho contracts can vary depending on each office so be sure to inquire about that. Finally, chewing exercises are helpful part of treatment but not âneededâ and each doctorâs treatment orders are different. Itâs best to follow the advice of your treating doctor. Final tip: Many patients show their excellent wear time statistics on the TrayMinder app to their doctors as a way to show excellent wear time compliance. Good luck.
oh myy godd thank god im not the only one that have the same problem đđ
Isabell Dawn - I hope you see this even though it's a year since your comment. I am at about the same point as when you commented. One tooth is not tracking. I was never told about Chewies, but I do chew on a folded washcloth. The tooth is supposed to have an attachment button on it, but it keeps falling off because it's a crown. The thumbnail picture for this video looks exactly how my tooth looks. My dentist saw this, but he didn't tell me not to move on to the next tray, as this video warns. Since you must be done with treatment now, I was wondering if your one tooth came out okay. Did you have to do refinements just for that tooth and how much longer did it take?
@@e.castlerock8454 I did two refinements, and the tooth unfortunately did not move much. Your case could be totally different though!! I just finished about a month ago.
@@isabelldawn - Wow, I really didn't think you'd see my comment, much less within minutes! Congratulations on completing your treatment. Sorry to hear about the one tooth. That may be my fate as well. I'll find out in 11 months. Thanks for your reply!
If a new aligner tray takes a while (15 minutes or more) to get on teeth and click into place but does fit after a while, dies it mean you are not ready for it?
I had tray 1 on for 7 days (instructed 10 days each) and today, my dentist changed me to tray 2 today along with my attachments. I realized there are gaps on my front 4 tooth when I got home (plus back side of last molar is only half covered. Front side is fine). My dentist says itâs fine but Iâm worried if my movements are being rushed. Please help :(. Itâs Friday and office is closed
New trays typically have gaps or halos. If they fit perfectly, your teeth wouldnât move. Only your doctor knows the specifics of your treatment.
@@TrayMinder how long should I expect to see the halos and when is it too much of a halo?
My aligners fit perfectly except the front two teeth have tracking. Itâs like my teeth just arenât long enough to reach the bottom but everywhere else is fine.
The best thing to do is to take a picture and email it to your treating provider for their advice. Only he/she has your treatment information.
What do do if you need the attachments back on your teeth?
Once my last tray was finished and I switched to retainers they didn't want to sit tight on my teeth without the 'hooks' that attachments provide. Hence the problem tooth (lateral incisor) tilted back again. If bite or push on the retainer/aligner plastic where the gap is, it sits with less gap, but with the hook is slips back down.
It's best to consult your orthodontist to address this issue and they will be able to evaluate your specific case and recommend the best course of action to help your retainer fit better and keep your teeth in their proper position.
Hello, I was previously on my second tray and I didnât notice a halo but I have changed to my 3rd tray and notice the space/haloâŠ.is this normal does this mean my teeth are supposed to come down by the time I have worn them for the advised number of days or are my teeth not tracking?
Some minor halo may be normal for some teeth and other teeth (lateral incisors) have difficulty tracking. Not all teeth move accordingly to plan and thatâs why refinement trays are needed sometimes. Itâs like working out - we all have stubborn spots on our bodies. Bring it to your treating doctorâs attention and they should be able to guild you in what to do moving forward.
Chewing exercises?
Could u plz elaborate on power ridges...n whai s the chewing exercise u mentioned n that case..
There are videos on power ridges and chewing exercises on the TrayMinder CZcams channel.
Hi Dr. Bailey, is Spark Aligners are as good as Invisalign?
I havenât used Spark Aligners but it is made by a reputable orthodontic company. Ultimately the experience and care of the doctor is more important than the tool used.
Chewing exercises? I got Invisalign today and they never mentioned this. Can someone tell me what that is?

Hello . Thatâs such an amazing video! Iâm from Brazil đ§đ· and I was looking for informations about the lack of tracking in the Invisalign system. Iâm worried cause this is happening with just one tooth of mine. My dentist told me to keep using and moving towards the following steps , and if will be need we can use additions in the end of the treatment. Sorry to bother you , but do you mind sharing your opinion? Thank you đ
Thank you for your kind comment. It is common to keep moving ahead and then order additional aligners to refine the movements.
@@TrayMinder thank you for the explanation
I was on week 18 of 28 and I got backtracked to week 13. It is completely my fault for not giving them enough wear time...but please tell me I'm not the only one..I feel so discouraged and mad at myself.
Donât beat yourself up, youâre not the first or the last. Just jump back on and go for 22 hours a day. TrayMinder app has a timer feature to help you remember to wear your aligners until you establish a good habit. Good luck!
How much did you wear them? How many hours?
@@clinteastwood7780 Iâve seen people with the same problem wear them for 10 hours
I think this is about to be me. I haven't been wearing mine enough during the day. And I also now have a chipped tooth...which I'm worried is going to make things worse. I feel like my aligners not fitting, my teeth grinding, and my chipped tooth are all going to be a vicious cycle contributing to one another.
And I started a new job and am between insurances and can't get off work to go in. I'm so stressed and discouraged! đ And it's probably mostly my fault.
Definitely not the only one. I completely fell off the the bandwagon and Iâm just now getting back on track.
I guess I should be doing the chewing exercises more frequently..Didnt know it was just as important..only used them 2x in 1 month..just got my 2nd set of trays..
Chewies help to seat your trays fully, which helps to better move your teeth. Itâs not essential but it is helpful for many patients. Good luck with your treatment.
@@TrayMinder ok, thank you kindly!
Im on day 4 and Iâve been chewing and I still have halos and itâs my first aligner
Give it a little more time. Some very slight halos are fine- they give teeth room to move. Ask your dentist if unsure.
At this time
This is interesting. For most of my treatment I have had halos on my lateral incisors. They have never once looked at my trays in my mouth when I have come in to pick up my new set. My dentist has never encouraged me to use chewies - although I have used them on my own. I have a few other issues that I don't know will be addressed. I'm feeling some regret that I didn't go with a more seasoned Invisalign orthodontist because I have lost some faith in my dentist's knowledge of how my teeth are moving. I hope that the refinements actually complete the job and I'm not left unsatisfied with my expensive treatment. :-/
No because I feel the same way
I started invisalign November 2020. Im.still.wearing them and my teeth weren't really that bad! Never heard of tracking or chewing! My dentist is a Platinum one but wish I'd just gone to an orthodontics and had tracks on.to be honest. Invisalign is a pain in the arse!
Thanks for sharing your experience. Aligners are not the right fit for everyone.
My back molars are not tracking - a huge gap between aligner and teeth but the front teeth (incisors and canines) are tracking. i have been using chewie but still not working. I do have the habit of night grinding which has created a posterior open bite as well. should I continue wearing the aligner if the molars are not fitting ?and are there any tips that can help with preventing grinding that could worsen my posterior open bite? thank you!
Email your ortho provider with your question and they should be able to answer any specific questions. This video may help: czcams.com/video/HfnZuTIVyOc/video.html
Iâm on a new set but it doesnât do. The upper set is where I have trouble If I push it in it will align fine but as soon as I let go the set fold down.
Anything I can do to help it stay ?
You can try the next set to see if itâs doing the same thing. If so, ask your orthodontist for advice.
Hi! If i use the chewies, is it going to break the « little things » attached to some of my teeth? Many thank !
Chewie use should not break attachments but itâs best to ask your treating orthodontist if they advise the use of chewing exercises for your case.
@@TrayMinder is any problem if any attachment missed?
@Ravi, call your orthodontic office and see what whey advise. Either they will call you in to repair or do it at your next appointment (or sometimes leave off).
This makes sense. Thatâs why itâs painful. Bcuz some are switching before they should?
Great question. Different people have different pain tolerance and the type and amount of tooth movement varies between patients. Typically the pain subsides after three days.
Now I'm worried.. lol I did my full alighner plan with halos đ đ
same man i have been moving onto next one
should i be worried
would it be fine if i had an incisal gap but i left it there for 24 hours without using cottenballd to have it fit?
Wearing your aligners as instructed is the most important. See Chewing exercise video for more info.
Should I do my chewing exercises before I put on elastics? Or should I do it with my elastics on?
Either is fine. If the elastics pull your aligners down or up, use chewies after.
Hi Iâm on my thrid last tray and one of my front teeth have a halo also between my left front tooth and the incisor tooth I have developed a gap that I never had before will this gap close with the two last trays or is it a problem my front tooth isnât perfect yet either and Iâm worried and wondering if the gap will close and tooth straighten up with only two trays to go Thankyou for any information you can provide the gap really concerns me as I never had one there before treatment
Thanks for sharing your experience. Take a picture of what you're describing and email it to your treatment doctor. That way, they can look at your individualized plan and let you know if it's something you have to be worried about. Good luck with your treatment.
What are chewies I never heard Iâm going on week 4 I believe I donât notice a huge difference I notice a tiny bit . Dr. Bailey, Iâm on my first tray and noticed that I have a small gap between my gum line and my tray. Basically the plastic doesnât reach the gum line or cover the entire tooth. Is this normal?
Great question. You doctor chooses how far the trays extend (at gum line or just short of it).
I wear my aligners for a good 21 to 22 hours a day and chew on the chewies occasionally and I'm seeing these halos getting bigger. I'm now 9 days into my 7th tray and I'm wondering if I have to wear these #7 aligners even longer.
I'm confused. Do we HAVE to chew on the chewies every single time we put the aligners back in, and thats whats slowing down the tracking? My orthodontist didn't tell me all that. Never mentioned chewing exercises just to use the chewies to make sure the aligners are snug enough.
Some patients always chew on their chewies to better seat their aligners when they put on their aligners. They keep the chewie in their case. You should consult with your orthodontist whether that is advisable for you.
@@TrayMinder i mean, I thought I kept up with my chewies too but seeing the halos makes me think I need to chew more...I will definitely contact my orthodontist. Thanks for the reply!! đ
im on my final week (22) and on the top aligner next to my two front teeth the one after that is a small gap and i dont know what to do i have been doing d=chewing exercies but nothing is helping
That does occur sometimes. Your doctor will evaulate the actual position of your teeth and decide what the step should be.
I went on a vacation and left my Invisalign for 2 weeks, now they REALLY hurt when i put it on. Should i just bare with it? Or should i do something else?
You should ask your orthodontist what the best course of action is. If you have kept your previous aligners, you should ask if you should go backwards to see which fits best and restart from there.
Hii doc I m on my after braces treatment that is i have been provided with the clear plastic retainers three days ago today I saw that a cover layer came off from my plastic retainer is it normal ?and please do tell how to stop night grinding while on the retainers

Settings and âAdjust color codesâ
I just switched to aligner 7 and Iâve got a halo in one of my back teeth... does that mean I have to wear previous aligner? Or should I just wait for several days?
New aligners do not fit perfectly. Make the evaluation after you have worn the aligner for the prescribed number of days.
My 3rd aligner was broken on 11 day and for remaining 3 days I got new 3rd aligner .When I wear it it so tighten. why?when I already wear it for 11 days.
New aligners are always tighter.
Can you explain "chewing exercises" a bit more? I have the sticks that I chew on when I put my trays on after eating. Is that what you're talking about?

Can you wear aligners while pregnant
Hi doctor, my orthodontist has not provided me with any chews or told me about any chew excercises. All I was provided with was a box with aligners and told to wear each aligner for 10days each. I had an appointment after box 1 and was told all is well- no scans or anything was done - just a visual check and I was sent on my way with box 2âŠIâm currently 2days into week 17 aligner and I have noticed only one tooth having a halo. I have an appointment on 22nd January by when I wouldâve started aligner #20⊠Should I wait till then to ask my orthodontist if my teeth are tracking well or should I ask to be seen sooner?
is the teeth moving ? have u seen any differences? cause i don't see any difference after 3 months...now i feel like , does this thing really work
My upper teeth are not tracking properly and when I put my Aligners in place they do the click in the hooks? Should I keep wearing my current tray?

How often should I do the chewing exercises and for how long?

Hi Dr. If my attachments/engagers are cracking and chipping, do I need to get them re-done?
It depends on where you are in your treatment and whether your teeth are tracking. Call your orthodontic office and ask what they recommend.
I'm on my 4th tray and the uppers didn't fit at all like the first 3. The bottoms fit perfectly though. The crazy thing is, I tried the 5th upper just cause and it fit perfectly. So now I'm confused as hell. I'm using Smiledirect and with the language barrier he made it even worse. No help, as l eard is more $ and impressions.
I just got my attachments put on and it was uncomfortable, it hurt and the nerve pain from the curing light was horrible. The girl left the light on my teeth way too long and it hurt and it was hot and I was sweating the whole entire time not to mention when they have to polish off the rest of the attachment glue and that was not pleasant either. Nobody talks about how unpleasant it is to get the attachments put on. If you have sensitive teeth youâre in for some nerve pain getting the attachments on!!!
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thank you for this. I knew I wasnt crazy!!!!!!
My ortho looked at me as if he never heard of this before! The pressure was so painful. I thought my bottom teeth would break!!!

Hi mam, i have missing lateral incisors both in upper teeth . is aligner help to adjust canine for replacement ..?

Hi, canine substitution or dental implant will depend on a myriad of factors. Please consult an orthodontist for their thorough assessment.
I was having no problems with my trays until I had to get attachments . Iâd honestly rather not have them and just have treatment take longer with regular Invisalign . I cannot take this pain and I canât even put my liners in properly, itâs too painful and I feel like when I put my top ones on itâs jamming into my skull
Adjusting to attachments is definitely hard. I hope you feel better soon.
I can totally agree that the attachments hurt, Iâm in tray 16 out of 17 and Iâm feeling it bad.. I also have to go back and get rescanned on tray 17 because I need to go into phase two because my teeth arenât straight yet.. when you take your slingers out try fetching them through the inside (the side where the attachments arenât at) of your mouth at the farthest teeth in the back, and maybe get some ice water slushees from sonic and take your preferred otc pain reliever
Come on, toughen up. It just a bit hard on the first 1 to 2 days when you remove or put it on, after that is not painful at all.
@@sexyhotd0g It took about a month but i FINALLY am comfortable with them. Never thought the day would come lol
Iâm so frustrated with my ortho . I asked if I should move to my text tray because itâs not tracking and they said yeah itâs fine . I said are you sure because thereâs a gap between my Invisalign and my teeth. They told me to move on and I did. Now they donât fit right . They donât listen to me and itâs frustrating
Sorry to hear that - you must be a very diligent and observant patient. Sometimes doctors expect to see some halos and thus are not too concerned and/or donât want to slow the entire treatment down for one or two teeth. Those non tracking teeth can be âpicked upâ later via adjective treatment or refinement(s). Talk to your orthodontist for further clarification. Good luck with your treatment.
Hi I noticed one tooth wasn't tracking (the most bent one) on week 6-7 I think and I used a towel to chew and flossed the tooth to see and there was a small piece of food in the tooth and I'm gonna wait until I see results At least its only one tooth
I'm a little worried
Keep an eye on it and let your provider know about it. A towel or small washcloth is a good tool to use in lieu of a chewie.
I have 1 tooth that consistently off tracks. I feel as though this is because the tooth naturally is smaller than what the tray is showing. I feel thatâs the reason my tooth tracks but my Ortho. continues to deny when I clearly show them the Invisalign tooth is larger than the actual tooth that keeps falling off track. To give more context, towards the end of the sets of trays (for ex. 8 of 11) thatâs when I notice the tooth no longer fits. I wear my aligners ft most of the time & Iâm able to move into the next tray smoothly or if shifted, they go right back no problem. no other tooth tracks beside this one. Is it possible the computer image is predicting a larger tooth?
You are very observant. Some teeth, such as the lateral incisor, are notorious for not tracking. Itâs because theyâre very small, flat, and lack anatomy. czcams.com/video/hgCjNGseHS0/video.html
I'm having this same issue right F****ing now!
Same issue here!
What are these chewing exercises? My orthodontist has never mentioned them. My top molars have been âbouncyâ every time I put a new tray in. I have to Bend and squeeze the molars on the tray to get it to fit correctly. Today I go to switch trays and my bottom left side doesnât âclickâ into place over the cement anchor. Feels like itâs going to break my teeth off itâs so tight đ

Its my second day i can see the gap closing but when i take out to eat something my gap shift back and opens like before is this normal?
Yes, your teeth can âbounceâ back because the osteoblast cells havenât had the chance to deposit bone yet. See the âHow Teeth Moveâ video for more info on the biology for tooth movement. czcams.com/video/d991Z2JOhFk/video.html
I had to have a wisdom tooth that my orthodontist didn't remove because he thought it wouldn't ever erupt. I had it removed and it's been 2 weeks and I'm wearing my retainer from my first molds, after removing my braces 2 years ago. They fit fine but just feel snug, as my one front tooth slightly shifted. Should I try wearing it before going to see if I need a new retainer or braces? I know that teeth slightly move after wisdom tooth extractions also
Many people have found that their teeth shift back after consistently wearing their old retainers full time for a few weeks (few days to shift and a few weeks to stabilize).
@@TrayMinder thanks so much for replying. I'll wait then, before I have to pay a fee in order to have the braces on, again
I have one question if anyone can answer please. If you do a rescan mid process do attachments have to be off or itâs okay to leave on?!!
Great question. Attachments can be left on.
Ty
My dentist said we need to do refinements because some front tooth arenât tracking. He told me I should keep changing Invisalignâs every week as planned until I have an appointment again (September 8). Is it harmful for the teeth to change Invisalignâs even though some teeth donât track?
Great question, one strategy is to get through as many trays as possible even with a couple of non tracking teeth. Each situation depends. Best to talk to your doctor.
Can anyone explain what those chewing exercises are?

What are chewing exercises?

Hello, Iâm on my tray 7. First visit was given tray 1-6 then had my next appointment 3 months later. Iâm told my teeth are not tracking the front ones top bottom. Which are the ones we want to fix. I was never given written instructions as what to look out for. I was given the chewy sticks to make sure the trays lock in place. On my appointment the doctor only mentioned to use the chewy longer when putting trays on and hopefully they will track otherwise they need to rescan. Question is do I really need to wait until tray 12 to know? Very frustrating
You should contact your ortho... mine is the same, hardly tells me anything! But I complained and now he is giving me the info I need. Not sure what it is about these providers- few of them tell you much of anything!
iâve had my second aligner on for about 12 days and i still have a halo, what should i do? (also i been using chewies daily)
It depends on the size of the halo and the tooth itâs on. Take it picture of it and email it to your treating orthodontist and ask whether you should wear for a few more days or to switch. Some small halos are normal to allow room for the teeth to move into at the beginning of an aligner. Also some teeth (lateral incisors) are very stubborn and will have minor halos throughout treatment because they are notorious for not tracking.
@@TrayMinder okay thank you! Also itâs on a lower incisors I think thatâs the right name.
What should I do if when using chewies and biting on the front two teeth the tray I clips from the molars?
If the back of the tray slips out when youâre chewing in the front, try using two chewies, one in the front and one in the back.
Thankyou, I have tried your advice of bending the backs of the tray very slightly which has worked for my last aligners, however after putting my new aligners in this morning the fit isnât very snug against my 2 front teeth. I have tried to sake trick and have been chewing on chewies for the last hour but itâs not moving them any closer to the tooth. I think it might be a case of having to go back a step.
