@@Todd_Kobell damn that’s crazy. I didn’t know they took me off grill, sauté, and expo. Thanks for letting me know. I’ll let my kitchen manager know that the her method of cutting tomatoes is in fact slower than cutting them one by one. If you don’t know what your talking about, please pipe down
Used to do this all the time when I work at a Neapolitan Pizzeria. The amount of prep time I saved was insurmountable thanks for showing others this trick!
Tbh i cant be bothered with extra lids that i need to clean up afterwards. I normally tend to use maybe 1-2 handful of cherry tomatoes anyways. Best tool for amateur cooks to save some time & get restaurant quality cuts is hands down the mandoline (unless you want to cut tomatoes). Very versatile, fast even cuts. Only downside is that its probably also the most dangerous tool in the kitchen.
it takes two seconds to do this, and to clean the lids not sure why you wouldn't want to clean something that takes less time then doing it less efficient lmao
Most people probably yes, but this is a good old trick in the kitchen I’ve been doing for the last 10 years. Won’t work with a dull blade by the way. 😊
Josh, I've just been putting them on my cutting board and slamming my knife down. Sometimes you get like a 1/4 or 1/8 cut but I like to think it adds character.
Used to do something similar at Arby's. We needed to cut a ton of grapes for a days worth of chicken salad. Only difference is that we used much larger lids
Since I’m rarely cooking in large batches I like to take my time and relax while I prepare a meal. This is a great hack if I’m ever preparing for a party. 😊
I saw a chef do this 15 years ago, and it has been my secret ever since.

I love that your shorts aren't just clips from your longer videos, but you genuinely compose these smaller videos as tips.
That tip is actually fire.
Most cooks are paid by the hour tho
cutting cherry tomatoes individually is the closest thing I have to inner peace

It's not often that you see a useful food tip that actually changes the game like this, cheers.
"blend in them veggies smooth as my edges"
good food recipes with a side of funny 🤣🙌🏾 best of both worlds
My brain just exploded. That's genius.
I love these. Please keep sharing more tricks
You, my good man, have just changed my life!
I can’t believe, the first one of these shorts to actually save time rather than costing me time. I’m impressed
I got your cookbook, which I love, and I made the tuna sandwich. It was just delicious. I am slowly working my way through it.
I remember that was one of the trick I was taught by the chef at the restaurant I used to work at. That man has saved me so much time.
Cameraman:my goals are beyond your understanding
Whoever came with this originally is an actual genius
I just let out a gasp after seeing this lol. It's the little things in life that matter, thanks for sharing! 😊

Same. Hacks for cooking for 10 are hugely different than cooking for 1-2.
2 lids....and their deli lids...it takes like 10 seconds to clean but ok. I'd rather clean lids than a mandolin.

That’s what I did wrong, I need another lid on the bottom!

Rachel Ray invented this technique almost two decades ago.

how flat are your dinner plates damn
Thanks. Most basic tip in history of cooking
Josh. I expect more from you. All cherry tomatoes must be cut from the middle of the stem point. You know that.
