carly azzurro ***** I'm sure each of you guys have some unique elements in the music of your proud histories and heritages that each distinguishes themselves from other types of music. No doubt their respective art forms are a source of pride and heritage that I cannot pretend to understand unless I was a part of it and it was a part of me. That being said, and trying to see this as best as I can from each of your perspectives, it makes sense that people will disagree on the very things you guys are now. Indeed, I can feel the passion in this music and for me it is a gift to have discovered this type of music. But you guys know more about your histories than I do and I won't waste your time preaching to the chior about how music is a manifestation of culture. But, I will say this. Given the regional history, I can see why Grumpy Cat mentioned Greek origins to this. Interestingly enough, my coworker thought it was Greek before I told him that it was Southern Albanian. His reply simply mentioned the possibility of Greek influence given the proxy and history of that region in the world. Again, given my limited understanding on that subject (history of the Balkan pinensula), I myself can only speculate at best. However, I agree with carly. This song isn't about a Greek hero or a Greek town (I forgot the names of both), nor is the singer Greek. I understand the similarities and perhaps there is some Greek influence in Southern Albanian music, I honestly don't know. But to say it's exclusively Greek is kinda like saying that Thievery Corporation is Iranian music or that Santana is Mexican music. Yes, there are styles and elements infused in the music of both bands, but both are American bands. Maybe that is what is going on here, idk. Either way, I don't agree that this music is Greek anymore than saying Bluegrass music is Scottish or Welsh. I can only assume that is where the disconnect is here. Either way, I really dig Albanian folk music and this song is one of my favorite Albanian folk songs. If that is too much for you to handle Cat, then I'm sorry. Disagree if you wish, I am interested in your opinions so long as they have substance. But, if you reply with insults, then I will simply ignore you or give you one silly reply as a going away gift.

TheMistAnchorite totally agree with you and also until the beginning of the 20th century we were very close to each other in some aspects and if you don't know romania is the first country in balkan that accepted the independence of albania, there are some romanians who like slavs same thing with some albanian idiots that like turks but those who have some brain can understand the truth, i think that the only native nations in balkan are romanians, albanians and greeks.
***** and one more thing illyrians aren't slav and slavs aren't ilyrians, illyrians in slovenia, croatia, bosnia and montenegro are assimilated by slavs, what about bulgarians and fyromians bulgarians say that they are old thracians and fyromians say that they are old macedonians what do you think about this?
TheMistAnchorite Ye, Dacians, Thracians, Macedonians, Hellens and Illyrians are the descendants of the same indo Europeans. And Dacians and Illyrians are the only ones who survived. Greeks are not ancient Hellens, they are result of Byzantine empire.

I love this song so much.. I just want to get up and dance.. Proud to be albanian 💜💜💜💜
TheMistAnchorite yes that's so true because i'm albanian and i can understand some words from romanian songs
***** maybe it's true that albanians aren't fully illyrian by blood but at least we aren't slavized like ilyrians of slovenia, croatia and bosnia.
