SO rad you’re doing reviews now dude… huge fan of every board you’ve influenced and will most likely be copping a GM. I already have a HTH and a territory manager. I’d love to see a review on the TM and maybe hear your explanation of the differences between the TM & the HTH. On paper the TM is a dream come true for me… a more twin HTH? say less. HTH blew my mind dude and I ended up copping a free thinker and diving head first back into Burton because of how good that board was… freethinker is a heater too… y’all just know how to make such sick cambered snowboards. thank you.
Hyped Mark is getting into the youtube game! Would love to see a dive into outerwear - where I notice most of the Burton Team wears AK especially in backcountry/big mountain scenarios, I notice Mark usually donning the Breaker or Carbonate series outerwear. Which I prefer, given the more simple styling and baggier fit, even though I use it for splitboarding, etc. Would also love to hear the story of developing the Territory Manager from your side, and how inspo came from the Hometown Hero!

Great video. It’s nice when the tech is explained in regards to what it actual does/ how it translates out on the hill while we’re riding. Seeing someone ride the board and describe how it handles various conditions is very helpful too. I am very excited about this board. Considering one to share with my Dad. He is 63. He Grew up snurfing. He had both hips replaced two years ago. He Is in good shape since he bikes a lot. We ride in midwest where snow conditions vary throughout the season. Aside from the burton throwback at the sled hill He has not been out riding a board with bindings for a few years now. He was an intermediate rider in the past. I am thinking this is the board for him. He likes slow to medium speed surfy free riding. You said the grill master did fairly well in hard pack? I am guessing it is hard to catch an edge. My Dad is concerned about falling considering his age and hip status. Is there a better fit for surfy riding on various conditions? Thanks for your time.

Thanks so much! Gril Master is definitely going to be more friendly of a ride than the Territory Manager. TM was designed to be more aggressive and stiffer. Gril Master has a larger spread of fun, friendliness at lower speeds and All mountain advanced boarding. TM is less playful at lower speeds and stiffer for those High speeds and aggressive riding styles. Hope that helps!
@@marksollors in the video you recorded with the guys at Tribute, you mention the TM is stiffer than HTH, but when I flex mine (152HTH vs 154 TM), the TM feels softer (I have yet to ride it). The way I understood at purchase was that TM is basically a slightly wider less setback less tapered HTH, but still with the soft torsional flex between the feet and general feel of the HTH. Did I misunderstand? Do you still ride your TM? Which do you prefer (for what purpose) between HTH vs TM?
@@minh-quantran5747 The TM is stiffer than the HTH. You are correct that Torsional flex is similar between the HTH and TM but the nose and tail of the TM will be stiffer. It's going to be something you'll most likely notice when you're riding it more than just flexing it off snow. I do still ride my TM and it's been updated with the new graphics but same build construction. I prefer the TM for the stiffer, more agressive ride compared to the HTH. I should mention I'm 6'1', 185-190 lbs with size 11 boots so for my style of riding the HTH always felt a little soft for me. That is why we started working with the Territory Manager. Hope this helps.

That's a tough question to answer. I'm in a fortunate position where I have access to both Strap and Step on so for me there is no one or the other decision. I'll bounce between the two binding systems depending on my mood/terrain/conditions/people I'm riding with etc. Sorry I can't give you a more clear answer.
Hey Mark, hoping you'll see this and many thanks for the reply if you do. Interested in this board and trying to decide between the 160 and the 165. I'm 6'3", 185 lbs, size 12 boot. Snowboarding for 30 years, mostly freeride and backcountry with a little messing around in the park. I've ridden 60+ boards this season, doing reviews and what not on our channel but I'm having a hard time figuring out what size is right for the ideal experience on this board. Maybe it doesn't matter much? Generally when I choose between sizes, I go longer and wider but the 165 seems like it might be a bit much. I really like the 163w deep thinker, the 162 skeleton key, and the 160 free thinker although I find most Burton boards to be a bit narrower than I prefer. I'm in Utah and can ride this in pretty much whatever style I want, it could be a smaller more playful board for resort or I could use it to hit bigger lines the backcountry. I guess I'm trying to figure out what size would best represent the feel and purpose of the board for me. Thanks for any thoughts, sorry for the novel!
Hey! Sorry for my delay on this response. Happy to help the best I can. From the information youve given me I think I would recommend the 165. The GrilMaster is wide yes but with the large taper and mid range stiffness it’s actually a very easy board to ride. I think you’ll really enjoy it especially with your long history snowboarding. It may feel a bit big on hard pack resort but trust me it will make up for it when you get into softer snow. Hope this helps and if you have any follow up questions let me know and I’ll keep an eye for the response.

I have an 11.5 size boot and I love to carve, putting my board high on edge (28 years of snowboarding freeride, free carve and recreational racing) . Yo Mark, thinking of pulling the trigger on this. Caught between the 155W and 160. More in line with the 155W for weight (160 lbs.), however I have never dropped below 157 in my adult life. Size 12 boots so the wider platforms preferred. Typically ride 157W to 159W, 162 on my split. 26 years of religious snowboarding experience. I guess my question is sizing up / being below the weight range on the 160 going to make this thing harder to control? Noticed you are on the upper end riding the 160. Thanks man!
Yo! so, this is a tough call. You sound super experienced and a solid boarder so I don't think you would have any issue controlling a 160. the one question I would have is what kind of terrain and snow conditions are you more likely to ride in? More all mountain with powder? 160 would probably be my vote. You mention 162 Split so you do ride backcountry in which case do you already have a good go to pow board and the new grilmaster would serve more of a resort board? If so, 155W might be more fun for that kind of cruising. I've had a few conversations with people about the 155W / 160 decision and it really comes down to what is this board mainly going to be used for.
@@marksollors Yo Mark, yeah I ride the 162 split in the backcountry. Occasionally, i'll go out with the friends that have snow machines and bring a solid, only 1-2 times a season though. The board would be for in-bounds all mountain / freeride style riding with hopefully some good powder. The type of board that I would bring on a powder day at the crested butte for some big mountain in-bounds hikable terrain. Hope this narrows it down some. Thanks man!
I think there are better boards for beginners. The Burton Stylus would be a good option. Intermediate and advanced would be better suited for Gril Master IMO
Guarantee the top sheet is junk within 2 seasons. Ive touched my toes in the burton watters every 10 years since 92 and thats always my complaint about them. Either the top sheet cracks, or just peels off

You mentioned riding the 165, how was the swing weight during spins?
Hard for me to weigh in on that. My regular two board sizes are 160 and 165 so for me there was no noticeable difference in swing weight.

why do Burton have all boards under 156 120- 180 LBS? these boards are too soft even if its an X.
Sizes goes from 155 to 160cm. I wonder why there are no 157-58 in there..
