Giro d'Italia 2016 Stage 19 - The comeback! | Scarponi was awesome!

This was the decisive stage of the 20116 Giro:
Steven Kruijswijk was the Maglia Rosa and pretty much dominated the competition. The only contenders were Esteban Chavez (2nd), Valverde, Zakarin and Nibali.
Nibali want feeling very strong during the Giro. He lost time, showed phisyc and psycological signs of fatigue. But this stage had some surprises:
1) Steven crashes against the snow and brakes a rib (mind you it as almost half the stage to go).
2) Zakarin has a spectacular crash, but fortubatly everything was good
3) Scarponi wins at the first climb, categoriclly, but satys behind to help nNbali recover and eventually win the stage. He could’ve won the stage too, but he chose to help his friend and leader.

Michele Scarponi, 38:13 , was killed by the driver of a van who later admitted being distracted watching a video in his smart phone... Another sad example for the "don't text and drive" campaign...

It was not a fake mechanical.
He just stopped, put all the water bottles on the the bike and restart very slowly and waited for Nibali.
