Luckily this turned out OK... the marks came off and I fixed the big chip. Phew. Full review of this amazing guitar: czcams.com/video/Pfk5MY_GnBs/video.html
Pro tip: Never mark a package as "fragile." It becomes a challenge to the a**holes that will handle it. Beautiful guitar though. It's a shame that happened. Glad you got it patched up. 👍
That really doesn't look like the kind of damage that would've happened inside a padded gig bag. The chip didn't even go all the way to the point on the headstock, which is where a chip from impact should've originated. I think the seller did you dirty and it already had this damage when they packed it.
I thought so too at the time. I actually looked inside the gig bag after the video and the bits of the lacquer were there. C'est la vie. It all worked out in the end. Keep rockin'
Im glad things turned out, Ok. You shouldn't have had to experience this on unpacking. The seller should have been transparent. The chip is easily fixed, but were you able to match the lacquer? Congrats on you purchase.
Thanks very much! Yes, it all turned out ok. The chip happened in transit as it turns out. I had a look in the gig back after recording this and the missing bits of lacquer were in pieces at the bottom. It was a bit horrible! The seller was awesome anyway and gave me a discount rather than sending it back. I managed to fix it quite well. I layered up with nail polish having tried a lot of other paints first...! Nail polish has got a nitro base so thought I would try and it looks great. It's black so that's the easiest colour to match. I do need to sand it back a bit and go over it again to make it completely seamless, but it looks very good already and matches the paint. It just takes a bit of patience, and I want good weather again as it smells doing it inside lol - my wife was not to happy and told me off for a) using up her cosmetics b) stinking the house up lol. Overall it's just a fantastic guitar and it would have been heart breaking to return it. In the end, a very happy result!
Maybe buy it from the shop you demoed the guitar at that made you decide to buy it? Sorry, I'm in retail and really hate when customers come in, pick my brain for info, get a demo, and then put zero value in that and buy online.
Very fair comment. I should have made it clear, but I buy lots of guitars from my local shops and have done for many years. Nothing beats buying from your local - mine are super nice and give good deals and after service. In my journey to this one, I've bought a bunch of other guitars, mostly from them - and that will continue. This particular one was too good a deal to pass up, so good that I did question it, but I took a leap of faith. I think this video is a perfect example to push people to buy from bricks and mortar. I certainly won't be buying many online again for a while. Way too stressful if something goes wrong.
@@appetiteforguitar Fair enough. I do understand that you can't always buy locally. At least it's not your typical buying process. Where I went to college the local shop would allow me to go in and service my guitar with his equipment and tools. I bought everything from him so he didn't mind. It was also a place where we could just hang out and try stuff. He was one of the first Travis Bean dealers in the country (Yes, I'm that old). I remember the day he got his first delivery and he spread the word so we all could come in and try it. Not just to sell it but because he wanted to show us something cool. Which, at the time, Travis Beans were definitely cool.
