- Drone light shows used to be just for the big boys, like Intel. Not anymore.
ArduPilot is now capable of performing drone light shows, thanks to SkyBrush.
This means, ANY ArduPilot capable flight controller can become a drone light show drone. Including a Pixhawk 2.4.8 (as we used in this video).
I thought this would be an impossible project, but it really wasn't that difficult.

Bravo
Thank you!
Very interesting video how to thanks for your step by step bro
No prob man, glad you enjoyed it!
The Quad that fell hit me on my head , now youre in trouble, just make more video like that we'll call it quits......LOL.....THAT SHIT WAS AWESOME!!! BRO i WANT TO BE APART OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT, IM READY🏃♂🏃♂🏃♂
To avoid taking our lawsuit to court, I agree to your terms in settling out of court to provide more videos like this XD
Grate video.
Now i finaly get the picture of mavlink and ardupilot
What track are you playing true the whole video?
Especially at 22minute.
Grate addition
Amazing. Great job. I wonder, can it be more tha 10 drones to do the light show? You know 10 drones at a time is just too little to show a figure or even a number in the air.
Oh for sure you can definitely do more than 10 drones, that's just what I started out with since I had never done it before
Awesome! What is the longest flight time? (I am guessing here) F4 FC with 4s 16850 setup may yield a longer flight time and a smaller drone size, which is better for small size party. We need a better cost effective solution. also, that 8x1 led assemble is such a pain :P . will just a 8x8 do the trick?
Can you make a video on ROS2 with Flight Stack. And which is better supported Ardupilot or PX4?
Interested in these stuffs, will get membership soon.
Awesome! Let me know if you have any questions
Well done super informative! I have a few questions: 1. Instead of using 7 of the neo pixel boards would it not be more effective to use the 8x8 board and only have the one solder point vs each individual board? 2. Is the need for a controller on each drone necessary ? Would it not be more effective to have them all binded to one controller That way In an event of an emergency it’s one switch. For arming would be the same one switch for all.
Great work you’ve have sparked a new project for me!
we need more videos !
Roger that!
Well done sir 🫡
Thank you @ElectronicsFinder!
dammmm thats really awesome ... keep up the good work ... just a small doubt .... can i use telemetry module to connet to diffferent drones and then send commands from a single computer which can reduce the cost of the companion computer .... plus how can i make the size of the drone less and then use them in a drone show
Thank you! Good question. The telemetry module can be used but only for controlling a single drone at a time. This system requires a router based MAVLink network to communicate with the ground control station. A smaller drone could work, but you'll likely get less flight time out of it
@@thedronedojo well thats nice but how can i make a single drone more cheaper? and in a small drone what all components i have to use ? please guide cuz you are the only guy that seems to have knowledge about this stuff
@@kavyanshtyagi2563 we have our next video on how you can connect multiple drones using just a single ground control station.
hi sir , Thanks for your video .do you have a tutorial video for build the system ?
You bet! We have a bunch of free build videos on our CZcams, and a 5 hour Build A Raspberry Pi Drone course on our website
All these beautiful drones....not so wonderful microphone. You guys provide excellent content and educational information. Fix the audio quality and your channel will boom.
Is it on the craft or a sti k command
What rtk are you using?
What is the development cost of each drone including all components, and what firmware did you use in the flight controller?
So cool i have to wear a jacket
like for the song
I'm here for it
Did you have to load any software to the Raspberry Pis to make this work or is that for future use?
I used MAVProxy and Pymavlink on the raspberry pi to handle the MAVLink networking side of things. The pixhawk and pi are connected with 2 communication channels: UART and MicroUSB. Both channels are used to pass along commands coming from the Skybrush Live GCS
I am super new, and plan to buy the course. What is this RD Pilot or Ardi-Pilot software he mentions?
Hi there Jeff!
ArduPilot is the firmware that runs on the flight controller. It basically tells all the sensors how to fuse together to get a good position estimate. It also updates the motors at 400 times a second to stay level. I'd recommend checking out the Drone Programming Primer first, as that covers all the software like this in detail. After that, go into the How To Build A Raspberry Pi Drone course. Then you're ready for the Drone Light Show course. All of those are included in the Blue Belt program
RockStar (Superstar ) bro
That's high praise
Hey, can you help me with a question, What is the weight of one drone?
Yooo long time after
You bet
Can I use the software to fly a couple fixed wing aircraft in a formation with aerobatics?
With the power of programming you can do anything.
Hmm I don't think the Skybrush + Ardupilot collab has ported this idea to ArduPlane, but I don't see a technical reason why this wouldn't be possible
@LupusMechanicus definitely
please could it also be connected to your MICRO DRONE with Pi ZERO. And how much does everything cost extra? I mean probably just RTK+lighting?
The RTK price would be the same. Right now, there's no escaping that. It's about $200 per RTK GPS. Could change in the future. The smaller drones have enough flash on the F405 FC to run, but they'd likely get a much lower flight time than the big drone with the LED payload.
When searching for a rover that follows gps waypoints using a pixhawk, is it possible to do without a transmitter to send commands? Using the mission planner software

It's definitely possible. We did that exact thing in this video czcams.com/video/hC4i5TGB6SY/video.html
😊
Is here4 rtk base compatible?
I think it'd be a difficult base, because the only interface is CAN. Whereas the ArduSimple has USB access. I believe IR-lock also has a selection of base station GPSs as well
Hi dojo, I want ask you about an open source packages to program the drone using python 3 because dronekit and pymavlink use python 2.7.
These programs actually do work with python3 now
If you join the Dojo there is also discussion about this on the site forum.
I decided to check out the 6 hour course on your website, but it says that it is closed. Will I still get access to the course when I subscribe to the blue belt membership?
Hi there!
This has been fixed. All courses are open for enrollment, and all courses are accessible with Blue Belt membership.

Can you do a DIY power washing drone? I'd buy that kit.
Not a bad idea, would be a cool project!
@@thedronedojo make a future video on that if you can
Can you share the open source link

bro why you connect gps to can port you can connect gps port right , is this normal gps
The here4 GPS is a CAN gps, so it wouldn't work in the GPS port cause that is serial
oh man, where did you get this fossil frames?
Did you see those 'fossil frames' survive a fall from 30 ft?
@@thedronedojo I'm not saying they're bad, I just saw them on sale last time in 2015-2017
your site is offline
Bro why have you used raspberry Pi?
the networking to coordinate the local mavlink wifi network. Each drone has a unique static IP so that the GCS can target each individual drone
@@thedronedojo can you explain howbto to interface it with flight controler
(ring... ring... call to local OK PD) I would like to report a UFO. No, I am not crazy and it just landed and I see aliens coming out! Please come quickly. 👽👽👽
