- There’s going off-piste and then there’s going off-piste 007 style. This sequence from THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH (1999) was filmed in Chamonix, France.
To test the special winterised cameras they were left in the British Airways refrigerator at Heathrow over night to make sure they ran and that the batteries were up to speed. Filming wrapped, five and a half days over schedule, due to heavy snow, overcast skies, diesel freezing in the trucks, and stopping for avalanche warnings. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I love Brosnan’s Bond movies. They aren’t about sullen, emo Bond, they are pure escapist fun with beautiful locations, interesting scenarios, cool weapons, and Bond saving the day. And there is the occasional serious scene between e.g. M and Bond thrown in to keep things grounded
Emo Bond? Seriously?
You fans will keep putting other Bonds down to make your favorites look better….it’s a terrible way of thinking
every bond is different, i like to think of it that way, i like them all
Brosnan is my fav Bond, but Casino Royale is my fav Bond film. Don't know why you gotta hate.
@@ninjanibba4259 You are using logical fallacy, it is a terrible way of arguing.
Gotta love the old "rip through the parachute to make the engine misfire" trick.
They forgot to dub in the Stuka dive bomber siren.
I don’t think it was misfiring I think the driver was losing control cause of the ripped shoot revving the engine to try and stay up in the air
Yeah the engine wsnt misfiring. You don't know much about them do you
Happy Birthday Pierce Brosnan! 67 years young today! What a great Bond you were!
Wish his movies kept the consistent quality of Goldeneye..
@logan lols literally just about everyone agrees Goldeneye was his best because it clearly is
Happy bday stay at home god bless
Happy belated birthday Pierce Brosnan, hope you have a great year.
@@alwaysOPEN4business I think all his Bond films were great including Die Another Day
The music when they are skiing is absolutely phenomenal!
David Arnold’s score was brilliant in the film🔥
@@ivanivez7456 absolutely
Like City Skylines' background music.
80-90s film soundtracks are some of the best 👍
Really good.
Sophie Marceau was one of the most beautiful James Bond girls.
And the most beautiful Bond Villain.
Jane Seymour and Lupe Lamorea are my favorite Bond Girls. I’m very disappointed that Lupe has vanished from DVDs that I can buy.
Izabela Skorupko!!!!
Most beautiful of them all for me 😍
Absolute godess
Bond should have realized that these guys weren't really aiming at Elektra. This chase is awesome.
His goal was to draw them away for Elektra King. Them not shooting at her was his goal. It would not appear sinister or unnatural.
@@trueblue6201 Yea but they would have been there for her not him.
@AustinMichael Yes but given his status as her shadow it would make sense for the shooters to target him so that they could hunt her at their leisure. Ignoring him would just mean he would attack them when. They were not looking. He was the bigger threat.
@@trueblue6201 Don't make excuses, it's an awfully written movie. This and Die Another Day almost turned this franchise into a b-movie Batman and Robin-esque experience.
Man this Bond Film Is Criminally Underrated as the Action sequences are some of the best and most memorable in the franchise Especially the iconic Boat Chase to open the movie
yeah, it had its moments but it unfortunately gave us the worst bond girl ever in xmas jones. ugh....
Totally Agree. Also don't understand the hate for Christmas Jones, she was a great Bond girl.

This action sequence is clumsy, logically stupid, lousy edited and filmed. The 1977 ski intro from The Spy Who Loved Me is way superior with gorgious wide shots and none of this clumsy bullshit.
When you think about it, Elektra is a great actress. She pretended to be afraid while she certainly knew what was going on.
Who knows? I mean the avalanche wasn't part of her plan surely.... She didn't know Q's tech.....
@Firemarioflower yeah, it's possible she was genuinely claustrophobic, even if she was secretly a villain
this was an intense level on N64
True. Though I still find the level where at the end you shoot down the attack helicopter the hardest. And how do you even beat the submarine level?!
HAHAHAHAHA

@@alexanderboukal5332 The submarine level is actually pretty easy (on all difficulties) once you learn your way around it

I gotta tell ya, those paramotor tech predictions did not age well...
The terrorists of Hamas.
Exactly 😂
Damn straight 😅
Ok Israel
I had this pointed out to me (shoutouts to loadingreadyrun) but at 3:50 he drops this suave quip because he assumed he'd already got that guy dead to rights, but then the second parachute deploys and his smirk vanishes instantly. Nobody was in earshot to pick up on the fact that he delivered that one-liner prematurely, but you still get the sense he's just as disappointed at the ruined comedic moment as he is at the fact that he now has to come up with another way to take the guy down.
Yeah, that was always funny to me.
These shots were way more impressive in a time before tiny drones
They’re still impressive - anyone can take a good drone shot.
This required resources and a helicopter.
Idk why but Pierce’s face change at 3:55 just cracks me up every time I see it 😂
Expression is timeless
Because for once, even if it was very short-lived, a henchman managed to outsmart Bond after the latter had pulled on of his famous one-liners by deploying that parachute. Bond was like "Oh no you didn't" and then jumped to rip that parachute.
@@NeoArashithis wouldn’t be the first time but yeah, it’s rare
Roger Moore’s Bond would have made love to Elektra in that safety cocoon.
True, but that safety cocoon would have been designed to support love making and it would have been fitted with champagne fridge.
Best comment but what's the semi-saucy punchline?
"Pure as the driven snow, sir"
Imagine how much more effective a helicopter would've been instead of these clumsy explosive ski buggies lol.
Amazing how all of them exploded as soon as they hit anything....even more amazing that a parachute with damage to the left end cells was turning RIGHT.....Sigh.
Imagine how effective it would have been to just kill james bond in the 60's. they had the chance like 100 times already. then these skibuggies could have gone unharmed.
Even villains have budgets
@@Steve98345 The glider is holding all that fuel!
imagine how much more boring and generic that would be
4:49, i love this scene. Bond just outskiid a snowmobile and cut the parachute while surviving a cliff jump, the assailants are about to crash and hes just FIDDLING WITH HIS GLOVES

Too bad Elektra is rotten inside like hell.
Shes kinda spolied and useless inside her thoughts
She's gorgeous and shame she played a baddy!!
So beautiful in that outfit.
When you realize that Elektra was actually luring Bond into an ambush the entire time they were skiing.
Why do all of the snowmobiles have to explode on impact.
Tyler Winkle it the 'Bond principle' in action.
Shit. I thought Micheal Bay directed this. Most 007 movies are cliche hollywood crap. M16 are just clowns that want to see themselves in movies. If Hollywood burned down, I wouldn't shed a tear.
All of them have engines, that's why.
Fueled by napalm
They were equipped with Star Trek exploding consoles.
The story is absolutely great. My favourite Bond movie.
Glad you love it so much! :-)
For me, this is my third favorite film of this specific Bond franchise!
Also my third favourite! Great movie
Haha! I look at my ranking and, yes, I put it No. 3 out of 24! Glad so many people love this unfairly maligned film.
How does Q Branch always manage to equip Bond with the perfect load out? Nothing ever goes unused. Every gadget always seems to get used as intended. The most superfluous thing Bond ever seems to carry is some extra ammo.
the q division cooperates closely with the clairvoyance division
Cept bonds car in goldeneye
This is the exact thing Roger Ebert once pointed out on Siskel & Ebert. Though the sly smile on his face when he said it showed he liked that plot device.
Yeah he never used the stinger missiles under the headlights, what was it? A BMW Z4?
They consult with Alfred Pennyworth on what to pack.
Dude this film and Tomorrow never dies are my two favorite Bond films. I love other ones but these two are my favorite. Brosnan was James when I was growing up so his films were actually the first Bond film I saw ever in theaters. It was Tomorrow Never Dies. Ever since then I’ve loved these films. Plus the N64 Goldeneye helped a lot too for Brosnan. Everybody forgets Tomorrow Never Dies
OHMSS was the first I saw.Die Another Day was the first I saw in theaters. As much flak as that movie gets, I've watched it more than once, which I can't say for the Craig films.
@@aaroniousairlines9949 Exactly!
Kinda happened today with Gaza.
I gotta tell ya, those paramotor tech predictions did not age well
Connery and brosnan the best bond characters ever
Agreed
When the henchmen are trained by stormtroopers, there’s no need to panic.
Without even watching the clip in my head I just said "see you back at the lodge"
The same words came into my head.
This scene kinda reminds me of OHMSS - especially the score.
I agree.
I get the feeling it was intentional, to try and imply that Bond is seeing some similarities with Elektra and Tracy and falling for her in a similar way
R4- P17 I said some similarities, I didn’t say they were exactly the same
@R4-P17 No because she was knocked out and dragged away by hench men , lol
I don't know why people criticise this movie so much. I myself enjoyed it.
this is absurdly underrated. my favourite. everything is perfect
I think it's mostly due to the plot being rather unoriginal to an extent and Denise Richards' rather wooden performance (Elektra Knight was a lot better tbh). But the action scenes are fun to watch and Pierce Brosnan as ever delivers a fine performance. Still I would rather watch this film over Die Another Day, A View To Kill, Octopussy, Diamonds Are Forever or even Spectre that's for sure.
The World Is Not Enough promised a lot but never quite delivered. It's polished and looks good but something is missing.
The Best Bond film ever in my opinion🔥
I always liked this actor. He's frequently made feebly scripted film watchable.
i actually agree with this statement, terrible movies, but ok to watch
GoldenEye is a great one.
The rest of the Brosnan movies are disappointing, to put it mildly.
@@anen9332 even Goldeneye hasn't aged very well. I think people have high nostalgia for the videogame, which is what elevates the movie. Even the videogame hasn't aged well in my opinion. I used to love both the movie and game.
@@jstdun I very much disagree with you as far as the film.
I think it's a fantastically constructed piece of postmodernism that rivals On Her Majesty's Secret Service as a deconstruction and reconsideration of Bond.
This argument itself -- that GoldenEye is only praised because of nostalgia and a link to an N64 game -- is becoming tired and retro, as I've heard it since at least 2010. It's little more than a meme-posing-as-thesis.
As far as the N64 game, you appear to have it backwards: you state that "even [the game]" has aged poorly, yet film is a far more sophisticated and age-resistent medium than 90s video games. The idea that the game, in your wording and overall argument, leads in quality and resistance to the rigors of time is telling.
Though it does point to a bit of bias: you seem to personally have conflated the game with the film.
I appreciate and see the value of GoldenEye as a film -- how scenes play, what shots are used and why, music cues, thematic and psychological construction within these levels, etc. -- while you seem to see an N64 cart as the only (false) justification for someone appreciating the film. I'd say that we come at it from polar opposite viewpoints, and that you appear to be dismissing the film by way of shifting feelings towards the game; thus, you think that your nostalgia is everyone's nostalgia. That's not the case.
From the standpoint of both thematics and overall mis en scene, I'd defend GoldenEye as one of the great Bond films.
It remains a disappointment that the rest of the Brosnan movies did so little by comparison.
The mime's daughter was a very beautiful lady and a great actress in this. I like the chase and Pierce Brosnan as Bond. All the Bond movies he did were great. Thanx for posting this.
No actor can touch Pierce Brosnan as Bond. His puns are great and his dark hair and blue eyes are dreamy. Bring him back as an older Bond. I will watch
every one.
I think Pierce Brosnan was the best James bond so far 👑❤
Elektra king is my favourite ever character in James Bond
The best Bond ever.
Everyone who played this part on the N64 game “Cold Reception” and had it on 00 Agent knows this mission is so irritating..
Makes sense tree's, snow and more trees
I used to love shooting the parachutes and watching the snowmobiles nose dive into the ground
@@tony_anello it took so long to beat it on 00 agent man you don’t even know. I got stuck on the 3rd to last mission where you chase the guy with the chain it’s so irritating how it’s timed
Actually the N64 version is the best, most accurate and most fun one. Try to play the PS1 version of this mission and you'll see how difficult and nonsense it is lol

That inflatable jacket definitely came in handy to protect from avalanche damage just like mentioned in the video game

"casually takes gloves off". Too easy!
So wait, if Bond didn’t say “I’ve always wanted to check the survey lines”, Elektra was just going to ski through the middle of nowhere by herself?

What is even more amazing is the lack of avalanches from all these explosions.
Avalanches don't happen on flat slopes.

Happy birthday Pierce Brosnan!
There must be some storm trooper school out there for villains of movies and tv shows ...man the amount of missed shots really is incredible
I adored the late 90s Bond movies
Gosh the freaking ski jacket. Lol. Probably the most outlandish and ridiculously specific “gadget” in the series. Used for that one off-chance the exact convenient thing will happen to him that it’s made for
Like in that stupid Batman movie where their boots turn into ice skates.
I mean, if you go skiing an avalanche is the one natural hazard that can happen...
Why not prepare for an avalanche what
@@KittyGamingYT Because when he was presented the gadget jacket he was on the inactive roster and there was never any plans in the plot yet for him to go randomly skiing and risk an avalanche of all things. Two gadgets: car and jacket. Lol

The last proper skiing sequence in a Bond film so far
Unless you count Craig using a plane to ski downhill in “Spectre”
Meh, I thought it was dumb. Parachuting snowmobiles with baddies that can't hit anything? lol
Spectre started great but turned out to be rubbish! My 2nd worst Bond film of all time.
They don't even ski like that nowadays.
When the gadgets shown off from the beginning is being used in a later scene it was always so nice to see them in action. Not like today's modern Bond movies where the gadgets just really aren't all there or do cool things with them. No Magnetic Watch, or Watch Laser cutter, or even Grenade Pens. It's like all gadget ideas were thrown out the window, that's not to say Daniel Craig is a bad Bond version of the character, it's the fact that it doesn't have the same finesse that older bond movies had when they had all sorts of cool gadgets at his disposal, and the cars that were specially equipped with all sorts of functions and features built-in. Peak bond gadgets was when Bond could use his Nokia phone to Remote Drive his car around.
