I can totally see these being those "I wasn't really looking to buy these, but I'm sick of leaving Walmart empty handed, so...." kind of purchases.
Especially when they’re only 11.99!

I wish they would re release the Earthworm Jim collection! I have 3 of the original Earthworm Jim Action figures they are very expensive now! I have Psycrow, Battle damage Earthworm Jim out of the Box I got that one when i was a kid has all the original accessories, and I have the Spring loaded head Earthworm Jim.
They removed those characters to prevent price gougers to resale them as vintage. This were in my wish list. I hope playmates give us more characters!
I think I can answer the question about Mikey's nunchuck holsters.
I think the reason why there is three instead of four is because the fourth one would be where the hinge for the shell is.
Still makes it look weird though.
As far as storing the weapons, the old holsters were just as bad on him, and I've broken many a weapon from trying to remove them.
Excellent work! I'm guessing the changes will go unnoticed for most people, but it'll totally irk some. For the low asking price it's a nice way to have carded examples, especially when Playmates (mostly) acknowledges the value of the original card art.
I agree with you. If you just want them as a piece on your wall they'll look great. Even if you take them out and display them on your shelf they're still good. I'm curious if Don and Raph are any different or if they're missing any pieces.

Great review. When I was a kid, I only had a few of the 1988 turtles with mostly broken arms (lol). But I got the Michelangelo Storage Shell turtle and absolutely he was my favorite. He was the only variant I would ever have. His colors were more vibrant and he handled play much better than my other turtles. Eventually I grew up and gave all of them away. So I'm pumped these are out again after all these years. But I'm also devastated that Mikey doesn't have his own arms and legs, which I remember so vividly. I remember that foot arch and tight-curled grip on the left hand. I'm also sad that they muted the colors on the storage shell turtles. The colors they used for these new storage shell turtles are more inline with the 1988 colors... slightly more dim and muted. Sad.
I'll still get them though and open 'em too! Hopefully they do another release in a decade with a better Mikey
Picked up Leo, Mike storage shell figures and splinter. I hope playmates continues these releases. I only had raph as kid and would like to get them all. I'd like to see wacky action ones.

I saw two empty TMNT pegs when I went to Target the other day so it looks like they're selling out in my area, not too bummed as I ordered an original set when I saw your review last year so I'm happy having those.
Yeah the 88 rereleases were nice. I bought a set of the four guys because I thought it’d be cool having them moc on my wall

my turtles as a kid were always different. like different versions of the turtles. when i saw these at a walmart out of town my brain clicked. i had to have these to finally have a uniform set of classic turtles. i missed out on the standard reissues. i like them for what they are. its nice to have these for the collection. yes it had all 4.
I bet they are not including weapons to make them different from the originals. I wonder if Mikey's one chuck is smaller to fit it in the shell.

Yeah both of my targets had the 6 inch ones and I passed as well.
I'm pretty sure the 3 holsters are for one chuck n another accessory like the flashlight o something. Idk just guessing lol
I would think that the new ones are molded from the black belt reissue. They were slightly remolded.
Great review! My originals are still in good condition so I'll be passing. Glad that the heads are not oversized this time, at least.

Hey what's going on? Thanks for watching! I picked up Leo and Don. I'm actually finishing a quick review I made of Leonardo right now so it should be up within a few hours. It's one of my shortest reviews (16 minute haha), but I pretty much just compare it to the original. If you're not buying him to fit in with the older giant figures that's probably for the better. They are very different.
@@razrentals8897 Yeah they look good as stand alone releases. I feel like there didn't need to be giant vintage figures in the 80s to justify the existence of these new ones. Does that make sense? (of course, Playmates does itself no favors by essentially labeling these new figures as re-releases right there on their package). Also I like that they're smaller. Looking forward to that review!

@@merso10 you may think I’m a little harsh on the new giant figures. I did point out that it’s labeled “original 1989 figures” which I think opens it up to a stricter comparison. I think if they would have given them their actual heads I wouldn’t have cared so much about them being smaller. I was kind of hoping to give my Leo some of the newer accessories, but there’s no way the belt will work out. It’s awesome to know you’ve been hiding in the shadows haha! I don’t mind.
Imo the 88 line was/is the best ever made.

They should of just had one body with updated articulation and gave them multiple heads.
Actually if you look up the original 1991 mikey, it never came with a string for the grappling hook
They need to reissue the rest of the playmate figures especially foots 👣

@@razrentals8897 it made the most sense to me because only 3 holsters vs 4 was odd. I find the flashlight fits there nicely. Perfect for sewer spelunking.
I'am not Complaining I always wanted a storage shell turtle when i was a kid. My mother was really against me owning or watching ninja Turtles when i was in grade school but i had 3 anyway she finally let me have a few in the 5th grade :( My dad would let me have them but my mom thought they were really violent and belligerent. But now that iam a adult iam 41 she can kiss my ass LOL i bought 2 tonight at Walmart i have Leo and Mikey and damn they are cool :) my mom was weird when i was growing up. I remember one time when i was in the 2nd grade my mom heard at a Halloween party at school we would be watching TMNT the movie and she went berserk called the school said that i don't want my kid watching that. So alone i had to watch ET all by myself while the other kids were watching the blockbuster hit of the summer.
My parents could be like that too. I wasn’t allowed to watch r rated movies as a kid unless my parents gave it the ok. There was a couple birthday parties in elementary school where I’d try to sit in another room at a friends house so I wouldn’t get in trouble for watching the movie everybody else was, but then I’d always just go watch it. I had a lot of catching up to do when I moved out. I sneaked a lot of movies when I was a kid too even if I had to do it by watching a fuzzy HBO haha. My one Aunt wouldn’t let me watch my Ninja turtle tape when I was a kid when she baby sat me the one time. It’s funny when you think of how goofy that show actually is. Hope you liked your new turtles!
Tempted to get these because of the price and crack them open and display them.
The colors are ALL better on original. Still for $10 each worth it.
They price is great. I picked up most of the mutant mayhem figures just because it felt nice buying a $10 figure for a change.
