When practising this technique, always remember: 'I stand right next to a mountain / And chop it down with the edge of my hand'.

So nice sorry can you give me your contact so we can communicate on whatsap
The most complete guitar teacher out there, hands down- not just 'how to', but 'how to HAVE FUN doing this'. You rock, much appreciated.
thank you very much!
Justin's the best, man. He taught me so much. I picked up guitar again a few years ago. I used to play in high school but information was so scarce it was hard for me to figure anything out. With the advent of CZcams, it's only a matter of dedication. The information is at our fingertips thanks to Justin and many other teachers who make content. Justin's one of, if not THE, best teachers. He goes into so much detail and tries to put things in layman's terms which makes it accessible to anyone.
I picked up a guitar in early 2020. Oh why oh why didn't I pick it up sooner. You taught me.
The best video I’ve seen to explain the process of palm muting! Thank you ☺️
Love how Marcus Aurelius is chilling in background
Your lessons give me this time of forgetting whatever problems I might have, and enjoy the sound of guitar! Thank you, Justin
I’m 3 month into the lesson, learning zombie and house of rising sun.
Amazing. Finally I found someone who explained it perfectly with great angles! Subscribed right away.
Well, how did you know I’d been wondering how to do some percussive strumming? I love how you break down techniques in bite size chunks and provide us with both drills to practice and a nice tune we can use to show off what we have learned. You are a brilliant teacher and always manage to inspire me. Thanks for making guitar playing accessible to many by making so much of your content freely available.
I have your book Beginner's songbook, but only now seeing your video I realise you speak neurodivergent! I'm so used to not understanding a **** from teachers that this was a very pleasent surprise. Thank you @justinguitar ❤
A masterclass Justin. I have your books and they have been the foundation of my guitar journey, thanks a bunch. Cheers
I am 61 years old and 7 years ago , i started watching your videos on how to play guitar. Im not brilliant just intermedate. So thank you. George hails
It makes such a difference, thanks a great lesson.
I learnt almost 10 songs in just 1 week
with the help of your video sir. 😍
Love from Tamil Nadu 😘
Although I'm and old git new player I found this quite easy and it helped me to count the beats in a bar, so I play it either every 4th beat or every 8th beat (2 x 4) , by using this method I actually managed to make up my own wee tune which I use to practice, however I do find it very hard to use the plectrum on the up and down strokes, down is easy but to come back up the plectrum moves around in my fingers and falls out.
Great lesson. Never noticed the reflection as I was concentrating on your strumming!!
Justin you are a LEGEND of a teacher. I have been struggling with this technique yet wanting to get it right for ages. 15 mins watching you on this video and I immediately correct my technique. I will soon be very much enjoying this technique in my songs ! Best teacher on CZcams ! thanks so much.
Totally agree with the feel as exemplified by the song "Stuck in the middle with you."
This is the best single guitar lesson I've ever had! Wow Justin Thankyou!
NOW I get it! Another great Justin Lesson. Easy to understand, terrific detailed explanation with perfect camera angles. Thank you Justin!
Hi Justin, one of your best videos ever ! It brings a lot ! Greetings from Germany
Man old habits are hard to break!! I’ve never kept my hand moving while strumming and brother the struggle is real trying to keep that hand a wrist going and not hit the strings 😂😂 I’m starting to get it thanks to the help from your videos! ✌️
I've known how to do this for many many years but I enjoyed a watching the way you do it thank you
At first I thought this was impossible but after a few days Im getting the hang of it. I still gotta practice on the right technique though but at the moment i find it easier to strum with my index instead of my thumb so my palm stays in the right spot
Hi Justin, just picking up the guitar- I am a complete beginner - I love your approach and teaching - so different and gentle!
Thank you- you have a new fan!
This lesson is pure gold. Showing it from just the right angle and breaking it down so clearly made me figure it out really fast. I even managed to do the strumming pattern with the upstums after just a couple minutes of practice. But the longest I can keep it going is 3 bars. This kind of strumming really makes the pick move around in my grip, and doing the percussive strum with a mispositioned pick is hard (and sometimes, even if I make it happen, I scrape my index finger on the strings). I gues I should practice it really slowly and pay attention to my pick grip?
Thank you I've been trying to do this and have been struggling. I'll work with this video :)
Another marvelous lesson. Justin, you have got to be the best guitar instructor on the internet. Thank you.
Thank you Cesar! Happy Holidays! :)
🙋Justin, Your a wonderful instructor! I'm having fun already!
Love this... Solved all the mysteries....
Great lesson. I've been wanting to learn this technique for a long time. Very good explanation on how to do it and easy to understand. Thanks...
Thank you, thank you. I have been trying without luck to get a palm down for weeks. I opened this lesson and you said "FLICK" - all good now. Merci.
Really great lesson, Justin - many thanks for so many useful hints! (especially about the palm muting technique and sequencing the moves). Definitely in my top 5 on strumming at YT.
Now I understand this technique a lot more! I’m a fairly experienced ‘silver haired advanced beginner’ but have shied away from songs using this technique! I have been trying to get the snare sound from the palm because I’ve understood that’s what CZcams tutors have been demonstrating? However, the later brake downs of your tutorial show the palm muting the strings (which I already got!) followed by the pick or finger strumming the muted strings and therefore making the snare sound - now I have it! Massive thank you
Excellent, just what I was looking forward. 👍🏻😎👊🏻
We have Justinguitar in this planet, what's a gift! ..
Your lessons are absolutely wonderful....Thank you so much for your dedication to sharing excellent ideas.
You’re an excellent teacher Justin! Thank you and keep up the great work!
You give a really good lesson, the procusssive strum is something that I really want to learn and have made a few unsuccessful runs at already. Ha ha, I hadn’t even noticed the glare until you captioned it✌️
Hi Justin, Your tutorials are absolutely brilliant. Thanks for the lessons.
Thank you! This was a mystery to me. I'll start doing this in my practice sessions and see how it goes.
Excellent lesson and a really handy rhythm strumming technique. Did the video. Started a little practice with it. Was a bit hit and miss at first; but surprisingly quickly I started to get it. Next thing I knew I found myself putting it to perfect use playing The Beatles Two of Us. Such a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Carry on and many thanks!
So useful a lesson, as always. Thanks, Justin.
Great lesson by the best instructor. Really loving this. Thank you.

Thank you very much Justin. Great lesson - I have tried this for ages and now your break-down makes it so clear. I struggle with the pick so is just the thumb OK for the strumming?

Best teacher in CZcams
Hi Justin! I'm having a hard time finding this video on your website (I like figuring out where it fits into the learning path).
Please consider adding that to your description! :) Thanks for all the great lessons.
i agree with this. I do the same thing. Hard to find them so I know where they are in the lesson.
I find them all on his utube channel
oh these are part of Justin's new 2020 beginner course he saw a "need" (not saying its bad) to update the course and with covid it was just a good time to work on it, he mentioned it in an interview somewhere. its basically technique based and he would assign "homework" (like a pattern, a song, riff, and/or lick)
edit- the 2020 stuff is a different beginner course its like a part 2 of technical stuff
