I have literally thought 5 hundred year diary was a 3 mana card since I got it. I cast it for three at the lgs today before watching this! I feel like I lived in a different reality
Having now recreated the entire game in my head, I honestly don’t think it matters
I know it would hike the cost of the show considerably in terms of money, editing time, and flow of the gameplay, but would it be possible for you guys to hire a judge to catch gameplay mistakes? I have watched more than one game where misplays happen and I don't feel like watching the rest of the video because it irks me so much.
@SacredMagic13679 Have you ever played commander? You're playing it wrong if no one in your pod makes a mistake or misreads a card. Besides, it's a casual game, just let it slide, it really isn't that deep.
I did the exact same thing. Swore it was 3 mana until I checked my binder last week.
@SacredMagic13679 doing all that just for one person seems kind of selfish, besides as mentioned before, these kind of things happen all the time in commander. The point of the game is to have fun, not be perfect, if it was really that important one of the other people at the table probably would've called it out.

Law Above is a lot of fun. I just finished mine. Getting to play all the cool Boros cards and just never running out of action is sweet.
Got to shout out Blake for best player at the table. Getting a bunch of set up only to get shut down, then taking lethal like a champ, you are a wonderful example to us all. Not sure I could have kept my cool like that. Enjoy your post-mortem pipe!

Then Shea simply doesn't block Anzrag and the turn ends. Exerting incentivizes the block and that's a wrath.
@@Kestral287 at 37:00 Anzrag's 7 mana ability was activated, he must be blocked each combat. She doesnt have a choice.
You guys have a really wonderful group dynamic. You help each other with triggers, entertain with banter and come back to play again and again. A real testament to the casual commander format. Thank you for sharing your truly epic decks, turns, blunders and selves with us.

If you can make it to where ALL creatures have to block the mole and give it indestructible. It's best to stack all of the combat damage on one blocker. Making a lot more extra combat triggers and making your other creatures unblockable on that player.
By far the best commander show!! I really appreciate all the hard work and funny moments!

I'm going to learn Austin Powers's entire "mole" monologue from Goldmember, so I can break it out against every player that runs Anzrag for the next couple months.
Just realized, during the turn where the mole kept attack until every creature was dead, if one of the blocking creatures was indestructable, wouldnt the game just be in a infinite loop?
No for two reasons. 1. If there is another creature that can attack damage is being dealt. 2. If Angraz is the only one attacking the attacker is forced to choose not to attack to break the loop.
That unmistakable look when you found the key to sealing the game. Hate to see it on your opponents face though 😅

"Whenever a player attacks with two or more creatures, that player draws a card if none of those creatures attacked you". There. You're also included without needing a special line mentioning "another player".
It's written the way it is to make it easier to parse. Fewer words doesn't make it an inherently better phrasing.
It's an absolute travesty that Blake the Quake didn't play the Quake Mole, I'm just sayin': missed opportunity! That being said, I do fondly recall running Blake over with Hero of Bladehold back in Innistrad Format.
I too recently discovered just how obnoxious Anzrag is when facing it earlier this week. My poor Eriette deck couldn’t drain the player’s life fast enough 😭

There's a step after damage is dealt that she can pull them.

The Quake mole for what ive seen others playing is a busted card that has to be dealt with almost every rotation...so good job on controlling him or i think Ben had the win
How does Roar of Challenge cause multiple combats? Shouldn't it just be just one player?
The attacker gets to assign damage from attacking creatures however they want. This includes throwing more damage on a creature than they have toughness. Roar of challenge therefore allows for at minimum one combat per creature if you are stacking all 8 power on one defending creature or a few more if you can stack 8 damage on their board without killing anything. You can also set up infinite combat steps with roar of challenge by playing a fog effect.

Great game! Correct me if I'm wrong though, shouldn't both CGB's Diary and Blake's Archaeologist have been uncastable when they were played because they're Legendary?
What would have prevented them from casting Legendary spells?
All the supertype "Legendary" means is that no player can control more than one permanent with the same name and the "Legend" supertype at any one time. It's a state-based action that forces the player to sacrifice all but one permanent with a single name and the Legend supertype (which no player has priority to respond to, as state-based actions don't use the stack and cannot be responded to).
@@isaiahwelch8066 Legendary instants and sorceries can only be cast if you control a legendary permanent when you cast it. I thought it was the same for legendary artifacts and enchantments
@@privettk : No. Artifacts and enchantments that are legendary don't need another legendary permanent on the battlefield to be cast.
Edit: Interestingly, instants and sorceries have a casting restriction permanents do not.
However, an artifact from original Kamigawa block, Mirror Gallery, literally says, "The Legend Rule doesn't apply." This would, I suspect, actually change legendary instants and sorceries to being able to cast them per normal casting rules, since you would no longer need to control a legendary creature or planeswalker to cast a legendary instant or sorcery.

I've watched a couple of commander gameplay videos now with anzrag the quake mole. And honestly it plays boring and it's always controlling. Isn't it just the grull version of tergrid. Undercosted overpowered ability on a commander plus their both gods
God watching CGB on UW control is the least fun this channel ever is.
