    I am a 32 year old law enforcement officer with 10 years experience in the military. I have never had a hero in my life, and never saw the point. The people I most admired were always soldiers, generals, and "great men" of history. But I have a hero now. Malala is my hero. She is a shining beacon in a dark world.

    It is insane how old she sounds versus how old she is. She has the ability so communicate so clearly and earnestly, this is a trait which is rare in 90% of adults much less other girls who are 17. This is a person who will be remembered.

      +Ben Alexander She actually seems to be at graduate level at 17 so she got a better education than most Americans, plus she was taught to speak English. And she seems to have had public speaking training also because she speaks like someone who has been giving speeches forever and she knows to repeat important points for emphasis. Not many people can speak like a professional speaker at 17.

      +Ben Alexander - Her maturity comes from self experiencing the problem and also having full awareness of human rights. She is not trained in public speaking. With that Thrust behind her - public speaking is a small piece of puzzle. Many Pakistanis fall in this category. Their inventive work is not less than Malala's. City's spirits and structure is held together with people's innovation and will - with zero engagement of the Govt. She also represents that Birth face of A very young country - Pakistan (which is now disfigured in the recent past)

    I love how proud her dad is, and it looks like this fight she is taking on is a piece of him. Listen only to her voice, and none of the comments politicians made/make on her behalf. She is saying what she means, and needs no assistance in voicing her opinion. Just seeing how strong she is since the videos of her being a scared girl in Pakistan, and now she is completely certain and comfortable in her opinion and what she believes in is so impressive and beautiful. The smile on her dads face says it all.

    It says something about America when most of our youths hate going to school, loathe it really. Then this young lady is fighting for education so hard that when she gets shot in the face, she survives, and continues to advocate for education. My generation could learn a lot from her, and we're the same age.

    • @katieford1327
      @katieford1327 Před 9 lety +25

      I think what (at least in my school) is the problem is that children don't realize what an education means. In my small town you really don't need an education, just a well-known last name. I believe why so many kids hate going to school is because they've no idea what life is like without one- how much more difficult it is.

    • @adambrassard6277
      @adambrassard6277 Před 9 lety +36

      Most of the problem isn't the education itself, it's the public school system. The schools don't present the information in a way that makes learning enjoyable, for everyone at least. A lot of it is that the schools are run like a business and don't really care for the students, except the few good teachers. Another problem is that the society we are in tells us that it's wrong to be "nerdy," and getting good grades or actually paying attention in class equates to being "nerdy." To be honest though, I think it's more society's fault.

Malala has been a beacon of light to change that view, and to make the western world realize that, like in other religions all over the globe, there are coherant people as well as fundamentalist, so the fault doesn't lay in the religion, but in the fundamentalists groups.

    She's so outstanding, so marbelous. I, as a woman, as a person with the same age as her, would not have the courage to achieve her feats in a islamic country, in a country filled with talibã threats, Guns, actions. She saw and survived bombings, she lived in a City where cars patrolled the streets with machine guns. She knew the Danger, the conviction on their death threats. She lived the terror everyday. Yet, even scared, she had the strenght to stood Up.
    She is incredible. She makes me truthly proud of being a woman

    It is so Wonderful, that a 17 years old girl knows how to improve the world and not just like the other teenagers who find time of taking selfies, finding a new trend for a minute of popularity and all that stuffs...even I, do the same thing, of just taking selfies and wasting my time not wandering that in other parts of the world there are still teenagers, kids and women who suffers greatly in lack of education. I have no idea that a teenage girl would be able to speak out her voice for a Big change!
    :)
    And I...coming from a Third World Country, people especially youngsters like me, must do something meaningful to others. We must care for others, whatever life status they have or culture they live. the World is not getting better. Respect! Peace!

      taking a selfie does not mean that an individual doesn't care about what goes on in the world. I take selfies and do most things girls my age do, but I also am a feminist and I know a lot about gender equality, sexualization and sexism. However discriminating other 17 year olds for not understand things about the world, is not their fault at all. Which is exactly why people should be speaking out, so girls and boys do have an understanding. It's not that they ignore it, it's that they're not aware. Remember that.

    I think Malala is an inspiration for all women and men no matter what age to always strive for better and to not take education for granted, no matter where you are 🙏🏼 her father should be an inspiration to all Muslim men, for always standing behind his daughter and supporting her no matter what. This also shows us that is is not only important to educate women but also men. We always see people in third world countries as backwards, but why is that? Because we with our societies MAKE them that way. They need help and education and I know we all think we can’t make a big difference, but everybody CAN make a small difference and if we all do that, these small changes can become big. 💪🏼

      Ayk S Her veil is there to protect her from being subjugated..and forcing others to acknowledge her as a person when she speaks. it does not hold anyone back (not anyone who wants to be free in true sense) it never has it never will. and it sure as hell didn't stop her from winning a Nobel Prize. please learn about it first before you speak about any subject. this is why she is emphasizing about education so that people know and don't disrespect her choice (yes it is her choice to wear it) maybe you can learn to respect it.

    • @Kalebent
      @Kalebent Před 9 lety +9

      soul4rent2007 What? Are you kidding me? It forces others to acknowledge her as a person? So, if she doesn't wear it, she is not a person to be acknowledged? Oh, and it's her choice, too? Let me ask you: Do you think she would still have chosen to wear it if she were born in, say, America? It's not her choice, it's the choice of the cultural environment in which she was born.

    • @soul4rent2007
      @soul4rent2007 Před 9 lety +19

      Ayk S I am in Australia and I confess I have failed to put on a vail as of yet...but my cousin (Born and brought up in AUSTRALIA) who although her mother doesn't wear one she "chose" to wear one so yes I think given the beautiful person she (Malala) is inside and out she would choose to wear it. it is part of our identity as Muslims (although I admit that oppressive men make women do may things) it is not the religion it self. and you know WHY you think she wouldn't wear a veil if she was"born in USA? because and i quote you directly "it's the choice of the cultural environment in which she was born"
      my mother chose to wear a veil as of 8 years ago and she still gets hell from airport security. yes YOU guys "oppress" people with your scrutinizing and judgmental eyes when they wear a veil or hijab thus making them uncomfortable, making them feel like they are doing something wrong. maybe you can learn to broaden your mind before you go all judgmental on other peoples beliefs maybe learn a little about the religion before you speak trash about it? I grew up in a Muslim country and never in my life did I experience any kind of oppression from my father or anyone. My mother wears a veil with out being told because that's what chose for her self and although she advice me all the time to wear one I was never forced not from my parents nor from my husband. I have however always suggested strongly to learn and to go for higher education so that I can see, learn and analyse for my self about different situation and NOT STEREOTYPE like so many others sitting in front of a tv receiving nothing but media propaganda.
