- In this video I explain how to build easy pigeon perches for your loft. These perches are inexpensive, sturdy, easy to mount and move around, and require little to no scraping! I also show our third round of young birds racing homing pigeons. Enjoy!!
Great video, I picked up some 1x4's at lowes today and plain on building 3 or 4 for my 8' wall in my new loft build.
Fantastic!! Glad this was helpful! Good luck going forward and keep in touch!
I absolutely love the splashed markings on them not my favorite but i do love the look and i appreciate your perch building advice i literally just built one and posted a video of the finished product 😅 thank you for the 💡 idea 🏆🪽🪽🧬🙏🏼
Very nice looking birds. Especially the black and the splash ones. Thanks for sharing your video
Thanks! Yeah, I’m a bit of a sucker for both the blacks and the splashes too!! 😍
JAR Loft Robertson Family Racing Pigeons yes they are my favorite color birds.
👍 nice perches and birds
Hey thanks! Appreciate it!!!
Nice trick with ur passage is that you can have it traps open and close the other birds... That way you can bleach water them when they get into the loft so when they do go into ur lofts they cleaned out
Great point!! I may give that a try. Thank you!!
Beautiful pigeons enjoy them 👍
Thanks!!
Nice Birds good luck to your breeding....
Thank you!!
Just a thought....
Why not have ur drinkers hang on the inside of ur lofts but filled from the outside?
Oh shux I forgot..... Man I love this loft!
Hey that’s an interesting thought! I’m always looking for suggestions on how to improve so keep them coming! Thanks!!
How far apart do you put the purchase
They are spaced 1 foot apart
Do you have any issues with the birds pooping on each other with this style?
I do occasionally see evidence of a dropping on a tail, but not a lot. I’m still very happy with these. Thanks for the question!!
How high is it from the top to the bottom of the purchase
The space in between perches along the board is about 11.5 inches
@@RFRP thank you
Will using pigeon perches instead of box perches help keep the birds from wanting to nest and lay eggs? I'm new to raising pigeons and have a very small loft. No room to separate the birds, but all my young birds are pairing up and wanting to nest.
Young birds wanting to pair up is completely normal. If the box perches are deep enough they will use them as nest boxes. Having perches like the ones in this video doesn’t stop young birds from pairing up but it does limit the number of nests (the birds will simply nest on the ground instead).
How to are yiur pigeon and what is the normal height?
I space the perches 12 inches apart. The birds stand about 8 inches, so that gives them plenty of space.
how big is ur loft n what the size for the breeding side n the other rest lmk
Sorry--just saw this comment! Loft is 15' x 10'. Breeder side is 7' x 10'. The two smaller sections are about 4' x 7'.
@@RFRP oh nice size love how you do it n plus the trap door too never thought about using just one trap for couple kit. never think of that i might try that. Plus is it hard to train every kit to just go in one trap??
@@H4HARMANEE i didn’t have any problems training them to just one trap. So far so good!!
@@RFRP ohh nice
How tall*
7 feet tall. the spacing between perches is 12 inches.
Better carpenter? Or bird man?🤔🤔🤔
Idk i admire your work with both!! WELL DONE ..SLOW GOLF CLAP 👏👏👏
Also how does a bird get the name like Djibouti? Feel like there's a story.
You’re too kind! I’m pretty mediocre at both!!
The name Djibouti is a result of letting my 5 year old, who at the time was really into world maps and geography, pick her name. 😆😆😆 I was committed to it!!
@@RFRP may i say your raising a good kid there!
😂😂😂love it ..to funny!
How lonv is from one pearch to another?
The perches are spaced 12 inches apart.
@@RFRP thanks
I think it's time build a aviary and landing board don't you think nice birds good luck with them
😆😆😆 I’m on it!!
