It’s so interesting to me how closely tied the “success” of Lion King’s CGI aided the creation of Prehistoric Planet. Prehistoric planet has real accurate dinosaurs because it's a documentary, and it's amazing but it's also the main goal of the documentary: to show us the modern scientifical interpretation of dinosaurs. Jurassic is a scifi franchise that statred in the 90's and is based of book released in the 80's, it would actually be ironic if jurassic world had more accurate dinosaur than prehistoric planet, it's like saying that a nature documentary is better than the lion king because those aren't lions.

The Tyrannosaur hunting the Pachyrhinosaurus (Pack-EE-rhino-sore-us) is the Nanuqsaurus (Nah-nook-sore-us). The Deinocheirus (Die-no-ky-rus) looks awesome as well. And I really love how the Mononykus (Mon-nuh-nie-kus) looks like a barn owl, and it kind of make sense because its closest relative, Shuvuuia (Shuh-voo-ya), was discovered to have similar inner ear bones to owls and have big eyes, thus implying these animals are nocturnal. By the way, the tyrannosaur hunting these oviraptors is actually the Qianzhousaurus (Key-en-shou-sore-us).
Despite The Lion King remake, Jon Favareau is pretty based on other stuff, he worked with the MCU as Happy Hogan, voiced Pre-Visla in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and created The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett.

I love the fact that the termites are real; I love it when paleo documentaries do that.
Also, I’ve always wondered what happened with Jon Favreau’s Lion King that made it look too real, because that was made by the same team that made Disney’s “live action” Jungle Book, which didn’t have that problem. The Jungle Book still looked pretty realistic, but the animal characters still had a good amount of exaggeration in their designs, as well as visible emotions.

And the scene with the Carnotaurus waggling its arms is a reference to a speculative piece of behavior of Carnotaurus that was featured in the book called All Yesterdays by C.M. What happened with the Lion King is Jon tried to turn a cartoon animated musical about a Shakespearean tragedy into a live action documentary...with talking and sometimes singing animals. Also he hired celebrities with big names rather than voice actors. There was no way that was going to turn out well. I'm not sure why anyone thought it would.
I think Jon did the live action Jungle Book too, which was probably the most tolerable of all the Disney modern live action remakes.
I could see him having a little to do with this.
Anyways, this is exactly what dinosaurs have been needing. I loved the Walking With series.

OKAY REAL QUICK IN JON FAVEREAUS DEFENCE: Jon has done way more good movies and shows than bad please don't judge him off the Lion King remake. He has made especially good tv shows really. He created the Mandalorian and has worked every season with it, he's worked on tons of some of the best marvel movies. He is a really great producer, writer, and director.
