Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the Opposition for staging a walkout from the Rajya Sabha during his address on July 3. PM Modi said, "They are running away because they can't hear the truth". The Congress-led INDIA bloc parties left the Upper House of Parliament after Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge was denied the opportunity to speak. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar condemned the walkout, calling it an insult to the Constitution. PM Modi also raised the issue of the Bengal flogging incident, accusing the Opposition leaders of having a selective attitude towards atrocities against women. PM Modi further said "It is painful. I am not scoring points, but I saw a video of a woman being beaten up publicly in Bengal. That sister is screaming, but no one is coming to help her. What happened in Sandeshkhali was gruesome. Even those who see themselves as progressive female leaders are tongue-tied. Their politics is selective".
