    Saw this thing this weekend. You guys were parked right next to my camper. We were the camp on the other side of the bus. We were also the brave camp in your snow dunes trip video.

      @@LUNDFAMILYADVENTURES I have to admit that's very impressive haha!

    I'm curious how much boost was being applied to the engine when it was stock? And how much boost after being "built"?

    • @offroaddiaries
      @offroaddiaries  Před 4 měsíci

      It was around 7lbs when it blew. Stock rods are just not made to handle this amount of boost. I'm at a out 10 lbs now. Once the tubing is done probably be around 15 lbs.

      @@offroaddiaries I asked because I just finished installing a Kraftwerks supercharger the runs 7.5 psi. I haven't heard of this being a problem with the stock xp1000. One thing to note: it says in the manual not to exceed 8500 rpm. However this is for the sake of the supercharger not being over spun. I suppose that it would also be beneficial to the engine well. What octane rating did you run in the stock motor? Did you run colder plugs?

    • @offroaddiaries
      @offroaddiaries  Před 4 měsíci

      Interesting. I didn't know that kraftwerx made a SC option for the 1000s. It's also weird that they would have something set up to lower than the target point of stock clutching. 8750 is about where the stock clutching is. Did they send you a clutch kit? And 7.5 is a bit hight depending on CFM for stock rods. They're very weak under boost and the stock compression.

      @@offroaddiaries They collaborated with dyno jet for the clutch kit and the tune. And no I had to purchase those separately (2x$$$). It said in the manual if you spin the supercharger over 8500rpm you can damage the supercharger and void the warranty. I just got the clutching dialed in last night, I ended up with 79 grams on the clutching to get it down to 8550rpm. I runs very smooth other than the additional power you would think it's stock.

      @Indianahillclimber I think bringing the rpm down is the right move. Especially under boost. And of course to keep you within the warranty. Just make sure to keep up with checking your oil constantly. And try not to hold it wide open for long periods of time. It's not like the engine will die within 10 minutes or anything. But they for sure don't like long pulls under boost. I'd say save up for the short block next. Crank, rods and pistons and you'll have a fun machine!
