    •Joseph or Yosef, was the eleventh son of Jacob and first son of Rachel in the book of Genesis. He is also mentioned prominently in the Qur'an as a Prophet, most notably in the 12th chapter, named after him. The story of Joseph is told in Genesis, chapters 37-50 (one of the longest continuous narratives in the Bible).
    Joseph is one of the best-known figures in the Torah, famous for his coat of many colors (although this is a possible mistranslation of the Hebrew phrase "kethoneth passim" which means a "shirt with sleeves".

      @@ericburns9132the problems I have with Joseph king of dreams is the changes made almost makes the brothers look unremorseful of their actions since they not only hurt Jacob but Rachel as well who told Joseph to be more understanding of his brothers and they repay her by making her think her first child was dead and then the movie dosen't show them thinking their imprisonment was them being paid back for what they did to Joseph they even protested that they've done nothing wrong when they're being arrested which we all know is a lie and while Joseph and asenath had a loving relationship it seems in the part where the brothers return she comes of as pretentious expecting Joseph to forgive his brothers after years of trauma they caused by their betrayal it really looks like she was taking their side I don't know if it's because their cruelty brought her and Joseph together or if she's one of those all loving heroines who see the good in everyone even people like them she and Rachel do have a lot in common in regards to Joseph reconcilating and looked exasperated when Joseph doubts they may have changed over the years

    In case anyone was wondering why the butler and the baker were in there as well, it's because according to the Tora (the Jewish bible) the baker was there because in a a loaf of bread he baked for the pharaoh was a stone and when the pharaoh took a bite, it cracked his tooth. The butler was there because in a cup of wine he served to the pharaoh was a fly.

    Joseph escapes; refusing to betray his master like this. She lied: he had raped her. Potiphar orders: “You must be put to death.” Joseph fell on his knees before Zulekia & pleads for help. She heard the begging in his voice, & saw the look of despair in his eyes: “Stop. He doesn’t deserve to die.” Death was too high a price, even for Joseph. Potiphar: “Why?” The look on her face told him. It was her fault. He ordered him to be thrown in prison. Favoring a slave would destroy his reputation. He trusted Joseph did no wrong, but showed he was sorry, after Joseph was led away.

      @@credendovides20 It's hard to think about stuff like that when you were a kid growing up with these stories. When you see movies like this, it makes Bible stories look so innocent. When I was a kid watching this film, I thought that she was trying to flirt with him and get him to kiss her. I didn't think that she was trying to sleep with him, because I didn't know what sex was when I first watched this. When I realized what she was actually trying to do, it ruined my childlike innocence slightly.

    Look I personally have nothing to say about her lusting for Joseph. Forcing herself by using her status is wrong but just finding him attractive and wanting to have sex, I got nothing to say about it. It happens all the time and just biology, even if you are happy with your marriage or relationship. HOWEVER, what I am puzzled about is why she even felt the need to tell her husband a lie that Joseph forced himself on her, only to imply she was lying about it in just a few seconds. That has got to be the stupiest thing ever.

    • @Balnazzardi
      @Balnazzardi Před rokem

      Indeed made no sense...and besides wasnt it earlier on clearly stated that Joseph worked for her, not for her husband? So her wants/needs would/should have been Joseph's priority anyway? So even if Potiphar had found out, she could have just said Joseph was simply doing what she told/wanted him to do. He was slave after all (and I dont mean to defend slavery, just stating this as matter of fact how it was at that time) and would need to obey her.
      Overall her quick confession and Potiphar's reaction to it implies that this wasnt the first time she had done something like this and that he knew that she was lusting for other men than him.
      Anyhow I know back then "open relationships" for ppl in high positions was even less acceptable than it is even today, but ppl in general in marriage/relationship should be more open about these things, otherwise its bound to sooner or later end up cheating. If couple's would agree that its ok for both to seek sexual relationship with others or if not, then just part ways things would be so much easier for everyone.
      I know if I was Joseph, I would have used the excuse of being slave and being obedient as the reason for going along with it :D Cause even if you wouldnt find her attractive/want sex, you could atleast more likely get away from trouble.

      According to the Bible, when she saw how handsome he was, she loved him, and wanted him to be with her, but Joseph knew it was wrong, when Potiphar trusted him with everything. To take his wife would be the ultimate betrayal. Here, she heard the despair in his voice and saw the pleading look in his eyes, and told Potiphar: “Stop. He doesn’t deserve to die.” Death was too high a price, even for Joseph. So, Potiphar softened the punishment, and ordered him thrown in prison.
