lol that "nasty" stuff is called "butyl" and it's a common automotive adhesive. On some cars it's used to seal windows. As you've seen it's commonly used in doors as a seal against the water that enters the door. If you want to buy some try 3M Windo-Weld Round Ribbon Sealer, 08610. P.S. It might not surprise you that food grade butyl is used to make bubble gum! Also, that rubbery material around the outside of the speaker that used to be made of foam is now made of ... butyl.

Putting sound deadening inside the door makes a huge difference in your speaker sound quality! One of the best things I've done to my NB. I think the NC is built a little bit stiffer all around so maybe not as much of a difference, NB doors are like tin cans but im sure you'll be happy with the improvement

It was my first time using sound deadening. I was kind of skeptical about it at first but it actually did make a noticeable improvement. I've still got a bit of a buzz at certain bass frequencies. It sounds like the plastic door card vibrating against something. I'm going to try putting closed cell foam along the inside of the door card to see if that helps. 😊

Are you in Japan? I looks like Japan and then I saw the newspaper! Secondly, what did you do to repair it? Did you replace the part? Paint it? Cover it with vinyl? Seems like a second video begging to be made? Thanks for doing this my NC1 needs this to be done. Just not sure what the fix is to keep it from happening again.

Hello Yoshi! Thank you for watching my video!
Yes, I'm in Japan. I'm based in Nagoya. I replaced the quarter glass frame with a brand new part. :)
To problem is the coating used on the part is very thin. It's quite easily worn away by weather. You could give it a good sanding and repaint it with a few more coats.
Or, you can do the same thing as me and replace it with a brand new part. If you buy the new part online, it costs about 5000 yen for each side.
      All the best!

Often times those plastic pieces are used to seal the air space in the door for the side impact sensor, so you’ll want to make sure that it is sealed when it is put back on.

Thank you David! Fortunately, I did put them back the way they were when I put everything back together. :)

I was going to do this but for 80 dollars per door, I’ll live with it haha.

You could also sand and repaint them for much less. 😊

I got mine from my local Mazda dealership. 😊
You might also be able to find them online. The part numbers are in the description. Try a search with those part numbers. 😊 👍
