  • Historic old house built by two bachelor brothers in 1843. Before the mansion was completed there nearby business went bankrupt and then the half finished mansion was sold too a new family who completed it and then remained in the same family until the 1950’s. Sadly has been empty as long as the neighbor could remember. He said even when he was a lil kid it was empty and he was around his mid thirties. Thanks for watching, this place won’t be around much longer sadly

Wow, it's such a shame that they let houses like this rot, but who would paint the walls black like that? Cool old house Kappy!! I love the stone house, it still looks solid, until you see the walls have fallen...... That house has some gorgeous features, I bet it was grand back in the day!! I could sit for hours at that babbling brook!! You have a good eye for beautiful nature shots! Thank you for sharing it's always a treat to see one of your new videos!! Peace, Kim ~ P.S. That blue glass is stunning. We had porcelain knobs in our upper west side pre war apartment in Manhattan. In the 1950s the rent was $150.00 for a 7 room apartment. ( 1915 ). Now they’re between 2-4 million.

It doesn’t matter the color of the walls. If this house was built in the early 1800’s there isn’t much left that is original. The two fireplaces at the beginning of the video are not even close to being that old. Being a retired building inspector I could go on and on but I will sit back, drink a good bourbon and enjoy another nice video from Kappy.

America, like the Roman Empire was one of, if not THE most powerful, wealthy and beautiful countries and empires on earth, and then greed destroyed us. Look at the homes of then VS now. What America once was is seen in the artwork and beauty of these homes, but has been lost to moral, social and spiritual rot and decay. Thank you for giving us a small glimpse into what our former greatness was.

The first home... Can't help but feel a little sad seeing the Christmas tree and childs chair. You know there is always a story with these.
The second home... I know you said from the late 1800's but it almost seems like it could be later judging from the stone exterior and the parts of the foundation and floors which are poured. I suppose that could have been done later though.

Poor Alabama, Mitch Mcconnell destroyed that state. I have the exact same table in the entrance, and I saved it in the 80s from a leaking barn belonging to my inlaws and restored it. oh the history these remnants tell, even in their last days. that stone house was a bit of a quandary, collapsing from the inside? usually, the absence of the roof is the hallmark of total deterioration, but there was a glimpse of substantial roofing still intact, high above the ruins. Curious. Those stone walls shall stand long and proud, even as the guts melt away into oblivion.and so it goes...

My heart cries that no one wanted to save such beauty. And now as it nears the end, to glimpse into the rooms and imagine.
The fireplace (rt wall) in the front room to the right appeared to be cast iron insert with the original mantle still intact. Is this correct, Kappy?
I also took interest in the exposed brick at the top of the stairs. (As a former special events docent, I learned bricks were in the 1800s made by hand with wet clay and fired locally.)
Last, but not least, is the woodwork that appeared to be approximately 4-6”. I prefer it being white gloss, but to each their own.
If I could save just one in Nashville…

A shame she's been left to decay, but perhaps irreparable decay was already well under way... sealing her future. In any case, the loss of so many beautifully crafted homes being replaced by nondescript boxes never has made a lot of sense to me.

The brick fireplace is not an old one. It’s probably from the 70’s or80’s. The bricks look very new. If the fireplace was old, the bricks would look somewhat worn or faded. The other give away is the fact that it has a wood stove insert!

I love the architecture on the first house, Kappy. I read another comment about the black walls. I thought the same thing as you did. fire. But guess not. How nice it would be to have a house like this with your brother. I wonder where that lime green purse came from ? Thank you, Kappy. Wonderful as always

The former owner used it for a Halloween attraction. He's been dead a long time though.

I dont understand how a place like this could set empty so long. I wander who owns the property. I hate seeing houses like this gone to the ruins.

Hi, first house is beautiful. Too much decay and damage, can only imagine how beautiful the house was in its day. What a shame. Heard an odd noise, was that you, wind? Second house is done. Won't be up much longer, shame. If you poked the second house, think it would fall down? Haha! All that scenery and pictures were beautiful. Hello Mr turtle. Great explores.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
