Trekking through tall grasses

  • With cell phone at face height, each summer we fetch our trail camera chips, brushing aside the Reed's Canary grass - a tall, invasive species brought to North America from Europe for forage and erosion control starting in 1800s. This grass can grow up to 9' tall (2.74 meters). In this video, taken in July, it was well over our heads - probably around 7' tall (2.13 meters). Sometimes I wonder if the effort is worth it, and then we see the wildlife treasures our cameras have captured and know it is.
