Justin's the best, man. He taught me so much. I picked up guitar again a few years ago. I used to play in high school but information was so scarce it was hard for me to figure anything out. With the advent of CZcams, it's only a matter of dedication. The information is at our fingertips thanks to Justin and many other teachers who make content. Justin's one of, if not THE, best teachers. He goes into so much detail and tries to put things in layman's terms which makes it accessible to anyone.

Well, how did you know I’d been wondering how to do some percussive strumming? I love how you break down techniques in bite size chunks and provide us with both drills to practice and a nice tune we can use to show off what we have learned. You are a brilliant teacher and always manage to inspire me. Thanks for making guitar playing accessible to many by making so much of your content freely available.

Although I'm and old git new player I found this quite easy and it helped me to count the beats in a bar, so I play it either every 4th beat or every 8th beat (2 x 4) , by using this method I actually managed to make up my own wee tune which I use to practice, however I do find it very hard to use the plectrum on the up and down strokes, down is easy but to come back up the plectrum moves around in my fingers and falls out.

This lesson is pure gold. Showing it from just the right angle and breaking it down so clearly made me figure it out really fast. I even managed to do the strumming pattern with the upstums after just a couple minutes of practice. But the longest I can keep it going is 3 bars. This kind of strumming really makes the pick move around in my grip, and doing the percussive strum with a mispositioned pick is hard (and sometimes, even if I make it happen, I scrape my index finger on the strings). I gues I should practice it really slowly and pay attention to my pick grip?

Now I understand this technique a lot more! I’m a fairly experienced ‘silver haired advanced beginner’ but have shied away from songs using this technique! I have been trying to get the snare sound from the palm because I’ve understood that’s what CZcams tutors have been demonstrating? However, the later brake downs of your tutorial show the palm muting the strings (which I already got!) followed by the pick or finger strumming the muted strings and therefore making the snare sound - now I have it! Massive thank you

oh these are part of Justin's new 2020 beginner course he saw a "need" (not saying its bad) to update the course and with covid it was just a good time to work on it, he mentioned it in an interview somewhere. its basically technique based and he would assign "homework" (like a pattern, a song, riff, and/or lick)
edit- the 2020 stuff is a different beginner course its like a part 2 of technical stuff
