Thanks for the info, I have this same reel that I need to do some work on. Any idea what may be causing this issue, when you engage the thumb switch and go to turn the reel handle it will not engage or unlock the thumb switch back to the locked position. Basically push thumb switch to cast, cast, turn reel handle and it doesn't snap back, you have to press and wiggle the handle to get it to engage. Any help would be appreciated.

BTW, I just remembered the reel comes with a plastic spacer that goes underneath the baitcaster reel seat. Simply put that in may fix your problem. I have this problem long time ago with one of my other stick and the spacer fix it.

It happened when I paired it with the 13Fishing Envy rod too, the spacer fixed the problem.

Another thing to consider about this reel and alot of other Shimano baitcaster is that you drag should be dail forward and "On", to allow some pressure to the gear to enable the thumb switch to pop back up. Often when testing the star drag is loose not allowing a clean direct "trip" up from the spring from the cam. So set your drag with some pressure and you'll notice it will engage evertime. But yes, that spacer makes a huge difference as well

I have this same reel. Love it to much to replace. It is in need of repair. Bearings are sounding rough. It's there a way to grease or better to replace?

ShoGunn Of HarLem you can replace the bearings. U just have to get the measurements and order new ones.
