When I was a kid in the late 90s, I saw a commercial for an 80s compilation set that played brief clips of songs with their music videos. This song showed up right at the end, and all they played was the woman's head zooming in at 1:35. Freaked. Me. Out.
I remember. That used to air on Cartoon Network on almost a daily basis back in 1999. And yeah, that shot of her head growing or shrinking within the frame always stood out to me as the most memorable visual element of that promo.
I was born in '69 also. Great time to be born because we caught the great 70's music from our older siblings, grew up in the 80's and witnessed the most all encompassing, creative music ever produced in one decade which will NEVER be equaled, let alone surpassed and then we caught the periodic excellence of the 90's before all originality and creativity totally disappeared in the 2000's. We were the lucky ones for sure. We are the mid Generation X'ers and no one will ever understand what we already know. Music excellence that will never be reached again!
This vastly underrated hypnotic masterpiece is dazzlingly addictive and totally irresistible and for reasons mostly unknown, makes me see and feel the sunshine of winter times cold after glow of lies, another broken relationship.
Its literally just a bot, the only people who speak like that are pretentious pricks, Hollywood jagoffs and critics. Sentences extremely similar to this one are very common amongst CZcams's plethora of bots. However this one is slightly more advanced since it edited its own comment.
Saw The Thompson Twins in concert and they were really good. If you got to grow up in the 50's through the 90's which were the best pop culture years with all the golden classic movies, music, concerts and muscle cars, YOU were very blessed!
esta canción tiene su antiguedad, y tiene personas que la oyeron en su tiempo y hoy en día la siguen disfrutando pero de no ser por el episodio de Un Show Más "emparedado de queso a la parrilla" el 95% mínimo no estaría acá
The nurse hit the bullseye, I always felt like she was about to stick that thermometer through the tv and into my mouth! Great video!!! And the happy monster in the car, lol!
Some are acknowledging that episode of Regular Show, but here’s how I first learned of this song. I remember the commercial for Modern Rock playing on Nick and/or CN, and while I didn't remember much, there were two things that always stuck with me. First was Safety Dance, cause I remember round that time, Nickelodeon had this commercial for Spongebob merch that played to a spoof of the song, and when hearing the original through here, I instantly drew the comparison. Second was Lies. All the videos had just been people dancing, singing, or playing instruments, then all of a sudden this really weird image of a woman's head coming close to three pairs of feet in a bed comes on and it was just so bonkers and out there compared to the others that it always cracked up 11 year old me
Ha, that "Modern Rock" CD commercial was where I first heard this song, too. I was born in 1991 and grew up watching a lot of Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. CN was notorious for airing those CD compilation commercials. I also remember the commercials for "Pure Moods," "Songs 4 Worship, " and "Worship Together." They were on almost every commercial break in the late '90s and early 2000s. And if they weren't advertising CDs, it was either "Zoobooks," "Muzzy" or "The Phonics Game." 😆
My mom saw them live when she was a teen with a friend in a big theater venue, only like 3 other people attended and she "felt bad for the band" but now we both love the band lol
Regular show ❤

Came here searching for this very comment
If only I had a spaceship that could take me back to the Eighties ❤❤❤❤
I remember being like 7 and being hooked when this came on Regular Show. I miss how simple everything was.
Since the original comment is gone...
This song makes me want to lie about being an astronaut to cut in line at a sandwich fast food restaurant.
I was looking for that comment as well ☹️
Great 80s song and good band. The Thompson Twins are easily one of the best bands of the early and mid 1980s.
Htl
The song I play in the background while filling out my timecard.
We need a New Romantic revival!!!! That would be so awesome 😎
😎👍

This video and its effects absolutely SCREAM the 80s.

The early days of music videos….they evolved shockingly quickly within only a few years.
right around '88 or so the visual started to take off, right around '91 the production took off
First heard this when watching Regular Show a few months ago. Awesome song to listen to!
The most 80s song ever. Love it.
This video is reminiscent of the classic 1968
