The sad part is that Russia created via reeducation, after Yalta, a New Man all over occupied Europe, and this persists in the mind of people. In Romania nowadays people behave in Bolshevik style, as the system of education was imposed so. But with the involvement of the Americans in region, maybe a democratic system could be established in Soviet countries like Romania, where the ex KGB agents lead the country.

In the 70's I worked with a Polish gentleman who had served in the army during WW2.
He never talked about what he had been through during the war, but he was always very servitude in addressing people.
I remember advise which he gave to me a number of times "Never trust a Russian" and he would repeat it "Never trust a Russian" to make sure you got the message.
He passed away a long time ago, but his advise rings true especially today.
Yes I found that out the hard way. Was stabbed in the back at work by a Russian guy that I was always respectful and friendly with. He basically got me fired which turned out fine because I got a better job. Still don't know why he did it. They can't be trusted for sure.

My "favorite" thing about Russian takes is the total lack of interest in being consistent. For example, after Bucha Putin said it was all faked, while at UN Russia was demanding investigation into the mass murder committed by Ukrainian nazis. Once you see that, it's impossible to take them seriously anymore, because you know they'll literally say anything for a short-term advantage. But I guess it serves the purpose of spreading confusion, and there are people (in Russia and elsewhere) that for whatever reason want to believe Kremlin. They latch onto the arguments that make sense to them, and ignore the rest.
Being inconsistent is actual part of the act, if they are consistent people will ignore them but being inconsistent and constantly muddying the water makes people question everything, even blatantly true things.

You're definitely onto something there. It was the same with the shelling of the mall in Kremenchuck. 3 Different Russian sources provided different reasons for it and finally the blame was shifted to the Ukrainian army.
The idea of Russian misinformation and inconcistency is to saturate the infosphere with a confusing cesspool of claims in the hopes that no one knows anymore what is true and what is not.

And then they learned it wasn't even close to the truth and wouldn't become so in the near future so they had to delete it again. There is nothing factual in Russian media these days.
My favorite is Lavrov's speech regarding the bombing of the Kremenchuk shopping center on Monday 27th at 2:00 p.m., which turned into a bombing of a hangar containing weapons, at night and without people. This time the magic was Russian!

I saw a video where a Russian commentator was debated by an Italian fellow. The Russian spouted his lies and then the Italian destroyed the Russian narrative. The look on the Russian's face was priceless. He had obviously never even considered the actual truth and when he was hit with it, he went numb.

I no longer take my good fortune for granted. I was born in the US and have come to realize just what a unique privilege I was blessed with when my ancestors immigrated to this land.
We have no real enemies on our borders, two giant motes called oceans, plenty of great farm land, resources to build most anything we need, military strength to keep it secure and inherent wealth to look after ourselves well into the future. Our political system is still intact although we do have issues, but we don't have a strong murderous regime hell bent on destroying any and everything that disagrees with those in power.

As an American, I never realized how crucially important freedom of the press is until I was exposed to the Russian press during the Ukrainian war. It's amazing. Just had no idea how good I have it. Now I understand how/why it's one of the first constitutional rights. 🇺🇲🇺🇦
Free press is important for all kinds of weird things. Amartya Sen did Nobel prize winning research on deadly famines. One of the key findings was that freedom of press was one of the most important factors for preventing famines from escalating to that level. There are a lot of dynamics at play there and I won't go deeper here, but the study is well worth reading.

These videos are great. I started reading what little I can of the Russian Defense Ministry's press releases and I think they just tell so many lies in hopes of people believing one of them. They're like fantasy short stories. No doubt this is why they are trying to switch over TV broadcasts to Russian as soon as possible in Kherson.
