- This how we built a freestanding screened in pergola that is basically an addition to our house without actually attaching to the house!
Huge thank you to Onduline North America us.onduline.com/en/diy for supplying the Ondura Premium Panels and the Ondura Tuftex panels for this amazing pergola build and for their continued support of the @DIYTyler Channel. You can find all about their products using the links below and check them out at your local Lowes store.

This fully covered pergola is amazing! It sits on top of our composite deck and cantilevers over the roof of the house so we were able to add a screened in 3 seasons room to our house without actually cutting into the roof and framing into the house. Some may ask how we will replace the roof when the time comes and that's a great questions! I don't really know but we just had this roof replaced so we will cross that bridge when the time comes if we are even here anymore!

Hi there to all you first time viewers! We hope you enjoy the video. Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss out on the final video coming shortly!
What material did you use for the interior wall?
@@jeromelindsay3144 qqqqqqqqqqqqqqq
If I have someone look at this video they should be able to build this for me💪🏼😝? What do u think the cost?
you might want to put tape on the siding first,
Yes agreed the sheer strength of screws is not what people they are, for example for joist hangers that's why you use specific nails because of there sheer strength, but what do I know
Love that you had your son involved and showed how to do things safely! This is creating amazing memories. My husband got to do the same thing with his grandpa as a kid. When we were dating and we visited his grandparents' house, he pointed out the gazebo in the backyard and excitedly told me he helped his grandpa build it. Your son is going to do that one day!
Sir! I think you did a very AWESOME Job! I been trying to get a patio cover now for over 20 years! One day I’ll be blessed!! My dream will be come a reality! Your hands are blessed!
The fact that your wife and son helped must make that build more satisfying and enjoyable
Yes! My husband and I are going to roof part of our deck. He wants to do exactly this... not attach to the house. Yay! Going to show him this! And tell your wife I feel her! I'm almost 70 and he still has me climbing ladders, screwing deck boards and holding beams!
you sound like an airline pilot. And include every single possible detail of your products and techniques. WOW!
I love how much time, knowledge and patience when you build everything vs. the shoddy work whoever built the original deck and pergola - just shows that quality > quickly done work. :)
I love the way you keep the project moving forward with little adjustments here and there. That’s how I do it and your end result looks fantastic. I used to bog down in overthinking every little detail and realized you get to enjoy your work sooner by keeping the process going like you do. Great work brother!
I have been trying to come up with an idea for my porch! Bingo !!!!! What a fantastic job you and your family should be proud of the outcome. It is truly awesome !!!!!
Two thumbs up. I was trying to come up with something for my deck and you’ve given me a lot of ideas. Now, if only ONDURA would sponsor my deck enclosure build...
Your wife is so lucky to have a carpenter husband. Good job.
Louanna you are looking fine
He lucky to have a helper wife! I’m amazed that she did all that in a skirt and flip-flops.
He’s lucky enough to have a wife who is a carpenter in a skirt and flip flops to do half of the work!!
I think a working wife that can drill, climb ladders, hold 2x4s,2x6s and more without fussing is a blessing to her husband.
@@WorkingEveryDay Without fussing? Cameras come with a muting function. 😆
You are outstanding Mr. That is all I can say. And the lady helping is just terrific. Loved your screen in porch.
I love that the animals are helping you out!!
This is a wonderful build I bet your wife loves it . When I was young my Dad was building beams for our ceiling he cut a board and the end dropped off and landed on our chuwawas paw and broke it. It was so sad she screamed and cried for an hour the vet took care of it but I never forgot that. I can see how you love your pets so please be careful. I also think it’s great how you get your son involved you can be proud.
Absolutely love the detailed instructions on your beautiful porch with your family❤❤
This is exactly what I was looking to do as far as a cover on existing deck but not attached to house, Thank you for posting!
Thanks for watching everyone! Have a great long weekend!🎉🎈
What drone are you using?
Looks great. Enjoy your weekend as well
Enjoy the holiday with the family
Thank you for this beautiful porch. I have immensely enjoyed our evenings together without mosquitoes, and morning coffee in the quiet hours, and afternoon breaks watching the kids play on the world's greatest swing set....
I love it🥰
Have a dji mini2. Great fun!
I’ve got 20 minutes later to watch this masterful build. Skimmed it and subbed! 💪
I love it, even more looking that family help you holding stuff around👏🏽
This is what I want off the deck at my house. Amazing job!!!
Me too!
Wow, fantastic job and watching your channel for the 1st time from the UK, I'm very envious of the land around your home, its beautiful.
I’ve been wanting to build a porch. I’ve watched a ton of videos. I have to say this was simple and it looks better. Good job
Dude you did a GREAT job of showing how you built this. I modeled a lot of mine from your video here. Good job and thanks for posting this!
Looks great Mr. T! Can't wait for the finale. Thanks for posting.
You and me both!
Great Job . . .you can be very proud of your work. Thanks for sharing your project with us.
Awesome work. The yard is just spectacular.
DiyTyler, spectacular job. It's easy to see why it's the most used area outside. 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸. Thanks for sharing this with us DIYers.
Thanks a lot Tyler for sharing your knowledge, beautiful work, Good bless you.
Good job Mate!
Thanks man!!👍🏻
This is brilliant. Well done 👍 👏
WOW !!!!! I'M VERY IMPRESSED WITH YOU....YOUR WORK IS AMAZING....I LOVE YOUR BACK YARD .....
Looking great Tyler. You sure can be proud as you enjoy your new space.
Yes! Thank you!
Floor = Joist, Roof = Rafter
Looking very nice great job
Also you can get ceiling joists
Ah....I rafter sounds right. Was thinking truss but that is a prefabbed piece. Rafter...I like it! Thanks!
Nothing wrong calling this a joist. Ceiling joist is usually flat, whereas rafters are the angled part of a truss. Most of us watching the video knew what he was talking about.
Thank you for sharing a very beautiful job
You and your family did a fantastic job building the screen in patio. Looks beautiful, thank you for sharing now I have an idea how to do mine.
Beautifully done.
Thank you for this video...It came just when my husband and I needed it
The mosquito barrier was a brilliant idea and looks super nice.
Excellent work! You do have a perfectionist skill that others will hire and appreciate you for life. Take care young ma, take care.
Very very well thought out and absolutely beautiful. I have never had a screened in porch envy but I do now LOLOL God's blessings to you and your family.
Wow! Very nice work! Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful, love your deck. Great job!
Just the video I was looking for!
Excellent all ways around! I love your color-coordinated pets❣️
This is amazing !!! First time viewer and love this so much ! Now I just need to find a DIY Tyler to come to Kansas and build this for me, a Kansas Grandma ! Lol !!
I really liked how you used corrugation around the railing. Very nice accent touch
...also made great finished soffits ..
Beautiful Job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video, awesome screened in porch You gave me a useful video to make a covered patio area that is not attached to the house
Thank you !
Perfect screened in porch, Nice looking for outside get togethers.
Indeed! We have put it to good use so far!
I'm in CT and through home Depot I bought armadillo decking and love it. I didn't like tricks or any of the other composite decking. My color is called campfire. Nice job on the porch
You did a beautiful job on the Pergola/queen room ..your wife is so very blessed that you know how to do these jobs ..you’re saving so much money.. keep up the good work🥰🥰
I love this project, I have to look at your screen video because I've been wanting screens for a few years but too lazy to do it.

Looks great!! Nothing like country living!! I do the same in Indiana :)
The best!
Looks awesome! Nice job!!!❤
The Construction Kitties! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
From one dad to another, strong work. All that work plus camera work is like twice the amount of work
Thanks Dan! You are correct, lots of time behind the scenes to make it all happen!=
Wow! This was an awesome project. You and your family did a great job building this unattached screened in porch.😊 I am also a first time viewer and now a new subscriber. Loved this video.
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
Perfect 👍 Team Work!!
far out - what an artist - i loved this video :) incredible skills - looks beautiful. we have a pergola but the tropical plants cant stand our cold winter :) blessings from new zealand
It Is Awesome and you are a smart man, thinking of every detail!
Great job Tyler! 😊
Love this build!
Great job. The cats love them!
Wow, fantastic job!!!
Great job brother way to get it!!!!!!!!!
I'm not a fan of the beams not being notched into the posts. All of the roof load relies on those headlock screws and NOT the posts. That's also quite a span for 2x6.
He also used joist hangers.
@@TimGallant He didn't even use screws designed for the joist hangers, just decking ones. Hopefully it doesn't crush him or his family in a couple years.
♥️😊. Thanks! Excellent job.⭐
It looks great. My wife wants a screen room. A lot of work. I am just wondering when it is time to put a new roof, it looks like it would be a little difficult. You have several great helpers too.
Man Tyler I remember helping my father build a screened in porch when I was about your son's age in the 90s. God bless you great that you got him out there with you.
It's wonderful to have handyman husband and you save a lot more money for the labor. You're the man doing great and luck wifey.
Sr. Very amazing job Congrats !.
Beautiful
Man, that's awesome! Great job!!!
This was ingenious. Very interesting. Good job.
Thanks Lori, glad you liked it!👍🏻
Nicely thought out. Good job.
Thanks for doing this video. I've been trying to figure out the best idea for a roof on my front porch for 7 years. Would love To have a Gable roof but I don't think my roof could hold the weight. It's a Jim Walter home. This is The Best idea I've seen. And it really looks beautiful. Thanks again. God Bless and Merry Christmas✝️
Awesome! And you make it look easy!
Another awesome video!! Thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a beautiful patio , great job,SUBSCRIBED
Thanks for the sub!
Nice job love what you did what you did great ideas must try
I been wanting someone to do this for me. Pretty cats!
Awesome presentation!!!
Glad you liked it!
You guys are fantastic 👍
Great video🤙🏼💪🏼
Thank you for your tips and advise!!!!!!
I’ve been wanting to make this since I bought my house, but I couldn’t wrap my head around how to attach it to the roof. Your method is so simple and makes a ton of sense. How does it do in rain? It looks like the rain might sprinkle a bit under the pergola.
Great job. Wish my man could do things like this. It looks wonderful
Thank you very much!
wow!!! very, very cool, very impressive
Fantastic job. Your hands are blessed. Wish we could hire you.
You did a hell of a job my man.
Love, love, great job.
